Well my people finally ate in Madera it's been a while. We had the Sal's Fancy Burrito and huge and the flavor was huge what a meal. We also had Sals Combo and it was a very large meal that was very good as well couldn't finish the meal. And come on who doesn't like chips and complimentary salsa. The staff super friendly and attentive making sure you're getting everything you need. The ambiance is surely family oriented and popular local eating establishment. 3 stars was my initial score because the restaurant is so outdated and needs some attention in many areas both exterior and interior. Phoned in an order for a bean and cheese burrito to pick up at 5 pm. Walked in was greeted by several employees. One was given my info and order. Within two minutes I was signing the receipt, checking the order and walking out the door. Thank you, Zara (not sure if part of your name got deleted in so sorry). Not many people give customer service any more especially the younger workers. She was very pleasant, smiled and asked how my day was going. We exchanged a few pleasant responses. It was refreshing to see a young woman with great customer service and people skills! The tables were all nice and clean, the place is warm and inviting. So we haven't been to Sal's for a while but decided stop for dinner. We were greeted at the door and waited for a table. Once we got sat down. the waitress greet us then ask us if we wanted a drink this time we decided just water would be fine. She came back and gave us water and chips plus salsa which we definitely enjoyed. I use the order the combination Chicken enchiladas with Carne Asada taco and rice and beans. My husband ordered their Sal's wet burrito.Both were very good . Place were pretty plates were pretty big so I had to take some home. Outside parking is very hard since there are so many business in that small area but worth eating there. read more

It's generally pretty busy and the small waiting area up front can get pretty cramped. However, the service is pretty fast and tables become available at a steady pace. They serve complimentary chips and salsa. The chips are usually served warm and crispy and the salsa has great flavor without any heat. My go to order is a chili con carne fancy burrito which come stuffed with beans and chili con carne. The burrito is also topped with chili con carne and cheese and comes out sizzling hot. I also enjoy the James special, the Macho nachos and the tostada compuesta. The food comes out pretty quickly and the service is consistently good. I really enjoy Sals food but to be honest it's been a hit and miss lately. Definitely have to do dine in because take out is not very good and for some reason the amount of food we have gotten for takeout always seem to be less then when we eat in. A classic choice for Mexican food in town, drove from Fresno to come eat here like I used to as a kid! Very reasonable prices, I got a bean and cheese burrito for 6.59 I believe and a good size tamale for $5, a filling meal for $11 and some change! The salsa is amazingggg, it's got that classic authentic taste with the perfect kick of heat! The food came super quick but it was hard to get refills of the chips and salsa. This was my first visit here and I have so many good things to say about Sal's! Service was friendly and quick. It was pretty crowded inside but we still got seated right away. I got the chicken tostada. Not only was it really good, but the portion size was fairly large and it included lots of toppings! This is my first time here and I am SO IMPRESSED! Oscar was our server yet other servers came by to ask us how we were doing. My friend ordered the Camarones Mojo De Ajo and I couldn't decide between a chili Relleno, tamale and a prawn taco. Oscar suggested the Chili Relleno and the taco. His suggestions were perfect because I LOVED my food and ate EVERYTHING! I told Oscar it was my first time here. He said, "wait a minute." He went to his manager and came back to give me a $5 off gift certificate to come back again! WOW! I will DEFINITELY be back! NOTE: My friend left a 30% tip. First time my wife and I ate at Sal's was in 2021 at the Selma location. We had stopped there on a suggestion from a salesman at Keller Ford in Hanford where we had just picked up our new truck. (Was on the way home north). Excellent dinner! October 2023 we met some family members at the Madera location for lunch. Again, excellent! November 2024, we were in Fresno and on the way home stopped in at the Madera location again. No disappointment! We've had great food, and excellent service every time we've been there. This time I had the Chili Con Carne. Wife got the Enchilada Suizas. Both were delicious! That's our stop for Mexican food when we're in that area from now on. read more

Stopped in here for lunch while our EV was charging next door at the Walmart parking lot. The food was excellent and the staff friendly. I came here the other night for dinner with my family and had a good experience! The restaurant is tucked away in a strip mall and upon entering, it was clean and nicely decorated for Christmas! We were immediately sat and greeted. I started with a blended strawberry margarita. The margarita was tasty, but barely had any tequila in it. I would've liked to taste a bit more tequila. We all started with a chili verde cheesy dip. This was delicious and gone immediately! Their chili verde sauce is very savory and has great flavor and the dip had the perfect balance of sauce to cheese. The chips were crispy without being overly salted or greasy. Their salsa was also very fresh. For dinner, I had a 3-item combination with a beef taco, cheese enchilada, and steak quesadilla with rice and beans. This was gigantic and I definitely could not finish the whole thing! I just wanted a little taste of everything :) The taco was perfectly crispy and had a generous portion of flavorful beef, as well as lettuce, tomatoes and cheese. The cheese enchilada was super cheesy and the red sauce on it was delicious. The quesadilla was grilled perfectly. The rice and beans were very good too. For dessert, we had the fried ice cream. This was also delicious! It was perfectly fried and had chocolate sauce and whipped cream. The service was also pretty good. We had everything we needed and the staff were friendly.
