It is my firm belief that members of this community will experience improved health and improved wellbeing under her guidance and care. She is a gifted physician with a broad base of knowledge. I would see her FIRST for ANY ailment ANYtime! In addition to being quite smart, she exhibits unmatched compassion and care. I have come to thoroughly trust her in every respect. Darn. The doors were locked and the lady that came to the door began interrogating me about my Covid vaccination status. Then she wanted to me fill out a new patient form outside with a mask on. Don't take your kids here! My mom took me to Dr Kadakia for my first gynecological exam when I was a young teen and Dr Kadakia had an intern who had never done one before perform mine. There were multiple people in the room and it was a very traumatic experience that I will never forget. Another time she told me I likely had cancer without running any tests! Dr Darshana Kadakia is a committed physician who will take the time to talk to you and find out what your issues are. Running a business much less a medical clinic during and following Covid was challenging for everyone. I wouldn't let any preconceived Covid practice keep you from getting medical attention from a very caring and experienced doctor, which Dr Kadakia is. If that were the case we wouldn't go to anybody. Agree it's a pain, but all medical establishments, offices, hospitals, emergency room, urgent care, etc. have their endless paperwork and varying protocols for Covid entry. We are unvaccinated, otherwise mask-less, healthy patients... and it's okay. Lol We have been going to San Clemente Medi-Center and Dr Kadakia for many years now and hope she is around for many more. SKIP THIS PLACE and go 8 minutes further to SOUTH COUNTY URGENT CARE. 1300 Avenida Vista Vermosa, San Clemente. You'll save yourselves a terrible experience. SOUTH COUNTY URGENT CARE had an emergency room doctor on staff and took care of my foot in record time without issue. Now regarding San Clement Medi Center, if I could give this place a negative rating I would. Less than one star. These people are unbelievable and should be ashamed to call themselves care givers. They are more concerned about getting paid than patient care but what's really alarming is given their "primary payment" concern, they are not competent enough to verify insurance. I googled nearest urgent care after severely cutting my toe on rock at the beach. The person at the counter [San Clemente Medi Center] came to a locked door and ask why we were there. She then ask if I had insurance and ask "what kind". After sharing my plan detail she then told me to call the number on posted on the sign outside the door. This treatment was shockingly unprofessional. After filling out 5 pages (front and back forms) the receptionist said she couldn't verify my insurance and ask me for my social which I provided. I have Blue Cross insurance and I'm the primary policy holder. I've never had an issue ANYWHERE with my insurance but for some reason these people "could not verify my insurance" and started behaving even more unprofessional. To help them, I called the number on my card myself and the automated system confirmed a policy under my birthday. All of this is taking place outside the facility because as mentioned they kept us locked out. I finally told them how unprofessional their conduct was and we left. We went to the next closest Urgent Care who had no issues with my insurance and took care of my toe right away. What a difference a true professional can make. Skip the drama, head to South County Urgent Care and get the emergency help you need. read more

