To start with the positive, it had a good ambiance and has a picturesque environment for dining out for a special occasion or simply sharing a meal with family. However, the food is overpriced and the service we received was dismissive. There were a lot of flies inside, and we found a fly in our margarita after a couple of sips. When we brought this up to the server, no apologizes were made and it was brushed over. We were told they replaced it with a new one, but the glass we received after was the exact same level it had been previously, which we were told was due to restaurant policy. Important to note, the "full" glass we were given not even a full glass. We returned the drink due to not feeling confident in the change. Would not recommend this place, and would recommend driving out to some of the other further restaurants in the area! read more

The aesthetics will bring you in and take back to an old hacienda as I would imagine it. The decor and architecture is beautiful and a lot of attention to detail went with designing and building this place. Everyone in my party raved about their plates and their meals. I had the chile relleno and it was amazing along with the beautiful plating. The service was great. Everything was clean to include the bathrooms. I left with a smile and a full tummy. read more

My family is born and raised from Weslaco, TX. We have been eating at Nana's since Day 1 when they started as a little shack and have seen them completely just turn this place into something so beautiful. We have never had a bad experience from the awesome wait staff, yummy food and service. Anytime we have guests in town this is a must take them to spot! This place is Amazing! The layout, architecture, decor & set up is beautiful. The attention to detail is sensational; from the brickwork, tiles, iron & wood used is beautifullylaid out. It transforms you to a festive colorful town plaza in old Mexico. It is worth the visit just for the beauty of the place. The food is also a treat. I specifically went for their Mexican Patriotic dish of Chile En Nogada (served from July-September), which is very hard to find & so glad they give honor to the dish of Mexico. The white walnut cream sauce topped with its toasted almonds, pomegranate seeds, & parsely is phenomenal. It tops the Chile which is stuffed with beef & pork and seasonal fruits. Together they bring an explosion of flavors & a delicious dining experience! To see the Chile En Nogada served in their beautiful artesonal blue patterned platters brings honor to the dish. It has been at least 3 years, brought extended family to enjoy a dinner. The edition to the building is spacious and beautifully decorated. The food was fantastic and plentiful. The service was excellent, she was very attentive and friendly. The restaurant has an additional way to make money that tugs on emotions; taking pictures of the group and then couples. The worker comes back with the free picture and five additional pictures for sale, $15 a piece or if two or more are purchased then they are $10 a piece. read more

Great Mexican spot for large parties or a lunch or dinner date. They recently remodeled and added a lot more indoors seating. The decor is beautiful with an old Mexican style with bright colors. Makes for great pics outside and inside. The servers and staff are always very friendly and accommodating. The food is actually awesome in my opinion. They actually are one of the only places in the RGV that make lonches with ground beef just like the originals across the border in Nuevo Progresso (Lonches are little delicious fried mini bolillos filled with meat and veggies.) They also use cabbage and not lettuce keeping them true to the original. Same goes for their tacos Progresso style. All the food here is pretty good and it looks like they recently revamped their menu. If you're craving great Mexican with a beautiful ambience of old Mexico, then check this place out. read more

A group of seven of us came to this restaurant today for lunch and I can't recommend it enough. They seated our large party quickly even though the place was crowded. The building is beautiful, decorated in splendid Mexican architecture and design. The food was delicious and I was even able to enjoy a vegan meal. The service was fast and friendly. This place is stunning! Absolutely gorgeous and has the most amazing art and decor! Just to visit the structure of this place is worth it! But it's not only beautiful, the food is amazing and the service a 10/10! The team is welcoming, attentive, friendly and quick to serve! While we dined inside we noticed military members and law enforcement officers also enjoying a meal here. I assume it was the manager he came and thanked them for their service and offered both parties a discount which was so awesome to see. Our server was great and brought our food quickly. We tried the Nanas Sampler, chicken flauta special, chips and salsa, tacos de bistec and everything was exceptional! No complaints. Although it is smaller size items you still fill! The food is well priced too! They also have a little shop where you can buy authentic handmade Mexican items like mugs, bags, earrings, and more! Traveling through South TX with my family and we got a bit hungry so of course it's up to me to find the best spot, and Nana's didn't disappoint. It was so good we had to make a 2nd visit as we were leaving town! First stop we tried lonches with bistec and they were so good, the bread was fried to perfection and we added grilled onions + avocado. Truly, the authentic lonches I've been missing! Not only that, but the charro beans were absolutely delicious as well. I got a limonada to drink and it was okay, but I was wishing for an horchata. Second visit I got the chilaquiles and they didn't disappoint at all, my sister got breakfast lonches with chorizo and they were also sooo good. We each got an iced coffee, I got the cajeta iced coffee and her the tres leches iced coffee. Both were so good - not too sweet but not too strong, and topped with a yummy cookie. Not only was the food good but the outside was absolutely beautiful, and they even have a store out front. Our servers were very nice as well, we'll definitely be making this a staple spot for every time we come to visit family. read more

