This was my first wine tasting on the Napa Trip. After arriving on Sunday we drove to Madera because Quady is my favorite and I have always wanted to go. Been drinking their wines for at least 15 years. They did not disappoint!! After I was done fangirling the tasting began. I believe we started with the Essensia. Let me just say I don't remember the lady's name that was doing the tasting but she was super nice and so fun!! We were the only ones there. It was still early and Monday. I have had the Essensia before however, I didn't remember it tasting this good! We only get the moscatos in our local stores you have to order the Essencia and the Elysium. The Essencia tasted like fruit and honey. I tried Elysium next and it was delicious. I tried the Lucky Day variety and I wasn't really a fan. That extra percent of alcohol through me. I tasted the moscatos because why not. I had the red, white, black & rosé they were all delicious I had them before so I knew I loved them. I joined the club and had 6 bottles shipped back home. It was a great time for the $10 tasting. It is worth the trip if you like dessert wines and especially if you love Quady like I do. I don't want to leave out the olive oils. We tasted the roasted garlic, a Mediterranean and another one I can't remember. I'll comeback. Those pics were taken with my husband's phone. She broke out the bread cubes and were tasted the oils as well. We bought a few bottles of the oils as well. It was a great time!! I absolutely loved it. read more

We had bid on a wine basket at a fundraiser, so happy we "won". Chastity was so helpful and knew her wines. These wines are perfect for the Fresno hot summers. Also learned about the slushies..bonus. we travel from Clovis, it is not a bad drive down Ave 12. Being a country girl I love all the medals/trophy displayed. We recently visited Quady Winery on our way to San Francisco for our flight home. The two ladies doing the tasting were super friendly and happy to have someone come in as it was quiet before our arrival. What we tried: Orange Muscat - This was really good!! Black Muscat - I really enjoyed this one the more that I sipped on it. My husband and I both agreed that we enjoyed the orange muscat more, but this was still a very good choice. Electra Moscato - this was a very good moscato, and my husband's favorite of the three moscato's. Red Electra Moscato - this was also another very good moscato, and my favorite of the three moscato's. Electra Moscato Rose - my least favorite wine of the day, but still a solid choice. Two wine slushies - my husband got one flavor and I got the other. We thought both were very good! Needless to say, we enjoyed all of their wines - we enjoy sweet wines. Now, here is where we had issues: We asked about shipping wines as we were flying back to NC with only carry-on luggage. They could ship to NC at a very reasonable rate, so I asked for the first four wines listed above. The lady helping us out properly put in everything - I double-checked behind her - the wines we were ordering and the address information. My husband asked about the tasting fee - could we pay together or do we need to do it separately? She mentioned she could put it together. We paid and went on our way. On our way to the airport, I received a call from the winery as they actually couldn't combine the wine to be shipped and the tasting. Instead, they would need to cancel the order and reorder of wines separately (frustration #1). We received our order and unfortunately received the electra moscato rose instead of the electra moscato - the reorder was not put in properly (frustration #2). I reached out to Quady, and they immediately got the correct wine to us. I wanted to point out this experience because while there was frustration with our ordering experience, Quady did not hesitate to make things right, turning this into ultimately a positive experience. I definitely recommend stopping by for a tasting if you are in the area and enjoy sweet wines. I look forward to having our wines at home and even making some of their suggested cocktails with the muscats! read more

