Pre-Pandemic we would eat here about once a week. Food and service was great. It has been close to a year since we had eaten here. Over the last 3 weeks, we have tried eating here again and tonight was our last attempt. Our previous 2 trips, I ordered the carnitas tacos. Both times there were hunks of cartilage and bone with the waitress both times telling me it was fat and was normal. Tonight, not wanting to go through that again, I ordered the Tacos Al Pastor on corn tortillas. 30 minutes later our food was delivered. I started dressing the tacos before realizing they brought out beef tacos on flour tortillas. I called the waitress over and explained the mistake and she took my food to "get it straight". A minute or two later she returns with my "corrected" order. They had just taken the meat from the previous wrong tacos and dumped it onto corn tortillas. Pointed this out to the waitress and she took it away again to "get it fixed". At this point I told her that I no longer wanted anything and got a shrug. Asked for the manager and explained what happened and she just did not seem to care. She kept talking over me as I was trying to tell her that I do not eat beef. Her response was "Well beef is what is in the Al Pastor tonight" and after another minute or two, she said she would address it with the kitchen and she would bring me out more. Once again, she was told I don't eat beef. She never took responsibility for the wrong food or the fact that I did not get anything to eat. Once this was pointed out to the waitress, they finally agreed to take the tacos off our bill. Neither the manager nor waitress seemed to care if that there might be an allergy or medical reason that I don't eat beef. read more

HORRIBLE PLACE TO WORK .......... they nerver close. This establishment is operated by 3 brothers ( do you think your emplyess dont have families ) i had asked for the day off in advance my manager Carlos quote ( no body is having the day off if your a no show you will be fired ) I have kids, they want to spend time with me. Hernandez brothers over work servers having them work 50 55 hours a week and only paying them 40 hour a week if we complain we get fired . SAD for me im undocumented and cant say nothing. read more

Of the many Mexican restaurants in Smithfield, San Marcos is above average. I love their salsa which seems extra fresh and the chips are good but I usually get quesadillas at a Mexican restaurant and there's just seem extra greasy. So San Marcos will never be my first choice but fortunately for them my family prefers San Marcos. read more
