We switched our son this year from a private tutoring company (where he was at since 1st grade-3rd) due to minimal progress noted and since we made the switch, we've seen significant change. Our son also is on the spectrum and so far all staff have been great at adjusting to his needs. We appreciate how SD learning meets with us regularly to give us an update on our son progress. But what is even better is that they also reach out to my son's school teachers and also asks for updates as well. Our teenager was struggling with an Algebra 2 class to the point of losing confidence in being able to comprehend concepts. We met with the SDLC director (Jesseca) to discuss the issue and she put together a plan to supplement our teen's algebra curriculum with a rigorous tutoring schedule. For the last 5+ years, our high school age daughter has attended SDLC. A myth that many people have is that SDLC is only for struggling students. She is a great student but initially needed more of a challenge...SDLC did that! I've been sending my kids here when they need support and the staff at SDLC has always been very accommodating to our changing needs. Ideally, I would have loved to keep them on schedule continuously but we had to adapt to our complicated schedules from time to time. No matter what our situation is, they've always worked with us. The tutors are great for each of my children's needs. I love that I can take them both to the same place to get help with Math, English, Writing, History, Spanish and even Test Prep courses. My kids feel more confident in all the subjects and have boosted their grades. SDLC is familiar with the courses and requirements of all the nearby schools so having their tutors is much better than having an independent tutor. This is the main reason I recommend them. Pricing is fair compared to other places too. Jesseca is great with walking you through what they offer and how they can help your child be more independent and successful in school. We have seen a vast improvement in my son's ability to read and write in the short time he has been attending SD Learning Center. Your child gets an assessment test and they will let you know where your child is at and where improvement(s) need to be worked on. You're also given options for your child's learning: In-Person with all guidance taken for COVID safety precautions OR online. My friend recommended this place for my child, who was struggling in Distance Learning school and I, as a parent, felt he was falling behind scholastically - which he was. I am so happy to day that he has improved a lot and is now where he should be in his learning. I really tried to like this place, but they have the WORST customer service. It seems like they are all about money. When I called the first thing they talked about was how much the testing was and they only accept cash or visa....when we got there they asked for the payment right away before telling us the process of their testing how long it would take etc. They have no front desk. When you walk in there is a hallway with a door saying to not talk in the area. The lady that works the desk and answers the phone Miriam is not very friendly and sometimes is rude and has an attitude. I will not be returning here. Their rates are extremely high which I don't mind paying. I don't care how good you say you are but if you have POOR customer service you do not deserve my business. Not only was she well prepped for the HSPT test for her entry to the Academy of Our Lady of Peace but it gave her the confidence she needed for this difficult test. She really enjoyed Mr. Steve. We moved here from Ventura California. Needless to say San Diego school system is way more advanced than Ventura! My oldest daughter tested into compacted math in 7 th grade. She felt like she was doing really well but when it came to test scores she was failing! That's where I sought the help out at San Diego Learning Center! First of all you must know when you enter you're just not a number you become part of their family. When you arrive the staff always greets you with a smile and ask how your day is going. Now that we're in a pandemic the Covid safety standards are extremely high at the center. The Director Jessica is so detailed and very direct. Her communication with parents is exceptional! She did a fabulous job with matching my daughter with a tutor who she really enjoys being with. Jessica also will check in with the students weekly to see their progress. Our daughter has never once said to us that she doesn't want to go to tutoring. She looks forward to it! We also have another daughter who is in the DLI program for Spanish. Our younger daughter was extremely behind in the Spanish language when we moved here because of the schooling is more advanced. The San Diego Learning Center has done an excellent job on getting her up to speed in the Spanish language! We have seen incredible improvement in both of our girls! With The curriculum changing so much in our education system it's a bit difficult for my son to keep up , with that said we have placed him in this learning center we've heard so much about. Are youngest son's math grade was a D . He has his goals and ambitions to continue his education when he graduates so he asked for some help. My experience with SDLC has surpassed my expectations. My 5 year old with speech delays was placed in a special day class last year. I realized that in his special ed class he was not getting the exposure to academics at the same level as the regular/mainstream kids. So I signed him up for tutoring services. It's been about six months, in that time he has gone from knowing about 5-10 sight words to now reading independently. He can read at 1 st grade level with good fluidity, he can decode words and knows the phonetic sounds of letters. Also, his writing skills were pretty non existent and he is now