My wife and I are visiting her granddaughter at the children's hospital. Visiting hours are over when the hunger hits. The first floor cafeteria and separate Starbucks is closed. But we hear there is an oasis in our dry deserted place; the second floor café! After hitting a couple of dead ends, we find a darkened double door with just one word screen printed on the lightly frosted glass: Oasis. After confirming it was still open, the choices at this hour looked dank. A traditional menu is no where in sight. The lone attendant informs us they have burgers, pizzas and croissant sandwiches. We opted for the personal pizza where you can add toppings similarly to Subway. Mine had pepperoni, mushrooms and pickled jalapeños. It was awesome. The crust was just the right combination of crunchy and soft. The taste was great too. My wife also marvelled at the crust and taste. We will eat there again!

As you walk into the restaurant, you'll note this is an upscale, elegant restaurant, with a beautiful decor, and friendly staff who are dressed in ties. The staff will welcome and seat you... and your menu will be brought to you immediately, as Langostino's takes pride in their amazing service. On this beautiful Thursday evening, I happened to be enjoying the amazing Mexican seafood cuisine with my friends Jerry and Edna, who happen to live north of the border in the greater McAllen, Texas area. As the name "langostino's" applies - that's "lobster" in Spanish - Langostino's specializes in seafood, and the extensive menu features just about every variety of Mexican seafood that you could imagine. After placing our orders, we were treated to corn tortilla chips, with TWO varities of fresh, in-house made salsa, along with bowls of fish soup as appetizers. Oh yes... what a way to get dinner started! Edna ordered her favorite dish of "Filete Almendrado," which is fried fish fillets, covered with white almond sauce, and a side of white rice. This is not your "typical" Mexican fish fare, as Langostino's Restaurant is a class-act, and this is world-class fare in any country. My friend Jerry and I ordered identical dinners of "Camarones Rellenos Empanizados," which features breaded shrimp, stuffed with cheese, wrapped in bacon, and deep-fried to a golden goodness. Included with the main course are white rice, fries, and a small dinner salad. Where are the refried beans? You're on the east coast of Mexico, and refried beans aren't common as they are on the west coast, or the central portions of the country. On the east coast of Mexico, refried beans are replaced with plain white rice or fries. My friend Jerry Flinn describes Langostino's Restaurant as "affordable elegance" and I would agree with him, as the restaurant is elegant, the service is remarkable, the food is fantastic, and the cost of dining is more than affordable, even by Mexican standards. When you're in the mood for fine dining in Cd. Rio Bravo, with the emphasis on the best seafood you can find, look no further than Langostino's Restaurant. However, the food is overpriced and the service we received was dismissive. There were a lot of flies inside, and we found a fly in our margarita after a couple of sips. When we brought this up to the server, no apologizes were made and it was brushed over. We were told they replaced it with a new one, but the glass we received after was the exact same level it had been previously, which we were told was due to restaurant policy. Important to note, the "full" glass we were given not even a full glass. We returned the drink due to not feeling confident in the change. Would not recommend this place, and would recommend driving out to some of the other further restaurants in the area!
