I have no issues with the Doctor's credentials, but his office's inability to get the proper approvals for procedures has been an ongoing problem for 3 years. each time my primary Doc referred me to Dr Guerin's Office to monitor my thyroid I provided a minimum of 1 month before scheduling my appointment with his office so that they would have ample time to get my insurance plan approval for both the office visit and the in-office Ultrasound service that Doctor Guerin suggested that I use instead of my normal clinic service. I had no objection to usuing his in-house Ultrasound as long as it was covered by my insurance. Over the last 2 year period I have 2 visits and 2 ultrasounds for which I paid co-pays and had every reason to believe that the books were closed. Only after the 2nd Ultrasound service was completed did I start getting additional billings for what my insurance plan indicated were un-covered services. Had his office informed me that they could not get this procedure covered, I would have never switched from my in-plan Clinic option. Rather than admit their mistake and offer to minimze or eliminate the charges, Dr Guerin's office has now referred these charges to a collection agency. I do not know what more I could have done or how I could have known that my financial interests were not being properly protected by his office staff.

However, my UBER car dropped me off at 5:45 am, so I had to wait in the cold outside for them to open the doors. There are no benches or places to rest. I would have expected for the staff to be there by 5:30 am, if they are asking patients to arrive at 6:00 am. I had Carpal Tunnel Surgery of my right hand, performed by Dr. Julie Gilbert, Everything went smoothly and the staff was kind. The rooms are all very modern and clean. The surgery only lasted for a duration of only about about thirty minutes. All went smoothly, and there were no issues whatsoever;. You cannot be taken home via an UBER car, so a friend or family member must pick you up after surgery to return you to your home.

The anesthesiologist, Dr. Diehl, took the time to actually sit down and explain in detail how he planned to do this and what he suspected had happened to me before. This was invaluable to me. It gave me the confidence to proceed and the knowledge of what to avoid in the future. If I could, I would only have Dr. Diehl ever put me under again! Everyone there from the ladies in Reception to the nurses in Recovery treated me like a real human being showing me compassion and caring. Connie started me off getting me settled in with her easy manner and sense of humor. Diane was with me in the OR offering comfort and stayed close and attentive while I was going under. Barb was there when I woke up-the part I was most scared of because of how I woke up before. Just for a few moments I thought I was in a video game LOL, but it was fine and lasted less than a minute. Barb patiently kept talking to me and I came around nice and easy. She continued with her care and we found out we had much in common having both worked with horses in our past. I am an older gal, disabled, and have to see quite a few doctors. The team at SMI is far and above any others I have experienced. Oh, and there is no validation for parking. I think it's $1 for every 30 minutes. The office set up, has two doctors. One in the front and one in the back. My first impression when entering the office was not good. The receptionist looked like he just…read morerolled out of bed and not at all like a professional in a doctors office. The sub par trend continued when I met Dr Allen. He seamed uninterested and mostly annoyed that he was talking with me. After asking only a few questions he ordered a blood and urine test, which I did. I was told I would hear back from them with the results in 3-5 days. After 7 days and not hearing from them I called them only to get a voice mail box to leave a message. The next day I get a call back to say they used the wrong form to send the test in and they have to redo it can I come back. I was there in 2 hours to see the same sloppy guy behind the counter. I was told to go pee in a cup again. This time when I put the cup back in receptacle, there was another patients full cup still in there waiting to be received. GROSS. Once again a week and half later I have not heard from them. I called and was forced to leave a message again, two days has gone by and I still have not heard back from them. I am unimpressed, and have no confidence in the doctor or his staff. I will not be going back nor will I recommend them to anyone else.

It took multiple calls from my insurance company for them to even see the referrals. The best they could do after a 35 minute wait on hold was to schedule me in five days later. I believe they have a responsibility to book an urgent/stat procedure within 24 hours. I will do anything to avoid using them in the future.

When I had some strange skin ailment that was causing the skin on my hand to slough off in large strips (gross, right?), I had to wait two weeks to be seen at Dr. Button's practice! That's a long time, but I get it, it always takes a while to get an appointment at your gp's office. An hour and 30 minutes before my appointment, the receptionist calls to let me know the doctor has been called out to emergency surgery and can't see me. Then she calls thirty minutes later and leaves a message letting me know that the appointment is actually back on and they'll be seeing me in an hour! End of story: I never saw the doctor. Out of the two times I have actually seen the doctor, he has spoken to me for about 30 seconds each session, pretty much ignored what I had to say, and usually just told me to go find a specialist. No, he didn't refer me to a specialist, he told me to go find one. My mother sees him as well, and uses non-yelp-appropriate words to describe the quality of his care. The receptionist(s) are always very friendly and personable, though, and made the experience slightly more bearable. Luckily, I don't come here anymore, so it's a non-issue.
