The cheese, pears and balsamic glaze all joined together to make a fabulous dish! My husband had the Pepperoni Pizza and he said it was great. Btw, they make their own dough for the pizza and it is perfect. Our friend had the Shrimp Scampi and he thoroughly enjoyed it. The restaurant is clean and offers comfortable and spacious seating and pleasant decor. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient. We will be back and we hope you will go, as well. They have 2 additional spaces for groups and special occasions and they have a step down lounge adjacent to the bar with tvs going - perfect for watching the game! Please go! You won't be disappointed!

We also ordered a regular pepperoni pizza. The pizza was really cheesy, which I loved but I think it could have stood to be in the oven a couple more minutes because the center was a little too soggy. But the outer crust was nice and crisp. I ordered the tortellini bolognese. The pasta was cooked nicely but the sauce did not taste like traditional bolognese sauce. It tasted like regular meat sauce. That being said, I enjoyed the taste of the sauce but it was not worth the 20 dollar price, especially since it wasn't even bolognese. The service was nice. Our waitress was attentive and since we were the only ones there at the time, our food came out pretty quick! The space itself was clean and felt homey. Would have loved some Italian music but we enjoyed ourselves either way. All in all, this place was ok, not great but definitely better than some other Italian places I've been. With a few improvements, their food could be really great!

The restaurant is very dark in places, but each table has lamps which made the vibe very cozy. Our server gave recommendations, and we ended up with the cheese ravioli appetizer, which was absolutely delicious!!! 3 generously sized fried ravioli, filled with cheese and spinach, which resembled a nice spinach artichoke dip. We were also given a loaf of ciabatta bread with garlic olive oil to dip in. The bread had a nice crust and was very soft on the inside. My wife had the Scallop toscana pasta, which had 5 perfectly cooked scallops with a fresh pesto sauce with spaghetti pasta. Her pasta was delicious, with a very fresh herb tasting pesto, and the pasta was perfectly cooked. I honestly enjoyed her dish more than I did mine! I had the house signature, Spaghetti and meatballs. It was a tomato sauce spaghetti with 2 almost baseball sized meatballs. The meatballs were moist and very hearty, and tasted amazing. The sauce on my spaghetti tasted very fresh. It was good and had great flavor, however I feel that it was slightly bland for my taste(to be fair I enjoy things on the saltier side). My only real dislike about the spaghetti is that the sauce seemed to be very watery, and did not cling to the pasta very well. I'd like a thicker sauce, but other than that I really enjoyed it. For dessert, I ordered a crème brûlée, which was absolutely delicious. The custard wasn't too sweet but had great flavor otherwise, and it had a thick, crunchy sugar topping. The dark spot on the topping may have been burnt just a bit, it wasn't bad, but I did not enjoy that as much as the rest. Overall very tasty. My wife ordered the Italian cheesecake, which looked absolutely stunning. A very large slice of a ricotta based cheesecake with a blackberry topping. It was smooth, rich, and absolutely delicious. Only issue with the cheesecake is that we couldn't finish it! Overall I would highly recommend The Meatball Cafe, and my wife and I may be returning for dinner tonight with my buddy and his fiancé. This place will be on my list for every SPI trip!!!! (Forgot to get a pic of the ravioli)

I ordered a glass of the house Chianti and was very surprised at how good it was. I ended up ordering a liter for the table. I had the minestrone soup and the flavor was bold and amazing! My GF opted for a house salad and it was pretty good. She decided to go with the chicken fettuccine as her entrée and was quite delicious. The sauce was not too thick but had tons of flavor. I decided to go with the linguine scampi with shrimp and a lemon butter sauce and this was 10/10 amazing! I finished the whole plate and used the house bread to mop up the left over sauce! The bread tasted fresh and airy. The staff was friendly and like I said the environment didn't scream Italy but none of that matters when compared to how good the food is. I would have eaten this food in the alley, it was sooo good! This place is definitely a hidden gem and I can't wait to go back there and try other items on their menu!

We started off with some bread (it's free), it was fresh and delicious. We asked for the calamari as an appetizer, it was great. We also got some cheesecake, it was my favorite dish, and a great way to end this flavorful experience. Will be coming back!

Our go to pizza is the spicy pepperoni . All their other dishes look delicious as well. If you're going on the wkends, I suggest a reservation as the place gets packed, but the young ladies who seat you are always accommodating either way. We've sat at the pizza bar as well. Sitting at the pizza bar is cool because you get to see and interact with the kitchen staff, who are also very friendly, as they make your food. On a side note, we went last night & had a very rude and impatient couple sitting behind us who did nothing but complain about the silliest of things. It was a very busy night for the crew. They walked out without giving the restaurant a chance despite the staff trying to be very accommodating. Their loss because they missed out on delicious food. I also want to recognize the young staff who greet and wait on you. They're very polite and spunky. They remind me of my own daughter who is about the same age. Their service is top notch from the wait staff to the cooks and everyone involved. RGV, you're missing out if you don't try this little Weslaco gem.