If you love sweet sweet wines, Quady is the place for you. They have several Muscat's that have a very vibrant fruity finish. What I loved about Quady is their two ports and vermouth. The ports were very outstanding. However, we ended up purchasing Quady's Sweet Vermouth. I am definitely a port enthusiast but I am also a Manhattan lover and their vermouth will make a very good Manhattan. From the vermouth you will get notes of Cardamom, cinnamon, allspice. Quady Winery had a booth at the JLSD Food and Wine Festival and they were offering a tasting flight of their sweet wines! Most vendors only offer the dry stuff, so I was excited to discover these wines. My favorites were the Electra moscatos because they were light, crisp, and refreshing. Delicious wines and fantastic service! They do recommend reservations due to the limited space in their tasting room, but not required. I personally made my reservation online and paid the tasting fee. Their website is user-friendly. Loved this place so much I joined Club Quady. Update (in response to comment): Yes, we knocked on the tall double doors, which has a sign that states "Tasting Room". We also heard people talking on the other side of the doors. That's why we knocked 3 times very loudly. 15 minutes later, still nobody opened the door. We also tried to pull the door handles really hard. Maybe not locking the doors during business hours could help :) -- We came all the way from Selma, CA on Sunday, July 7, 2019. Arrived at 12:30pm. Yelp, Google, their website, and phone automated service say they are open Sunday starting 12pm. We knocked 3 times and lingered around for 15 minutes. Nobody answered the door. The winery sign states they are only open M - F. Very misleading and disappointed. read more

If you love sweet wines, this is the place. For party's under 10 people, tasting is free and you can taste whatever they have. This place is small but they are building another building currently (2018). I started drinking their Electra wine over 10 years ago and still love it. Occasionally, I'll see it available at the local Costco in Fresno. Something special here that I haven't had anywhere else is they give you a tasting of their alcohol infused chocolate syrup with vanilla ice cream. This is deadly cuz you can't taste the alcohol. In addition to this, they have moscato slushy for you to sample. They were both super yummy!! Their wine club is economical with 3 different options and you get 25% off wines and 10% of merchandise. After several years of trying to visit Quady Winery, we FINALLY made it there this weekend! We had a chance to meet Chasity and Nora who provided an INCREDIBLE tasting experience! Chasity had an amazing knowledge of the wines there and even shared with us how Quady Winery actually started. Nora provided excellent customer service, both on the phone before we arrived and also while we were there in person. They both were so friendly and made me and my sis feel very welcomed. We not only left Quady Winery with delicious wines, they also provided us with many cocktail recipes and food pairing ideas for their wines. Big thanks to Chasity and Nora!! As we walked from the parking lot to the tasting room, we were greeted by a friendly gentleman tending to the roses. Inside, Beth poured our 5 wines & wine slushy tastes. She was extremely knowledgeable & when we puzzled her with a question she instantly called the winemaker. The tasting room was sparkling clean & gave a welcoming feel. We did a free wine tasting with mike who was super knowledgeable and friendly. Out of the entire tasting, I didn't have one bad bottle. It seemed that each wine we tried was better than the previous. I'm not a huge fan of sweet wine, but I really enjoyed all of the wines we tasted. They were all really different and not what you'd expect, but in a good way! The last one we tasted, their Deviation, reminded me of an alcoholic, floral tea! We ended up leaving with 3 bottles of their wine. I would definitely recommend Quady to new wine drinkers! Also the staff was so nice and accommodating. We ended up getting stranded in Madera with no Uber rides available and the staff let us stay in their tasting room, brought us chairs and checked up on us constantly. He was very knowledgable, friendly, and overall allowed us all to have a great experience at Quady. Had a great time here with a group of friends. Michael, our pourer (?), was incredible! He really made it a fun experience. He gave us each a sheet of paper to follow along with what he was pouring and went over the qualities of each wine. They make all sweet wines, which we all loved. I believe we tried 7 wines and best of all there was no cost for the tasting. After we tasted all the wines Michael made us wine slushies that were great. If Fäsi Estate Winery, with its Argentinian Malbecs, organic Syrahs, and Sierra Foothills white Rhone blends, represents something of the innovative, outer edge of the Madera Wine Trail, then Quady is the dependable heart and soul of the place: a real center for what winemaking in this part of central California has long been about. The Quadys are port, sherry, and vermouth specialists with a very profitable