Front desk Social Security employee(Carmen) at the Lodi office needs more OJT(on the job training)…read more My wife needed to add a middle initial to her social security card to match exactly her drivers license and the social security employee (Carmen) told us that she needed all original copies of birth certificate and birth certificate translation and gave us an appointment for two days later. My wife went to talk to the same lady the next day to see if she could change the time of the appointment and Carmen was rude and said what appointment? I'm not going to work the front that day. So my wife drove all the way to Sacramento to get an original birth certificate at her country's consulate and brought it back and another lady(Mrs Fisher) who assisted her, and told my wife she didn't need the originals, that copies were fine just to add a middle initial to the social security card. Mrs Fisher provided much better service and was nice, not rude at all like Carmen. All the unnecessary time, gas, money and frustration and unnecessary rudeness because of an incompetent lady(Carmen) that does not know her job and gives incorrect information. Incredible. Fire or retire her.

While picking up my child from school, I noticed 2-3 officers driving around. Didn't think anything of it, as Lodi is pretty quiet, and most officers are known and friendly. As I was walking back to my car, my son said "look mom, the police is giving that lady a ticket"! I looked over, and yep, there was this mother who I barely know personally (but word is she is not mom of the year) getting a ticket! Hahahahahaha priceless, as she is someone who definitely deserves it, and should have received numerous tickets 2 years ago when she was stuffing 3 kids & her own friends into a super tiny car WITH hers on the front seat without a car-seat. So Lodi P.D. you def made my day (not hers though!) and I appreciate you watching out for the kids, who obviously should be cared for more safely by the ones who brought them into this world. This area has a few government buildings and some nifty sculptures and a water feature in the All Veterans plaza, worth the visit. The Italian renaissance structure is impressive and the nighttime accent lighting showed off its features. Couldn't help but notice the homeless settling in for the night - just to the right of the entrance. Would have liked to walk the veterans plaza but frankly we were alone and safety was a concern but it did not deter us from the sidewalks to admire the architecture. Fantastic to see cities like this make a name for themselves and watch them grow. A must visit especially if you enjoy murals, history and of course wine.

When we asked for the key (because they keep the key on a stick at the desk) we were told "Sorry, we close down the bathrooms 15 minutes before closing time." It was 10 minutes before closing as we were asking. As my husband, who already has a library card here was having one issued for our daughter, I came around to the other lady at the desk to ask again, as I'm visibly pregnant, and we have an hour drive home. I implored, "I'm pregnant, I have a baby sitting on my bladder." She didn't even respond. She's sitting there issuing my daughter a library card, but she can't make an exception and hand a pregnant woman a key to the restroom. It felt inhuman. So now, although it is otherwise a great library, I don't feel like supporting a place where policies like that supersede humanity and compassion.

The Bicycles offered for auction come into the hands of the City of Lodi through a number of ways... They may have been Stolen, Found, or just Abandoned. The City of Lodi is required to store the Bicycles for a specific amount of time, usually 30 Days, to allow the rightful owners to establish their rightful claim to the Bikes. If there is no claim, the Bike becomes legally abandoned and therefore City Property. After taking some pictures and watching about thirty minutes of the auction, here are some of my observations... Less than five per cent of the Bicycles are in very good condition. Don't forget... these Bicycles have been Stolen or Abandoned. Odds of finding a decent Bike is better than the Lottery, but not by much. Most of the Pre-Teen Bikes are in VERY GOOD condition - if you are looking for a smaller kid-sized Bike, this auction is a good resource. One of the better looking Bikes in terms of condition, a Trek Mountain Bike went for just $20. See Bike Picture #2 - the Red Trek. Most Bikes will sell for less than $5... Yes, the Bikes are in THAT BAD a condition! Some Bikes did not even receive a bid. You will be competing with about a hundred people for about 60 to 70 Bikes. Of course on this particular occasion, yes there was a line. But the surprising experience during this visit is that the staff kept the line moving at a very respectable pace. I went inside just to look at the designs for Forever Stamps and I literally went from the back of the line to check out in less than 5 minutes. Thank you, Team Customer Service of Lodi!

Lodi DMV suffers from the same problems most other CA DMVs suffer from. I will say this location is on the cleaner side for a DMV. But here is the BIG issue I had on my last visit. Security doesn't allow standing while waiting!? Excuse me? I went on a cold winter day that was about 45 degrees outside. I didn't want to stand outside in the cold, but also didn't want to sit in a crowded seating area where there was clearly sick people who were coughing, sneezing, and sniffling everywhere. Hey Security, this isn't the hottest local nightclub on a Friday night. This is a local DMV. People don't want to be there. They probably HAVE TO BE THERE. And like me, I literally wasn't allowed to do what I needed to do online. So you are forcing people into long wait times and now telling them HOW they must wait? That is crazy work! I have been coming to this location since it was built and I understand that it's the DMV and it can be slow and frustrating but I think they do a very good job here. I needed to renew my driver's license and I have been trying to get an appointment online but they are weeks out. I'm in a hurry so I tried their new online option of getting in line before you actually get to the DMV and I want people to know about this because it was super helpful to me. It's the first week of September 2025, but the earliest appointment I could get at this location was the last week of September 2025. So I opted to use their "get in line now" option and it was super easy for me to get everything done quickly. I got in line digitally around 11:00 a.m. and was 37th in line I believe . Just after 1:00 p.m. I was 10th in line, so I got in my car and drove over to the DMV. Although there was a line out the front of the door as usual, there was still plenty of parking and by the time I walked through the doors I was fourth in line. The gentleman at the front was having difficulty explaining to people that they are no longer physically checking anyone in and that people need to check in digitally. I felt bad for him because he was really overwhelmed. However, I was able to find a seat and wait about 10 minutes to be called. It really stream lined the whole process. I was able to pay my fees, take my eye exam and get a new photo in less than 20 minutes after being called. All in all I was only gone from home about an hour for the entire process. I'm sure this location could do with more employees, just like any other DMV could, but I really feel they do the best job they can trying to get people through as quickly as possible and I appreciate it.
