Saw the the Carr Sisters there https://www.thecarrsisters.com/. They were great. Overall vibe was what you would expect. The bartenders there are awesome. Prices are not crazy high but not cheap either. Overall a good place to go if you want to hear/see music. I wouldn't consider this a bar to just hang out.

This is a great place to listen to live country music. They have two story's but we decided to stay downstairs. It wasn't crowded at 8 am on Friday. The bartenders are very attentive and outgoing.

San Jac Saloon was just what I needed to experience 6th street! It feels like a saloon the minute you swing open the old fashion western saloon doors. Even though it was a Monday night, it was lively! Wonderful ambiance and live music. This place is a must when you're in town!

I don't do 6th, but the Carr sisters rock!!

Dirty 6th is not our vibe, but a few businesses still bring us here. San Jac is one of them as it has a great bartender, strong pours, and usually good CW music. Be aware that we have been one and done due to the band playing. However, the Carr sisters are now playing on Saturday afternoons and they always keep us there for a few sets. They are CW with a rock twist think Johnny Cash followed by Bruce Springsteen. San Jac has a long bar but there is seating by the dance floor, in the back area, and on a 2nd level. Drinks are relatively inexpensive for Dirty and as mentioned earlier you get a healthy pour. They have a decent local craft beer selection and some top-shelf bourbon, tequila, and.... If you need to get your Dirty on then do stop by San Jac.

The place is clean, cute, and service was friendly. The entertainment was talented and the vibes were positive. Good place to start the night activities ;D

Great atmosphere! The Carr Sisters are a must see. This much fun on a Thursday afternoon should be illegal! Happy hour was awesome. Bartender friendly and handled the crowds with ease.

Great live music both nights we were there. Especially enjoyed Bron Burbank...what a voice. The bartender was generous and attentive. Just a great simple traditional no frills bar with good booze, great music, chill vibe.

$9 draft beer. No, this isn't San Francisco or New York City. $9 draft beer in Austin, Texas.

$9 draft beers?????? This is one seriously expensive and bougie "saloon" Draft beers in San Francisco and New York City cost less than $9.

Feels like a saloon the minute you enter the old fashion western saloon doors. Authentic country rock music, friendly awesome service. Great drink choices, well priced. We got one ginger beer and one hein zero for $8. Great bar - we came back twice during our stay in Austin!

Great atmosphere, drinks and live music! And Dublin John is the best bartender in Austin!

San Jac Saloon If you want to experience a true country western Texas bar then come here. It's gritty with lots of rustic wood all around and when I was there a country singer entertained those drinking inside. I tossed a few bucks in his bucket to keep the music flowing in Austin. The bartender is no thrills but will serve you the finest beer or drink. But keep it simple is the way here. No foo foo concoctions here. He is very serious and protective of keeping his paying guest happy. Besides bar seating there are tables and stairs leading up to probably once a brothel. A big sign saying "Come & Take It" makes a statement for the ambiance of this bar. It's definitely a great place to escape the heat and relax a bit from the craziness on 6th Street.

This place is an Austin institution and one of the best places in the city to experience live music. This historic venue has been a local hangout for great music since the 1950s. The club was dimly lit with lots of stickers, graffiti, neon signage, paintings and interesting artifacts. While it has been a long time since I have been to the Continental club, it still felt truly Austin and very unpretentious. In the Continental Club you are literally I feet away from the live music. A dog was sleeping on stage, which made the place feel homey. The club is small and intimate, exuding a super personal persona. In addition, the sound quality is excellent for such a small venue. Tonight we listened to Hot Club Cowtown...they sounded folksy and a bit country western yet enjoyable to listen to. Folks were boot scooting, so maybe more country western. Mike the doorman was super personable and helpful. He happily provided the WIFI password and was super engaging. In addition, it is important to note the cover was free until 9 pm. The crowd was a mix bag...locals, tourists, and musicians who love live music. Austin is affectionately known as the "Live Music Capitol of the World". Great music...great time!

So let me make sure to give ACL its due props! I was encouraged by my ex to put my name on the RSVP list for this exclusive experience and I hesitated at first. I tend to avoid all things in downtown. But I'm glad I didn't ignore this. Jon Batiste is not just hype. He is the real thing. Pure talent, fully present and full of joy, he is poetry in motion. Being able to experience a performance like that at ACL, free of charge, felt special in a way that's hard to explain. As my baby used to say, it was COSMIC. Austin City Limits ran the event flawlessly. The staff was kind, organized, and they clearly knew what they were doing. Our seats were super high up, but the view of the stage below was very good. We missed part of the intimate opening set down below right in front of the VIP section (an intentional special treat for them), but it was easy to appreciate why special donors were treated to that moment up close. What really stood out was the second half of the show. Jon Batiste and his band turned the venue into a New Orleans style second line, moving through the crowd, singing/dancing/playing music, eventually making their way up to the upper levels by us. It was thoughtful, inclusive, and joyful. No one was left out of the experience. The night itself was bittersweet in hindsight, but the music and talent was undeniable. The memory stands on its own.
