Enrolling him in Summer Soul Surf Camp ended up being one of the best decisions we could have made. From day one, Josh Baxter created such a welcoming and supportive environment. He has an amazing way of connecting with the kids and making everyone feel included, which meant so much to us during this transition. Not only did my son learn how to surf, but he also made new friends and started to come out of his shell again. Seeing him excited to go each morning and hearing him talk about his new buddies was everything I could have hoped for. The camp is well-run, safe, and full of positive energy. It truly helped turn a big life change into something exciting and memorable for our family. I can't recommend Summer Soul Surf Camp enough--especially for families new to the area looking for a great way to get their kids involved and connected.

I had the joy of bringing my grandkids here, and it was such a special experience watching them learn and grow in the water. From the very beginning, Josh Baxter made everyone feel comfortable and welcome. He has such a calm, patient way about him, and you can tell he truly cares about each child he works with. My grandchildren not only learned how to surf, but they also gained confidence and had an absolute blast doing it. Seeing their smiles at the end of each day meant everything to me. The camp is well-organized, professional, and focused on safety, which gave me great peace of mind. I'm so grateful we found this place. I would highly recommend Summer Soul Surf Camp to any families or grandparents looking to give their little ones a memorable and positive experience.

We love this camp!…read more My kids and nephew have done this camp every year for several years now. They started in the mini minnow group (youngest group; no getting in the water). After that, they participated in the safari group (whale watching and water activities included). The last group is the h2o group (whale watching; kayaking; sailing; more advanced water activities). At every level, they were happy and excited to go to camp each morning. In fact, they prefer to do multiple weeks of this camp each summer. They love crab hunting, whale watching, sailing, and dock diving best. The counselors are young and energetic. They keep them safe and help reapply sunscreen every day. My kids come home with stories about how the counselors paid special attention to them and how they've made new friends. I love this camp and the people that help make it great every summer. We will continue to come until we age out! Highly recommend.

The trainers invest so much time and care into each athlete, and it shows not only in skill development but in confidence as well. This season our daughter earned a varsity spot at her high school and was placed in the top pairing for her first match -- a huge milestone that reflects the foundation built during her time at American Beach. She always comes home from practice with stories about what she learned, encouragement from the coaches, and the fun of competing alongside everyone. American Beach didn't just help her improve -- it gave her a genuine love for the sport. We're very thankful for this community and the impact the coaches have had on her both as a player and as a person. Highly recommend to any family looking for great training in a positive, supportive environment.

The pace is chill, there's a disciplined, not regimented, routine with plenty of "non-surfing", wholesome fun (projected movies, games, guitars, skit and talent shows, in the lounge tent). You don't need to have any experience surfing, or you can be a shredder. There's always instructors in the water that are willing to coach you or you can be left to your own talents/whims and do your own thing. They bring the boards as well as lunch all the way down to the beach for the kids and instructors to enjoy (it's a bit of a walk to get down there and I assume it's easier and more convenient to bring the lunch and gear to them). The boards provided are just fine. My son had his own wetsuit and booties so I can't comment on the wetsuits. I grew up in Southern California but we live In Austin, TX. I only mention this because we can't surf in the middle of Texas (generally)! Meaning, zero experience is ok here. There's no pressure to be the best, but there's definitely pressure to have a great time! And they do! The Camp Manager, Bart, is a fantastic guy from Australia that my son loves. He and his team of chill "Counselors" keep a chill vibe that makes this great thing happen. Kudos to Jason and his entire team surf/kid enthusiasts. This camp came at a critical point in my sons life and it made him a better young man. Thank you, Sincerely! Sky and Shai

In a week of trying in pretty heavy conditions for a beginner and this time of year I never once felt unsafe or unprepared thanks to excellent instruction and help getting that big 9' board out and getting a big shove to catch each wave. I had only boogie boarded before and swam some in the ocean. And the last time I was on a boogie board was maybe twenty years prior. I'm now hooked and shopping for a board. Ethan was my constant coach. We had a small class so the coach/instructor to student was nearly one to one. Everyone on the staff were encouraging and really a pleasure to be around. All the campers were great to meet and talk with, laugh and surf. Great fun. I plan on attending every year. And surfing as much as I can fit in every week.

Review is for their sailing camp!…read more This was our second year attending Westwind Sailing, and once again, it exceeded our expectations! My boys absolutely love this camp -- the sailing, the teamwork, the fun -- it's all top notch. This year, we ran into an unexpected situation where one of my sons wasn't able to attend, even though we had signed up well in advance. Based on the camp's policy, Westwind could have easily told us there was nothing they could do -- but they did the opposite. They were quick to respond, incredibly understanding, and went out of their way to accommodate us. In a world where customer service can be hit-or-miss, their compassion and professionalism really stood out. Another lovely moment: during the "practice capsizing" day, my elderly parents came to watch. Without us asking, the amazing staff brought out chairs for them so they could sit and enjoy the event comfortably. That kind of thoughtfulness is rare and speaks volumes about the team behind this camp. We're so grateful for everything Westwind Sailing offers -- from the wonderful instruction to the truly kind and caring staff. Highly recommend this camp to anyone considering it!
