10/10 amazing experience! We've completed a few lessons (intro, novice, doubles) all with Coach Yael and couldn't be more happy with what we're learning, how she teaches and also how good we're getting. She makes the sessions so fun even when you mess up and reminds people it's not that serious. It takes away from the pressure of learning all the rules. She's able to adapt her style to teach people of all ages and physical agilities. She provides the paddles for the first classes and after you take one session, you'll likely want to get your own paddle and she does offer suggestions. I've already recommended a few of my friends to take her courses so we can play in the leagues together. I know there's a bunch of leagues out there but I wouldn't want to play on any others after learning with Coach Yael. In terms of parking, the courts are at Mission Bay resort so leave yourself enough time in case street parking is busy from the beach goers. Also, make sure to wear sunscreen and bring water with you to classes since it can get hot depending on the month and time of day. No complaints other than I'd love more available classes from her and have them be closer to Chula Vista. read more

I started my pickleball journey with San Diego Pickleball by taking the intro class with Coach Yael. She is a wonderful teacher who transmits the love of the game through her teaching and is also fun to be around. That was a year and a half ago and it got me hooked and I've been coming back for more ever since, that includes clinics, leagues, events and open plays. Open play is a good price at $8/hr for 4 hours and lots of folks tend to stay the whole time, fitting in lots of game play on the 8 open courts. Mostly everyone I've encountered has been pickleball-loving, fun-loving people who have really helped elevate my game. Lastly, they recently resurfaced the courts so there are now permanent pickleball lines with a nice "new" feeling. It's at Mission Bay so expect some breezes and parking is mostly on the street and in the small parking lots by the tennis courts. Highly recommend and hope to see you on the courts! read more

She did a terrific job organizing, explaining the rules to everyone and ensuring things ran smoothly and everyone was having a good time. Absolute hothead running the courts, on whichever day we went. My buddy and I showed up to play, and didn't understand or know about the reservation system. That aspect was definitely on us and we could've checked in beforehand, however, we were greeted with a man clearly going through some anger issues. Pickleball is supposed to be a fun community game, and the two of us are beginners just trying to show up to some courts that were near our house, not everyone knows how it works. We found other courts nearby that I would highly recommend, with people who just have a love for the game and will take their time to explain the rules. I'm beyond happy to pay for a court and fully understand the maintenance It takes to maintain them, but poor management leads to fewer customers :/ read more

Huge thanks to Yael for helping me reserve a couple of hours on a pickleball court today at the Mission Bay Resort... I was in town for my son's soccer games with a friend and her son and we had some time to kill before our flight back home to Phoenix so this was the perfect activity for us and very reasonably priced at $32 for two hours. Our court was ready upon arrival and we chatted briefly with Paul and Maria who were super friendly. We played sons vs moms (and won both of those games and then did family vs family and each took a "W" home before we had enough for the day. We will 100% be back for some pickle on future visits to the San Diego area- either for lessons or just play. Fabulous experience! read more

Cool people, easy check in, it doesn't matter if you're from out of town. Courts are plenty open though I did go on a Thursday afternoon so it may get crowded in the weekends. Definitely would recommend!!! read more

The intro lesson and guided games are really good for shy people like me. Yael, the instructor is very nice, takes time to remember everyone's names, and is easy to learn from without being intimidating. She's very caring and makes sure you are hydrated as well. Loved our lesson here & learning all about Pickleball. This was what made us become Pickleball enthusiasts by getting lessons with Ya El after scheduling our intro class with Blake. The courts are taped off and the kitchen is too big. The nets are crooked. There is no pick up game and you need pay $35 to rent a spot. The people are super nice and very novice. read more

I emailed with their employee Yael two weeks prior to our trip to inquire about reservations and pricing. Yael was very short via email - as if it was such an inconvenience that I was asking - and said to just show up and that they didn't accept reservations. Per Yael's instructions while in town, we brought the whole family to play (4 kids and 6 adults). When we arrived we were told it was reservation only. When I showed them the email exchange from Yael the employee snickered and said "well I guess they just didn't want to help you" and ignored my family. Half the courts were open. It was beyond disappointing. The kids were upset. He was rude to us in front of other people and in front of the children. It was embarrassing. Rude and inhospitable. I was willing to pay, I tried to reserve, and they ultimately wasted my family's time. There are so many options in the area, I assure you there are better places. Fortunately we found nicer facilities for a better price with extremely kind and welcoming people - Pacific Beach Tennis Club which has several pickleball courts. They're so nice there! Avoid this place. San Diego is filled with nice people, but the grinches seem to be attracted to this facility. read more

My husband and I went to the first timers class Monday at noon taught by Yael. We had a lot of fun and Yael is a great teacher. Her instructions were easy to follow and she has a great sense of humor. The class motivated us to keep playing and join in on the open sessions. She provided the paddles and balls so we didn't need any gear. There were about 8 people in the class. Everyone seemed to have a good time. read more

I've been playing Pickleball for about a year. So much fun! I really enjoy the players at San Diego Pickleball at the Barnes Tennis Center. I usually play Tues. and Thursday nights and it's always a good time. All skill levels will are invited. Whether you are a first time player or an advanced player you'll find fund and competition and any level. Blake, Wes, and Erik are always happy to answer questions and help. The price is not pad at $7/per play or buy a 10 card pack for $60. The only thing that could make it better is if Barnes Tennis Center painted on permanent lines. read more

I have been going to San Diego Pickleball for a little over a month now. I was looking for something to do that would be fun as well as active. I am a 77 year old woman who has always had some sort of competitive game in her life. I played a little tennis in my youth and have always enjoyed ping pong so pickleball, being similar to both of those games, seems to be the perfect fit for me. Our coordinator Blake has everything so organized, all you have to do is show up and she takes care of everything else. Wes, does a great job on Blake's off days. Blake provides an online calendar so that you always know what is going on. Besides open play mornings and evenings, there are tournaments, and pot luck suppers once a month. San Diego Pickleball also offers lessons. I took 3 lessons from Eric, who is amazing, and am now trying to put what I have learned into my play. I'm sure I will continue with my lessons when I am ready to advance (hopefully). On open play days, we are divided into groups according to skill levels and rotate so that we play with different partners. Everyone has been so kind and welcoming to us newcomers/beginners. So, if you are looking for a way to get some exercise and have a lot of fun with a great group of people, come join us - I highly recommend it.