Let me start off by saying I remember this place when it was a side room that had maybe 4-5 tables. It was small but the food was delicious, lonches and frijoles especiales were top notch. Fast forward some years later and this place has grown into a must visit destination if you are in the Valley. The restaurant is beautiful and has plenty of room inside and out, recommend sitting outside of the weather permits. My grandmother who is Mexican American says it is exactly like restaurants in Mexico. Service is great, someone will always make sure you are taken care of. Now the star of the show, the food. If it's your first time here you have to get the lonches fully loaded, I will say I don't particularly like the extra charge for the avocado and queso but what the heck live a little when your there. I don't believe the frijoles especiales are on the menu but ask and you shall receive, charro beans with meat, cheese and avocado you can't go wrong. My youngest got street tacos and they are good if you're in the mood for more traditional fair. My oldest got what the online menu says 3 chili pasta but I feel when we went it was called something different. But the flavor of the pasta, the creaminess of the Alfredo sauce was something you get at a high end Italian restaurant, but at a taqueria. It if a must try after you have a the lonches. To summarize this is one of my favorite spots in the Valley and to see them have such success truly fills my heart with joy. To your continued success Nanas! read more

The place is absolutely gorgeous. They have really done so many updates in the last couple of years. We hadn't been in quite a while bc the service there is terrible. And we finally went again and were quickly reminded why we stopped going there. The service! I will never understand why they don't take the time to train their wait staff. They never come to check if you need more water or if you need anything else. We waited for a while to see if we saw our waitress bc she forgot to bring us forks and the food was already not hot when it came out so it was even worse after we finally got forks! This might be one of the best places I've ever eaten! Nana's Taqueria not only is beautiful, but the wait staff was perfect and food was delicious! The weather was Chamber of Commerce , so I sat outside and took it in. The chips and salsa/dip were all good. I ordered the beef fajitas and they were delicious! This is one of the most unique and culturally rich establishments I've been at! I loved walking around the beautiful buildings and checking out the gift shop with so much color and personality! The restaurant inside was homey and they were able to seat us quickly. Now the food! Since we came for brunch we tried their Q lonches which are stuffed with eggs, bean, cheese and your choice of meat. We had to get their original lonches too because it wouldn't be a trip to Nana's without that. The lonches were so flavorful and I love how fluffy and light the bread was - it was like a pillow! they've renovated this place so gorgeously since I last came here! it's so bright, open, and decorated so nicely. their restrooms, however, still need some renovations as it was pretty cramped and hardly had any ventilation. this place definitely has reasonable prices, most items range from $10-$15 each. I got the tacos al pastor and enjoyed the flavor, but think it would have been better with fresh onion. my mom got the tacos de bistec and while the meat was very tasty, the taco itself was so insanely oily that I gave up on eating the tortilla and just ate the inside. adding the salsa verde was the cherry on top for both tacos. workers were always walking around and extremely helpful. read more

My husband and I actually had our engagement party here when the business was starting to take off and it's growth absolutely just lifts our hearts to see so many people enjoy this restaurant that holds a very special place in our hearts. I recently went to nanas taqueria and got seated at approximately 1:15. People that sat way after us got attended and got their drinks and chips as soon as they got seated. No one attended us until probably 15-20 minutes after we got seated to only get our drinks. By that time we were ready to order but it seemed like our server was to rushed and could only get our drinks. Once he finally came back with the drinks we tried to order the chilaquiles buffet and by that time it was 1:50. And the buffet ends at 2pm so we were unable to order what we wanted since we were unattended for such a long time. He proceeds to be un attentive and even rude. I really like this place. The vibes are so immaculate. They even have a cute gift shop on the side. It really reminds me of Mexico. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Service is really good. Lemonade is delicious. I got the birria tacos, and my parents got the lonches. Birria tacos were okay, but the consome was not right. HOWEVER, their lonches were so good, and I would get those next time. I think I just ordered the wrong thing off the menu.