line of sweet Moscato wines - red and white - that moves a lot of inventory and enables the winemakers to craft several excellent higher-end bottlings ($20-30 range) in the process that are much more time- and cost-intensive to produce. These delicious wines are generally aged for 3-5 years at the winery and released periodically in numbered lots. The amontillado-style sherry, called "Palomino Fino" is made with biodynamically grown grapes and truly has distinctive character. It's a California classic, as is Quady's "Batch 88 Starboard," a blended port wine using Madera estate grapes that mimic the Portuguese style but give it a uniquely Madera touch. We loved both. The Red Electra - a 5% alcohol slightly fizzy blend of Orange and Black Muscat fermented cold to preserve a fair bit of residual sugar before an early bottling, is a great summertime sipper and deserves a taste, even if you're a more discerning wine drinking type who generally prefers drier or more weighty wines. Part of the coolness of a visit to Quady is how up-close and personal you can get to the winemaking operations. The tasting room is housed inside the winery, which has bottling lines, packing rooms, fermentation vats,and barrel storage facilities that you can probably get permission to visit, if your pourer isn't too occupied behind the counter. The winery building was designed by a prominent San Francisco architect who garnered critical praise for the structure. It's beautiful in a Bauhaus sort of way: vaulted ceilings, wood suspension, rose-colored poured concrete: a Wal-Mart warehouse this definitely is not! The opening hours at Quady basically follow the working hours of the winery, so Quady is a perfect stop during the week, even before 10 am, if you're passing through the Madera area en route to other destinations. We visited on a Monday around 11 am, got an impromptu tour, and left with bottles of port, sherry, and a chilled Red Electra, which we kept very cold in a Yeti cooler until reaching our campsite in the Sequoia National Forest. And believe you me: that bottle hit the spot after a long drive in 100 degree heat! Should you have plans to visit southern Oregon - the Medford area - you can also visit Quady North in nearby Jacksonville, overseen by the son of the founder, where similar unlikely wine tasting adventure surely awaits. Unless you're a Madera local, a visit to Quady will seem a little different from the typical California wine country experience, if by "typical" you mean something like Sonoma, Santa Barbara, or Napa. A lot of the grapes grown in this area are destined for inexpensive jug wine (Mission Bell is just down the street), so Quady is really a bit of an eccentric outlier. Visiting Quady is a chance to take a small risk and indulge your experimental side, to see what wines really do well in this part of the state and how, with luck, skill, and persistence, you can create some very distinctive wines that reward the adventurous at heart who don't shy away from sweet and fortified styles. And by all means give Palomino Fino a try! It's made in traditional Spanish sherry style in very small production (ca. 85 cases/year) and truly a great partnership between the wine grower and the wine maker. It's worth the effort to come out here, and if you happen to pick up a sweet Moscato or vintage port along the way: so be it. With a quirky-sounding name like "Quady," you just know that strange (and wonderful) things are in store for you, if you open your taste buds up to the possibility of a new, palate-pleasing sensation. I can't guarantee that you'll like Quady it as much as I did (and this was a surprise even for me), but such are the promises and perils of Yelp ... read more

Slushees were great! But customer service was definitely lacking. Full disclosure: we did get there 10 mins before closing on a Sat., but this was our first time on the trail; we hadn't anticipated for the wineries to be so far apart. The lady probs in her 20s with short brown hair was pretty rude to us. She made some back handed comments to us about next time being better with time management and just treating us like we were an inconvenience to her. Well... that's just a bummer because we were really looking forward to this place. I think it would have been better just to say sorry we're closed. We def. apologize about being late but, we wouldn't have stepped inside had there not been like 10 cars in the parking lot so we'd thought we'd try our luck to see if the place was still open. She didn't even pour one of our cups all the way and still charged $4 each. Sad to say we won't be returning to do an actual tasting. read more

Five stars, hands down. Visited the tasting room today and was so pleasantly surprised. The wines are delicious, the guys working were fun, knowledgable, passionate, and GENEROUS with their free tastings! ;) I've been obsessed with Quady wines for awhile (select varieties are sold at Bevmo and various other shops), and am so glad I finally got to visit the winery. It's a lovely space, too, and is currently under expansion. Overall, this was a wonderful experience and I can't wait to feature Quady wines at my wedding in 2016. read more