BEWARE!!! I accidentally went to the incorrect urgent care. I thought I was going to the place with five stars from Yelp; but I just realized it was the wrong place. The positive was there wasn't a wait. Dr. Kadakia spent quite awhile on caring for my injured foot. The nurse intern was very kind. The office manager, Kashmira Patel called my third party administrator to make sure my insurance company is in their network. Then, everything went south. Since I couldn't remember the date of my last tetanus shot, I was given the shot under false pretenses. Dr. Kadakia explained that no insurance company covers this immunization, not even for children. I was told I had to pay $75.00 after I received the immunization. This isn't true! I later found out from my third party that all immunizations are covered under my insurance. The claims adjuster called the office manager, Kashmira Patel and she wouldn't allow him to speak. She kept interrupting him when he asked to list the services rendered on the billing statement, including the shot. She kept saying they don't bill the insurance company. But she missed the point. Regardless, if they don't bill the insurance company, they still needed it to show it on the billing statement. Then, the adjuster's supervisor called her and she kept talking over her in a very inappropriate, loud voice and hung up on her. Now, Blue Cross Anthem is investigating the whole matter. All the third party administrator wanted was for them to put all services rendered on the statement. The money wasn't the issue. It was the way she was so defensive, extremely rude, and uncooperative in following the correct protocol. The worst part was Dr. Kadakia and Ms. Patel said I needed to bring back the tetanus vaccination that they already injected in me for a full refund. How in the world could I bring it back if: 1) I'm not a doctor, 2) it seems unethical, and 3) would anyone want a shot that I bought off the internet? This was the craziest request I've ever had in my experience with the medical world. She also gave me samples of an antibiotic that wasn't properly labeled. I'm taking it into my pharmacist to see if it's legitimate. BTW - I'm not sure if they were aware that the whole conversation was recorded for quality review. I will be reporting this to the proper agency who oversees the medical profession. This seems all together very unprofessional and shady. read more

I created this account just to make this review. The young lady who came to the door was extremely polite and just lovely. I was wondering if I could be seen for some issues but I am new to the area and have no doctor yet. She came out and answered my million questions and helped me begin to fill out a new packet (i recently suffered a stroke and can not write well). turned out they do not accept my HMO insurance but she even helped me find the right number to call to figure out who might. She had the patience of a saint. I will be returning and will gladly pay out of pocket if I can not find another doctor. read more

Unfortunately I did not read yelp before coming here. The doctor and nurse practitioner's bed side manner were terrible. I was given antibiotics and was not gone over any side effects and had to ask the receptionist what the doctor's writing read on the label. The doctor did not introduce herself when she came into the room and was busy quizzing the nurse practitioner on her presumed treatment plan rather than build a client patient relationship with me. I work in the medical industry and was very discouraged after leaving here with no diagnosis, a sticker with directions that I could have googled online for treating symptoms of the flu and no smiles or feel better from any of the staff. The receptionist was the most helpful employee there which was very disappointing. Overall extremely frustrated and disheartened that it's so hard to find a good health care provider. read more

Terrible experience both times I have been here. Convenient location and can get in fast but the service is not worth it. Doctor came in the room while yelling at the front desk. Did not greet me but continued to sit down and tell me she had to write prescriptions she got behind on. Sat there for 15 minutes as she typed other patients prescriptions. Then finally she asked what was wrong, did a small checkup and told me she would send prescriptions to the closest pharmacy. Did not even tell me what was wrong. I had to ask the pharmacist what the prescription was and when to take it. The doctor does not have the personality for this profession and would NOT recommend to anyone. read more

STAY AWAY!! I agree 100% with Tyler J. They verified benefits with BCBS and still said I needed to pay them in case they didn't get reimbursed. I called Blue cross and they said they absolutely shouldn't be doing this. I had to call and go there to get my money back once BCBS verified they had paid the physician. I'm betting they wouldn't have sent my refund without me asking twice and the 2nd time wasn't so nice so they gave me my money back after I threatened to file a complaint with Blue Cross. Stay away if you value your wallet and body. Doc always is super busy and rude to her staff. And, to top it off, I had to go to another physicians office to fix her stitches as she removed them out a week early. Can you say malpractice? If I could rate lower I would. However, the young lady at the counter was very nice. 1. The place is filthy. I counted 13 fruit flies hanging out on the ceiling in the waiting room. 2. Another employee, not the nice one, suggested I try and claim worker comp for my injury. 3. After a 2 hour wait I was finally taken back to wait longer. (I had an appointment too). 4. When the doctor (using the term loosely) came in she was completely distracted, short, and tried to push a blood test on me when I knew exactly what was wrong (strained muscle). She may be getting kick backs from whatever lab they use for blood tests. I heard another patient arguing that he did not need a blood test either. 5. She also never laid a hand on any part of my body and charged me $130 for the exam. Based on my experience I would suggest everyone just drive right by. It will be worth the extra miles to find a credible doctor. read more

