I left feedback at the beginning of the season when my daughter was six, and now I'm leaving another at the end of the season with her turning seven. She trained rhythmic gymnastics at the pre-team level with Miss Sofia, the head coach of the club. I can't fully express my gratitude for Coach Sofia's wisdom this season in approaching all the girls in a way that preserves pure joy for this sport. My daughter has been genuinely happy to come to every single session -- and she's been training nine hours a week since February. She made friendships easily, and I truly feel the environment encourages that. We cheer for all the girls without comparing them. She competed without any nerves, because no pressure was ever placed on these young athletes. I believe she received a wonderful foundation. What matters most to our family is that we have a child who is excited to continue her rhythmic gymnastics journey -- and that says everything. Thank you, Coach Sofia. I also want to mention that San Diego Rhythm has an Aesthetic Group Gymnastics (AGG) program, and my daughter Matilda was part of the team for 4-6-year-olds. Her AGG coach was Miss Lina, and Matilda absolutely loved spending time with her and her teammates during practices. Miss Lina kept the little ones within boundaries beautifully while always showing them warmth and humor. The AGG experience left a lasting impression - Matilda still asks me when they'll do it again. My daughter has been attending San Diego Rhythms for 3 years or longer. Although Rhythmic and Aesthetic Gymnastics require rigorous training and discipline, the coaches at SDR go above and beyond in making sure the girls are able to maintain the balance of fun and hard work. Coach Sofia, Coach Dasha, and Coach Lena go above and beyond and spend extra time with the girls to make sure they perform their best on their individual and group routines. We love our SDR family My daughter is with SDR about 2 years now. She started from being totally clueless of gymnastics and within a year she was competing in nationals. My daughter, who is 10 years old used to go at this facility for more than one year, after one of nice coaches left this facility, while they have totally, one or two good coaches, they are exclusively reserved for competition students. There seems to be a major shortage of qualified staff for non competitive students and they are left with inexperienced very young coach who can't provide proper guidance. Overall, poor and unprofessional organization. There is no camera in the facility. They asked the kids to roll the heavy carpet which can be kind of child labor. What I saw here, During the class I observed inexperienced young coach just spending most of the time sitting on the carpet ( I haven't seen by my eyes the professional carpet cleaning since we went there ) most of the time, my kid left alone with no instruction and very young inexperienced coach just talking to other kids, while sitting in the carpet, my kid left alone and felt ignored with not getting any attention. I cannot recommend this gymnastic facility due to understaff, as I mentioned, you can see there, just they have two experienced coaches and only assisted to competitors only. The company has lack of quality instructors to handle the volume of students. The company doesn't invest qualify and experiences coach for all levels, leaving regular students with inexperienced trainer unfortunately. read more

