Hands down the best experience when having to get your car tested for registration. The entire experience was quick, pleasant, and very service oriented. John was so friendly and helpful - got us in quickly and the test took us less than 15 minutes. The information was forwarded automatically to the DMV for us so we did not have to make a trip there to get the car certified. His price was very comparable to other local shops where the wait time yo be seen was a few days rather than right away. He looked after the testing for us quickly and efficiently. Will be back for the next Smog check! read more

Called and made an appointment based on the yelp reviews I saw. After leaving the DMV in San Clemente, I decided to take care of it as the State of California does require you have a smog check EVEN if you have a brand spanking new vehicle. Certified technician was very welcoming, super fast and friendly! Got it all done in 10 minutes or less. Will definitely keep coming for future reference. read more

This is my second time seeing John over at San Clemente Smog. He gives fast, efficient service. I was able to schedule my smog check the for the same morning I called him. He got me right in and I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. The price was very reasonable and so convenient with him being in the industrial area kind of behind Rainbow Sandals. The best part? I passed the smog check. I'll be back in two years when I need my smog cert again. read more

If you're in need of a smog test all you need to bring with you is your registration. Arrived 10 minutes earlier than when they open to avoid a wait and to my surprise the inspector took me in right away. The whole process took a little over ten minutes and cost $69 (nice). Super friendly and provided his insight at the end on how to continue passing the once every two year test. read more

What a great experience. John walked out to greet me as soon as i drove up, showed me where to park, and gave me a time estimate of 10 minutes. I took a seat in a pleasant waiting area outside and while I was waiting a guy in a limited edition Porsche drove up, greeted John like an old friend and sat down to wait too. OK, that made me feel like I'd made a good choice to come here. People know John and this place and trust their impressive cars to him. After a wait of only 5 minutes total, John drove my car into the shop, quickly and efficiently did the smog check and I was in his waiting room getting my paperwork. The waiting room is great BTW-worth the visit to see a little bit of San Clemente car history. Really appreciate John and the great service at San Clemente Test Only Auto Center. Would highly recommend that you visit him if your car needs a smog check. read more

Then latter on when I needed to get a car repair I went there one day late in the afternoon and they were a little busy so I decided to go somewhere else bc it was somewhat urgent. Long story short It's been probably about 2 years since I've been. Disclaimer #2: I'm not good with cars at all! I know nothing about them and could very easily get taken advantage of. For that reason (and the fact that I'm lazy and probably not as responsible as I should be :)) I had a LOT of deferred maintenance with my truck. But it wasn't until I was going down a hill with my son and had to stop at a red light and wasn't sure if I would be able to that I decided the situation was URGENT and I needed to take my vehicle in or I would be putting myself and family in danger each time we went anywhere. However in the back of my mind I thought oh man I'm going to be taken advantage of bc I have no idea what I'm doing. Then I remembered Jeff's shop and thought well since I know Jeff to be such a stand up guy I imagine his shop is ran by stand up people and he's taught them how he wants things done. Having that been said I still figured they would tell me EVERYTHING needed to be done and it was ALL urgent! And even though they probably could have done that justifiable and been pretty accurate I just didn't like that I wouldn't know. But I had no choice to take it in to at least get the breaks fixed so I went for it. They got be in quickly. I called ahead of time and Chrissy was very nice as well as when I showed up. Justin (great name) took at look at my vehicle, and I received a report stating everything that was fine with my car, somethings that they recommended and then a couple of things that were urgent. The ONLY things that they said were urgent was the breaks, which I knew was true. To my huge surprise the other things they told me weren't an emergency but they recommended them but at no time did I feel like I was being manipulated or taken advantage of. But felt like they were looking after me and just giving the pure facts. There were a couple of items I had done recently and none of them came up on the recommended list. A couple of the items that came up I asked about and I never felt like I was being high pressure sold but just educated. It felt like I had someone who was just there to give me the information and help me understand instead of take advantage of my ignorance. I looked up a coupe of the recommended items on the list and sure enough each time the cost I found online was always higher than what they quoted me. Since I knew I could trust them I decided to just move forward with all of the recommended items and I feel like I have a new truck and my family is safe. And my wife is proud of me for being a man and getting the truck fixed! :) even though I did a lot of work. They got me my vehicle back that same day and even stayed a little late until I came to pick it up. I would HIGHLY recommend Advanced Automative to anyone who is looking for a shop they can rely on with trustworthy good people who are working behind the desk, under the hood and behind the scene to make sure your vehicle and family are taken care of.

I started to feel like he was holding my car hostage... and he never even fixed it! I used to trust this guy! Also, my wife's car (and others) got egged in his parking lot as it sat for days, waiting for Bob to be unable to fix it. We ultimately had to take it to a different shop who actually was able to fix it rather quickly (and without the eggs). I was once a very loyal customer. No more. Goodbye Bob.

I was fortunate enough that when my tire absolutely blew up on the highway that this shop was 1/2…read moremile off the exit where I was able to pull over. Mozie quickly put me at ease, looked at the damage and evaluated my other tires to see if any others were at risk. He offered me several options to choose from based on what was currently on my car and the amount I drive. He was kind enough to clear all the alerts from the vehicle as well that came on as my tire had shredded to the rim. It's been a few days since the replacement and I have not had any issues with my car since. I highly recommend this shop and, although I don't live in the area, would return when I need my full replacement based on the excellent and fair service I received. It was greatly comforting in a stressful situation to end up at this shop.

When I brought the car back, Mozie was professional, responsive, and took full ownership of the situation. They inspected it again, found the issue, and made sure it was properly fixed all under their warranty with no additional charge. What stood out to me was the accountability. It wasn't brushed off or delayed they took it seriously and made it right. That's rare and says a lot about how they run their shop. Appreciate the integrity and follow through. I'll be coming back. Just moved here and our 2013 meticulously maintained Panamera was exhibiting bizarre electrical behavior. Alarm going on and off. Dashboard going haywire. Called them on Monday morning and was able to come straight in. By the afternoon had analyzed and recommended new battery (it's about 6 years old) because analysis revealed low voltage issues and they said that the weird stuff is commonly attributable to low voltage. At the same time recommended a few scheduled maintenance issues based on carfax maintenance history. Agreed to take care of those few things as well. Had car back Tiedsy afternoon at 5. Dealer would've taken me 3 weeks to get in and they'd have kept the car a week and charged me triple. Frank's was great. Super friendly and shuttled me home and picked me up to retrieve the car too. Very happy to bar found these guys on yelp and they had nothing but great reviews. I believe that lived up to the reviews.