writing simple sentences with correct capitalization and punctuation. Best of all, i was just informed that he is ready to move to regular/ mainstream classroom next week!!! The money spent on this service is well worth it!! Looking for HSPT review center/tutor? Look no more! San Diego Learning Center is the right choice! Our experience with SDLC started last year when we were looking for a review center for our daughter to prepare for taking the high school placement test for a private catholic high school. Her main goal is to score high on the test and be one of the students accepted for next school year as a freshman. We inquired at several places and SDLC stood out from the rest. We met with Jessica and she explained what they offer for the HSPT curriculum. One of the things that stood out is that at SDLC each student receives a customized lesson plan based on the pre-test that is taken. My daughter's curriculum & courses were personally tailored based on her strengths and areas that needed focus on. She was then assigned to specific teachers based on their expertise in those subjects. My daughter never missed a class as she always looked forward to going in for her sessions. She received excellent instructional lessons from Mr. Walter and Ms. Kylie. We also felt secured when our daughter went in person for her classes as SDLC provided a very safe environment especially during the pandemic. Thank you SDLC, especially Jessica, Mr. Walter and Ms. Kiley, for providing excellent customer service and superb courses for our daughter. Because we made the right decision and chose SDLC, our daughter was ready and felt confident when she took her test last January. We received the decision letter last week and not only was she accepted in her dream high school, her HSPT scores ranked high nationwide and she received a scholarship for 4 years! Both my children attend San Diego Learning Center twice a week. Their initial assessment is more accurate than the assessments from my children's school. They have focused programs to address areas of growth, are very professional, offer parent conferences every 6 weeks, and actually noticed both my children need speech therapy. CVESD assessed one of my children at my request prior to them attending the SD Learning Center and said he didn't qualify. After the recommendation at the SD Learning Center to look into this further, I went to my medical provider for an assessment instead of the school and both my children qualified. None of my children's teachers ever mentioned anything about speech. This just goes to show the type of personal attention your children get here, which is hard to find elsewhere. read more

I came to this place looking for tutoring for my daughter, when I went to the office Jessica the director was not there so they took my info and she called me, she scheduled my daughter for an assessment test, and made an appointment with me to go over her results, she asked for my availability and we agreed on Monday at 12pm I asked how long would it take because I had to go to work she explained that it was going to take approximately 45 minutes so I said ok I'll go to work right after, we showed up for the assessment the person at the front desk asked me to fill out some paperwork and as am filling out paperwork she said she needed to collect $75 payment for the assessment, she called my daughter and said let's get started, she took my daughter in the room to began the test l felt a little rushed but didn't want to think much of it, they called me almost 2hrs later saying testing was done, then Monday comes I get a phone call at 1140am to confirm my 12pm appointment I said I'm on my way, I get there at 1155 and front desk person tells me I'm early to wait in the lobby and they would called me when she's ready, I waited there until 1210, I walked into the office and told them I was leaving because I had already explain to Jessica that I had to go to work, I asked for my money back and I said it its disrespectful to make people wait like their time is not important, then Jessica comes out of her office and said she was coming from another place, she didn't look or said she was ready for me, so I don't know how long she was planning to make me wait there, she just said she was coming from somewhere, I understand things happened and I said when that person called to confirm the appointment she could've just said Jessica was running late but she didn't, even when I checked in, but nothing. They think is ok to be late and their customers time is not important. read more

The range of resources that SDLC offers is beyond amazing. I have one daughter who has straight As but was struggling with her SAT scores. She was able to go to SDLC to work on different ways and tricks that could help increase her SAT scores in both reading, writing, and math for colleges. My other daughter has been struggling with math, but SDLC has tutors that offer math for all levels and ages. The tutors have helped my daughter's C increase to a B, and I will not be surprised if she reaches that A by the end of the year. It's been very helpful that I can send both of my daughters to the same center. I've also greatly enjoyed the staff. Bianca at the front desk is a sweetheart and has been extremely helpful and patient when I need my girls' schedules changed. I HIGHLY recommend the San Diego Learning Center! My daughter suffers from Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and has struggled with school since she was in the first grade. So my daughters are students here. One for homework center and the other was falling behind thanks to her fabulous 3rd grade teacher who didn't teach her jack all year long. Jessica, the Director, helped us immensely to set up sessions for all our kids. She and her team do an excellent job coordinating sessions and are always friendly and professional.