Even though I was not a regular patient and they didn't administer the test Dr. Kadakia ok'd my request. The MA was very nice and helpful. I booked an appointment a couple days back & showed up with with a prescription I've been steadily taking since I was 18 years old and a cough medicine that my previous doctor had just prescribed me. The primary doctors weren't there which is the reason I came for Dr.K a general md & pulmonary specialist/internist not a physicians assistant. I assumed Dr. K was treating me the whole time because I'd never been there but it was actually a physicians assistant by the name of Dr. Richard Licon. Dr. Licon was HORRIBLE, he took no time to listen to my problems and instead asked a nurse to preform a strep throat test even though I said I had tested negative and was there for my chronic cough but allowed them to do so anyways. The nurse was very inattentive, after starting my blood pressure she left and allowed the device to deflate on my arm and jack my readings, she stepped out and answered a phone call in the middle of performing my strep throat test & also made me feel very uncared for. Dr. Licon decides to put me on a random antibiotic I said I had already been given and I stated did not work & I had to fight to get a refill on my anxiety meds. When I left I realized they spelt my name wrong on the prescriptions, screwed up the quantity of pills given so that my pharmacy refused to fill it until I get another copy. Although they had told me the pharmacy will fill it no problem because it says two a day so they should just double it. Overall horrific experience, Dr. Licon gave me 80%+ less meds than what I was just bumped up to the month before. I was prescribed 45/10days. Dr. Licon gave me 30/30 days. WHAT AN IDIOT. They allow patients to run out early so insurance won't refill their prescriptions, suffer, and withdraw. I would give zero stars if I could because of all the times they've hung up on me. read more

My mom has seen Dr Kadakia for years and finally convinced my dad to go when he was very sick with pneumonia and his PCP gave him a z-pack and sent him home. Needless to say he did not get better. After the visit he said "Wow, I feel like she really cares" She did an extensive assessment of his overall health and gave him a treatment plan that included getting him OFF of medication not prescribing more (which most physicians will do). The office staff Kashmir and Makarena were kind, knowledgeable and caring. I highly recommend this practice if you want to improve your health without just being prescribed drugs! read more

Had an allergic reaction and arrived after using an EpiPen directly from work. Macarena and Dr. Gilbert were kind, concerned and reassuring. I was well taken care of, discharged when all was well and sent up with clear and concise directions for follow up on any concerns or issues that may arise overnight. Even though we were "outside" (due to Covid), they assured my privacy was protected and that I was comfortable. The only small thing I didn't like is all the forms (probably 10 pages worth!) they asked me to complete before they would treat me. That was hard to concentrate when I was suffering from an allergic reaction. Overall, a good experience. read more

I wish I could give this place a negative 5 rating. I went in with flu like symptoms and after looking at my tongue this voodoo so called Dr. DARSHANA R. KADAKIA claimed that I had pancreatitis and potentially serous of the liver. She ordered all of these blood tests and told me to come back once completed. Obviously I was very scared by this encounter so I went straight to the ER. They immediately told me that I did not have pancreatitis and after 8 hours of ER fun and blood tests they determined I had the flu. This women is a crook and she should be shut down. I am having a lawsuit filed against her going after her medical license. read more

I had an absolutely horrible experience. Dr. Kadakia was completely unprofessional when meeting with me and was discriminatory toward me based on my sexuality. When she learned I was gay, she made very inappropriate and unprofessional comments that I don't feel comfortable sharing on yelp. I should have gotten up and left immediately but I was in shock and didn't know what to do considering these words were coming from a "doctor." I understand that we may have differing views, but the doctor's office is not the place to exercise prejudice. I wish I would have recorded my experience on my iPhone so I could take it to a medical board so her medical license would be taken away and she would be forced to stop practicing.
