This review is long overdue but I came in here a few months ago. The gentlemen in security is amazing! This review is not for the building or security but for the records office where you can get your birth certificate. I went in and a lovely lady assisted me. She was polite and friendly, advised me of the process and so I completed it. After I took everything back up to her, she advised me it would be a quick wait and to have a seat. At the time, I was on disability due to a previous TORN MCL injury, so I could not stand long. Mind you, I even had a minor limp. I was told I could have a seat by the nice representative processing my request. As soon as a I sat down, some guy who was not even ASSISTING me that was behind the glass, told me I needed to stand up and wait for my turn? Despite me already being assisted but everyone else was sitting? Just because one had a child and another was elderly.... why couldn't I sit down? I felt this rep needs a refresher in disability rights and to learn how not to discriminate. Not ALL disabilities can be seen by the naked eye. I am not the type to argue especially in a government/city building so I stood up and when the lady noticed this, she quickly tried to process my request to get me in and out. After a few minutes, I sat back down because of the pain I was feeling in my knee. The man, however, needs an attitude check and a reminder by HR to leave your problems at the door when clocking in to work. If the process is to not sit (which doesn't make sense.... not everyone can stand for long periods to fill out forms oR at the computer) then you should be mindful of that. Have some signs up maybe if that's the policy ! read more

The gentlemen at the security desk are always very friendly. Don't trust the county's website for office hours. The website states the Treasurer-Tax Collector's office opens at 8:00am. LIE! It opens at 8:30am, so people are waiting outside. One person came from approx 75 miles away. read more

This new building seems out of place in the older downtown area of Stockton, but that's what makes it great. Once you say, "Oh, it's the building with the big green glass." everyone knows what you mean. A lot of the county offices are located inside this building. The civil service employees are exeptional. They handle so much of our business that you just have to give them a break if they are busy. Also, the recorder's office (2nd floor) has a chapel for those who want to set an appointment to be married civily. The price isn't bad considering the average wedding runs around $20,000 these days. The tax collector is located on the 1st floor. If you are looking for revenue and recovery, they are located on the corner of Sutter and Weber. read more

I want to publicly honor the Security Man on duty today. His name is Demetric Richards. I'm sorry if I have misspelled his name. I was walking across the street from the Administration Building and a young man, unknown to me, loudly threatened to hurt me. I turned away from him and he came to me again saying he would hurt me right in front of the police. He didn't care. I then took refuge in this beautiful administration building. Mr. Richards immediately saw I was distressed, asked me for a description of the man and kindly assured me that I could remain in the lobby and offered to walk me to my destination when his shift was over, which was soon. By then my friend had arrived in the area and I felt ready to walk to the restaurant. Thank you Mister Richards! read more

Had to rush down to get a copy of my birth certificate. When I called they made sure the copy was legible before I headed over. When there I was helped immediately and was done in a few minutes. read more
