This park is well kept and parking is usually not a problem. They have a small dog section and a huge large dog section. Most owners are paying attention to their companions and cleaning up after them-more so than at other parks. There are water fountains for the pups as well. What I noticed is many owners will take their small dogs into the large dog side. I wonder sometimes if that will be an issue, but so far I haven't seen any problems. read more

Good place to take small dogs. Owners friendly. The large dog side gets a little crazy.

BE CAREFUL dogs get bit atleast monthly here with no accountability from owners. If you decide to keep your pet safe and take them to the field you may get harassed by local code enforcement. Such a shame! They don't protect the animals INSIDE the gates, but harass the owners who want to keep their pets safe. Ryan hale & John Villalobos approached me in the corner of the empty field and told me to leash my dog. When it wasn't done quick enough one of the men raised their voice to me and actually frightened me. I was too uncomfortable to leave and waited for them to leave the premises. I had a fully trained service dog at my side. City of San Dimas needs to address the safety of the dog park and the aggressive demeanor of the code enforcement. read more

This is a nice dog park, actually two parks, one for big dogs and one for small dogs. Both are big and grassy. The small dog park is pretty much taken over by a group of people who sort of monopolize it, and their dogs are very territorial. My dog is a medium, she can be on either side, but the small dogs are aggressive and worry me. On the big dog park side most dogs are friendly and playful. There was one man whose dog came and snarled and barked and nipped at my dog. He said his dog wasn't aggressive, but to me that's the very definition of being aggressive. He blamed it on the harness my dog was wearing. Other than that my dog has had fun here. read more

Dog park is nice however, you do need to be careful from people stating that their dog is not aggressive. Pay attention to your dog and others. The picture I posted was an owner who had an aggressive dog, but the owner was just as aggressive. Within two minutes of his dog in the park, his dog grabbed hold of another dog's ear and would not let go. After he got the dog off, he refused to give the victim any information and was screaming and shouting at both me and the victim. My dogs enjoyed going to dog park. This one is the closest one to our home. They have a section for large dogs and small dogs. It's up in thieves canyon. It's peaceful and quiet up there and I have never had any issues with feeling unsafe. Seems most owners are very good at picking up after their dog they are open dusk to dawn. read more

We went to San Dimas dog park, to socialize our two 17 month old GS, still puppies, do to COVID-19 we could not socialize them like they should have been. The dog park is full of grass, which I'm thankful for. The dogs have Plenty of room to run, shade trees, 3 benches that are in the shade, two poop bag/ trash can areas, water fountain for dogs & humans. Dogs Must have all vaccines, + rabies, licensed to enter the dog park. Small side & a large dog side. Dog owners do their best to pick up after their dog's. Poop bags available @ the poop stations. Plenty of parking, until Saturday & Sunday, due to a soccer field below. Wednesday's the park is closed till 9:00 AM due to maintenance. Plenty of dogs & nice humans to play & talk with. Before the dog park, there is a child's playground, pick-nick table area that's covered, great for Birthday parties. Great place to bring the family, plenty of trails, small dog park side & a large dog park side. Come and bring your dog (s) , and meet some nice people. Our two Gs love the dog park. read more

I like coming to this place with my husky, tend to find more huskies for my dog to play with. My dog has more field to run around and get all that energy out of her system. People need to pick up after their pets, it's disgusting walking on landmines. I like a few people pointing out here calling for the owners to pick up after the pets. Keep an eye on your pets and clean up after them. It's worth the drive up as you pass by a ranch and see a few horses along the way and they have a playground for the kids and picnic tables. I 'm not in the area anymore, but I came across this page on Yelp. It's a super nice dog park, nice walking or riding trails too, but......when the county put up signs warning about snakes, they meant California Diamondbacks. My dog got bit by one of these nasty snakes and had to spend the night in the Emergency pet hospital. He had to take anti venon and it only cost a bit over $1k. Just don't let your dogs wander to where the fences are, because that's where my dog met up with the snake. I hope this helps. read more

This park is divided into large and small dog sections which owners here respect. There are doggy and people water fountains, complimentary dog stations, and a parking lot. It is a mostly grass dog park with trees to provide shade in some spots. Also, the day I came, there were at least 20 newish tennis balls all over the ground.. what a nice surprise. I haven't been here in years but I'm glad I came back. This is a really big dog park and there's also a horse trail that people normally hike as well with their pets. I saw a couple horses on the trail and they were beautiful. There's enough parking it was a really nice evening and park closes at 7:30. It's hard to find an open dog park right now so I'm really glad that they were open. Lots of dogs and the owners Just hanging around and mingling. There's also a children's playground that looks like it's open at the moment and bathrooms as well. I saw a couple cyclist come up to get water and use the restroom. This one is up on the hill and it definitely tires our big guy out. There is plenty of shade and it is clean. There are beware of rattlesnake signs so something to keep in mind once it gets warm. We will have to wait since it is being remodeled until February 2020. Our dog has plenty of fun and it will definitely be a park we come back to. It is separated by large and small dogs. read more

It re-opens February 19th, 2021. The surrounding park is extremely large and suitable for dog walkers. It's more park like than trail like, but a stroller will make it behind the dog park. Finally got a chance to take my dog over to this park. It was our first experience there, and it definitely was a great experience. My dog had a little tumble with a much bigger dog that left her yelping. It wasn't anything bad, she just happened to get into the path of a running dog (nothing aggressive). So we immediately went to the other side (smaller dog), and although she was cautious after that tumble she was able to join the fun once she realized it wasn't all bad. Everyone at the park was extremely friendly and welcoming. Each person is very cognizant of where there dog is at all times and what they're doing allowing the park to remain clean and aggression free. I'll definitely be visiting this park in the future! read more