My daughter started a littler over a year ago from beginner class and now is on the competitive team. The coaches are very passionate and dedicated to the gymnasts. The girls are all very kind and respectful to the coaches and to each other. This is definitely a great environment for young children. We are a military family and move every 2-3 years. It is difficult to learn the new areas we move to and even more difficult to find activities that we trust for our children to participate in. With that being said, I am very happy with my experience with San Diego Rhythms. I am a ballet teacher by trade, so when my daughter expressed an interest in beginning ballet classes, I began looking into local studios. Unfortunately, I'm not thrilled with any local ballet studio in particular for my daughter. My mind immediately went toward moving her into rhythmic gymnastics since it has a very strong basis in ballet training. I took her to participate trial classes at all four local rhythmic gyms/programs. San Diego Rhythms stood out as the only gym that took training their littlest gymnasts as seriously as I take training my littlest ballerinas. They are the future, not just a dollar in a gym's pocket. San Diego Rhythms is BY FAR the most hands on while coaching and they really take the time to make sure each student is shown how to do each movement correctly. This is HUGE. I am getting my money's worth and then some with Ms. Sofia and her assistant coaches. They maintain a high standard for their students, but do not expect young children to not be young children. Greatness can be achieved at four years old just the same as it can be achieved at 18 years old. It's a breath of fresh air when I find coaches who believe in instilling a sense of pride into how their their students approach their chosen sport/art. I find what they do to be developmentally appropriate and incredibly beneficial in developing confidence, gross motor skills, strength, flexibility, and grace. Our family had a bad experience with San Diego Rhythms, especially with coach Marina Kozlova and owner Sofia Minevich. It took us 5 months to understand that if we stayed longer, nobody will help our daughter. Our daughter was participating in level 5 of the competitive team. We came there by referral. Eventually we left our previous club, because of a change of management. Our daughter received many medals while in aesthetic gymnastics and ballet. Our daughter knows how to work with the team and follow the coaches' training. However, every time I picked her up from practice, she was crying because of excessive training, verbal abuse from the coaches, etc. Our patience was really tested during the December 2023 tournament in LA, where my daughter was physically abused. We brought this incident to the coach; however, didn't get any apology. The owner of the club Sofia Minevich didn't do any investigation and just decided to terminate our contract with the club. My child so badly damaged from the club that didn't want to come back to rhythmic gymnastics anymore. My daughter decided to pursuit a new sport, which is artistic gymnastics. All the 5-star reviews from this club were advertised by the owner of the club and are not real. Your children will be berated, verbally and physically abuse, and humiliated when you join this club. And, when the owner and the coaches are confronted, they will NOT do anything to protect your children. read more

My child trained and competed with San Diego Rhythms for six years. Coaches are fantastic! They did amazing things in gymnastics, and my kiddo then went on to accomplish great things in the competitive dance world, including winning many National titles, scholarships, and getting accepted into multiple top-ranked universities as a Dance Major. My daughter has been taking rhythmic gymnastics with this club for eight years now. She has learned so much here, from gymnastics itself to important life skills related to self discipline, concentration, value of exercise, relationship skills and commitment. Ms Sofia and the other coaches are nothing short of amazing - patient but firm. This past year has been difficult with covid restrictions but this proved to provide training for another essential life skill: determination! SDR has done an amazing job juggling zoom and outdoor training sessions for the girls. My daughter is a competitive dancer and I was looking for a stretch class to supplement her flexibility. The owner was incredibly rude. At the end of class, she basically said that dance was a waste of money and she tried to convince my daughter to join rhythmic gymnastics instead. Um, no. First off, my daughter is already naturally flexible. In fact, she was way more flexible than her rhythmic girls and she also thought that the class was way too easy for her. She actually started out with two other rhythmic gymnastics and dance at the same time when she was three. We ended up pursuing dance. If you are considering rhythmic gymastics, do your research with the other facilities around San Diego because you're not going to find the best training here. If a dancer says the class was too easy, then doesn't that say something? You'll be wasting your time and money on this facility. read more

I had my daughter take an intro class and I could not believe that this is an actual business.  The owner was beyond nasty - she screams at the girls, practically on the verge of verbal abuse.  I wasn't looking for my daughter to become the next Olympic champion and really didn't need her exposed to such an aggressive way of coaching.  I couldn't believe that some of these young girls were not crying - they've become so use to this type of behavior.  I will not be returning and discourage any parent from exposing their child to this type of experience.  Poor Poor awful experience. read more

My daughter has been with San Diego Rhythms for over three years now and she has flourished in their Junior Olympic program. She absolutely loves SDR and rhythmic gymnastics and it has done wonders for her flexibility, strength, and coordination. She has made many friends in the program and all the girls are kind and supportive of each other. Sofia and the coaches truly care about the girls in the program and ensure the children's health and safety while advancing them in their sport. From the first day of lockdown, the club immediately switched to zoom and were able to keep the girls active throughout the pandemic. They have been practicing outdoors and through zoom, practicing all safety protocols, and sometimes in the gym when the gyms are legally open. SDR has been a great place for my daughter. Like many families in this area, we have tried many activities at many facilities and we quickly move on if we aren't happy with them. This one is a keeper. read more
