We stopped by to visit the new dog park. It's off Mauna Loa Ave. hidden behind homes. There is a large dog side, and a small dog side. Both sides are roughly about the same size, which for large dogs isn't too big. The small dog side was more crowded and had quite a bit of small dogs running around. There's an umbrella that provides it with shade. The large dog side had about 5 dogs in it at any given time, and a bench under a tree. It's about 3/4 grass, and the last 1/4 is mulch. The entire fence is lined with metal dog art, which was nice. There's a stand of doggy bags so you can pick up after your pup. Water for the pups (and humans) is located outside of the park near the entrance. Off to the side of the parks is a children's playground with interactive wind chimes, which is cool. Overall, it doesn't provide a whole lot of space for dogs to run around (if your dog is a runner). The dogs are all well behaved. There were some owners of one dog that did not pick up after their dog, but did warn others that "a dog pooped over there, and their owners didn't clean it."

    Plenty of shade!

Some of these previous reviews crack me up. "Blasting music", "unaltered dogs," and poodles that pick fights? C'mon Yelpers, you're making this dog park sound like these shenanigans happen on a regular basis! Let me say that this IS NOT the norm for our local DP. The South Hills dog park is generally quiet, filled with friendly/ respectful peeps, and fairly well-behaved pooches. It's true, there are drawbacks to this DP. It's very small and is often crowded. It can be muddy, and yes, sometimes you will encounter unruly pets (and their clueless owners) once in a while. But overall, you can expect a pleasant experience when you visit our humble dog park.

Let's just remember before you read all the other reviews and somehow end up having high expectations for a damn dog park.. Like all the other negative reviews. This is a dog park located near a great hiking area and dalton wash. Two sections: small dogs under 35 pounds Large section: for the big dogs. Dog area isn't as huge as you think but my Molly had an awesome time. We've been here a few times during the renovations last year. We always had a good time hanging with the smaller dogs Usually it's only me and Molly but today we had so many friends to play with. No aggressive dogs so that's a plus. And lots of regulars *if your dog doesn't enjoy the dog park and hates it every time, fine remove all the stars from your review.. BUT if he/she is jumping , playing, and chasing other dogs then put your high human standards away and go have fun with them! Meet some of the regular dog owners, fun chats always.

We just moved to the area from Orange County and were looking for a new dog park. We found this one and we love it! It's on the smaller side, but we love the dual turf and grass! My dogs are pretty big and there's enough room for them to run around and let loose a bit. A dog friendly hike is also right next to it, also a plus. This will definitely be our regular spot now!

A dog finally came and they had a blast!!

I tried this place out for the it's time on a Wednesday with my two chihuahuas. There weren't any other small dogs there but there were two in the big dog area. It's a decent size place. Really small park surrounding it but its nice and peaceful. My dogs enjoyed it. They got to roam around without me have to worry about any other dogs. There were plenty of doggie waste bags there when I went just in case u didn't happen to bring your own. It was a little muddy in curtained shades areas, but I think that's only because they water in the early mornings. Overall it's a decent place and I will be back.

This is a great dog park! The park is always well maintained and there is plenty of water for your dogs incase they work up a thirst. Tennis balls and sticks are always available for playing fetch or chewing. I find that the 'big dog' side is always fuller than the 'small dog' side, but that's okay with me. More room for the little ones. The park is always emptier during the day, which can be nice. So far, everyone we've met has been very friendly.

Alright the San Dimas dog park is closed so I decided to check out this dog park. The dog park is located in a residential area. One of the first things I noticed was the drinking fountain was leaking and creating a huge muddy area close to the entrance. Yikes! Why isn't this fixed yet? Negative star. Second, there was a group all sitting in a circle not watching their dogs and a few dogs were leaving landmines. With that said the people outside the circle were very friendly and responsible for their dogs. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here and my dogs had fun.

So, figured it was a sure thing. WOW! Was I ever disappointed! Full of poop all over the place (on the large dog side), weeds popping up everywhere except on the patch of Astro-Turf. In fact, despite our efforts to avoid stepping on poop piles, another gentleman and myself stepped into it. Smelly! The refuse cans were full and overflowing. People just leaving poo bags on top of them. I don't know if this sorry state-of-affairs is due to budget cuts or just sloppy maintenance???

WARNING UNRESPONSIBLE PET PARENTS!!! Okay let's get into it. I've tried this place out multiple…read moretimes throughout the years since it's the closest to me. Let's start with the dogs park environment- It's not the biggest space but they do have space for both small and large dogs. The small dog park looks clean but the large has holes dug all in the middle making it hard to walk around and poop that hasn't been picked up. Overall it's not the worst, theres two benches that get shade to sit and watch your pup. Now unfortunately let's talk pet parents in the area and the environment for your dog. There has been regulars I've seen there and they have AGGRESSIVE dogs. Mainly these 2 huskies and an austrian shepherd mix. They have clear dominance and resource guarding issues. I've unfortunately seen this happen more often where people bring in aggressive dogs off leash. I've brought both my older dogs and my German shepherd pup who's only 7months. My puppy was bit 3 times unprovoked ( luckily it didn't break skin) while I working on recall training (we weren't around other dogs) and the owner didn't even apologize. I had to keep telling the one of the husky's to shoo bc his body language was already telling me he was going to bite my dog and the owner once again doing nothing. I bought a basket muzzle on Amazon just in case for my puppy (he has never tried to bite but can be nervous at times) but these unresponsible pet owners let their dog be a bite risk. It cost $20 and some work from the owner to prevent this. I had to tell people that their dogs aren't friendly and I left. This past time I went was my last straw and for now I will be trying other parks in my area. PLEASE ALWAYS ADVOCATE FOR YOUR DOG!! Side note: there is a group of older men that will hangout under a bench with shade their dogs are so friendly and playful, these are the type of pets I hope for my doggies to be able to interact with. There's also a baseball field that can be accessed behind the dog park and is separated with a gate.