Hi, We bring our pup to San Dimas Dog Park about once a week. It has a nice little set up utilizing two different areas for doggie play. One is for smaller dogs and one for larger dogs. It is well kept and for the most park the "people" visitor do a very good job of policing their animals. There are dogie dodo stations throughout the park and some great little dogie water fountains as well. Parking can be at a premium if there is a lot going on at the park next door... but never so big of a problem that we had to turn around and leave. read more

It's a great park. Amazing view. Very clean. The only reason I am giving it a 4 is because of the dog owners. Understand dogs play by chasing, barking, and jumping up and down. If you don't want your dog to play like a dog. Don't bring them to a dog park. No need to make slurs, or comments. I would give it a complete 5 stars if the dog owners would lighten up and not be so uptight. read more

Pretty awesome dog park. We took our two dogs(small and large). Pretty decent sized areas for both parts. The only downside was that there were patchy areas of mostly dirt. Very friendly people and dogs during my visit. It was the perfect setting for my pitbull mix puppy to start socializing with other dogs. Another plus was that they had doggy bags available to clean up after your pups. And there was a water station to keep your pups hydrated. The view was spectacular. It can't get better than spending quality time with your pups surrounded by mountains. There is also the ocasional horse galloping by the dog park area which adds to the beauty. There was plenty of parking. The actual dog park was kind of hidden. But just google maps the location, and it will take you straight to it. Attached to my review, I've added the list of rules that you must abide to. And yes, your dog MUST me spayed/neutered in order to get inside. read more

Turned away because my 5 month old golden retriever wasn't neutered. I choose to not neuter him since there is a bunch of research stating that neutering your golden retriever early will increase the risk of health problems such as hip/elbow dysplasia, cancer, etc. I train my dog strictly so that he doesn't have any mounting behaviors. If you think that neutering/spaying is going to stop your dog from mounting others, then maybe you should take a look at how you're training your dog because that is not the only variable. I have never met dog owners so uppity. Geez people, relax. read more

The only I don't like is the directions sends you to the stables for the horses, but if you keep driving you'll eventually find the park. I love it a lot better than the Glendora one, it's a lot bigger for the dogs to play in. People are very nice and respectful, and my Ava loves seeing and meeting new friends! This is one of the nicer dog parks that we've been to. The fenced areas are pretty large and there's a section for smaller dogs and one for larger breeds. There's also plenty of poop bags and garbage bins all over. DIRECTIONS: The park is north of the 210 Freeway. Proceed north on San Dimas Canyon Road (not to be confused with San Dimas Avenue, which is west). Make a left on Sycamore Canyon Rd and another left on Horsethief Canyon Park Rd. It will lead you to a parking area and the dog park will be on the right side at the end. The dog park is closed for maintenance on Wednesdays from 12-2PM. However, currently the dog park is closed for winter maintenance (1/6/15-2/27/15). As with any other dog park, there are rules. The following are rules I thought need to be highlighted and you can find the rest of the rules on their website (http://sandimasdogpark.org): Dog must be spayed or neutered Dog Park Hours are dawn to dusk No more than 3 dogs per person allowed at one time Owners must clean up after their dogs Dogs must wear flat collar with current tags Dogs must have current license and vaccinations Puppies under 4 months are not permitted No food/treats of any kind for dog or human, are permitted No animals other than dogs permitted Excessive barking is not allowed Users must fill holes made by their dogs Smoking and alcohol are prohibited in all city parks Commercial/professional dog training is not permitted unless approved by the City The dog owners here are better about separating their dogs to the appropriate play areas. I'm here at least 5x a week with my chocolate lab. She's got a ton of energy and loves to run. The large dog side allows her to run circles, after other dogs, and after toys. She's met some of her best friends here, and us humans have met some new friends here as well. Everyone one the large dog side is rather friendly, and attentive to their dogs. They keep the mounting, pooping, and any aggressiveness in check. They do close on rainy days and for a day or two after to try and keep the grass from getting damaged. read more

I like this park, but beware, they do close for maintenance at certain times, don't be a dumb-a$$ like me and just go there forgetting to actually check... I really should have my dog write this review, because although I like this park, I am not sure she does. But then again, she is the most anti-social snobby doggie on earth (Can you say: Diva?) I have to watch her like a hawk when we are there to make sure she isn't bullying the other pooches around. Sheesh. This is the best park in the SGV, IE area. It is super clean, the small dog side is rather large, has lots of shade, and the large dog area is exactly that, large. Soccer field large! On the weekends we have visited, there are dog park ambassadors present who are friendly and helpful and remind people of the rules. I think the presence of the ambassadors keeps people behaving responsibly with their dogs. This park is also great because it has lots of hiking/horse trails that you can take your dog out exploring. The only negative thing about the park (which is not the park's fault) is that during hot weather, rattlesnakes come out. We stay away during the hot season because we have overly curious/stubborn beagles who like to tamper with small creatures. read more

Now compared to other dog parks and dog beaches I've seen, this is not too special. HOWEVER, there is a LACK of dog parks in the Diamond Bar, Chino Hills, Chino, Pomona, Claremont, San Dimas areas...so it's the best one! It's not bad! It's well maintained and the other dog owners have been nice and attentive to all the dogs in the park. There are two large, fenced areas; one for small dogs, the other for larger dogs. There's plenty of water and shade. The park is closed on Wednesday mornings and whenever there's rain (in order to keep the grass in the best condition possible).
