I don't write reviews often, but this one is absolutely deserved. I just got my SUV detailed here, and I am honestly blown away by the results. The team went above and beyond what I was expecting. They conditioned all of the leather, steamed and cleaned every single floor mat, and somehow managed to make every inch of the interior look brand new again. The attention to detail was incredible. They cleaned areas I didn't even think about, and when I got in my car afterward, it felt like I was sitting in a completely different vehicle. Everything looked spotless, smelled fresh, and had that "new car" feeling all over again. What impressed me most was how much care they clearly put into their work. I've been coming to San Mateo Car Wash since about 2023-24, when South City Car Wash closed. These guys did a great job on the BMW I was looking to sell, and continue to do a good job with my Altima. I guess you get what you pay for. A legit full detail carwash can run you hundreds of dollars. Here it's $80. My coworker needed his van detailed for the work he does and they missed a bunch of spots. They half heartedly dried the windows. Didn't really vacuum and their detail work was done so quickly that by the time we went to the vending machine they called us back. If they continue to do this it's cheaper to wash your own car, then spray and dry your own windows and lightly vacuum your car for $20. read more

Came in for a quick exterior wash due to time, and once again they did an excellent job -- my car came out clean and shiny with great attention to detail. I've also used their full service interior and exterior wash with steam cleaning in the past after a friend got sick and threw up on my passenger floor (not fun), and I was seriously impressed. They completely removed the stains and the smell, which I honestly didn't think was possible. If you're looking for a car wash thats a notch higher than your average drive thru car wash, check this spot out. They offer everything from interior, exterior, wheels/rim, and different protection packages. The most expensive package is the detailing option which is about $80. For $25, we opted for the exterior wash. We expected it to take 8-10 minutes but boy, it was WAY faster than that. First you pull up to the pay station, choose your cleaning option, pay adding an additional tip, and then proceed forward. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow. We were assisted onto the tracks, parked in neutral position, and from there they pre rinsed the front of our car. We ran through the drive through and exited at the end of the tunnel. Pulling forward, we parked while they finished towel drying our car. The car was fairly clean despite a few pollen marks along the top of the car still visible. I was still pretty impressed with the quality of the car wash and value. Next time I'm in town, I would come back here because the process was fast and efficient and it feels good to support a small business like this rather than a chain gas station. read more

After 2 months, I took my brand new car for its first wash to San Mateo Car Wash. As a true Yelp Elite, I read several reviews for other options in the area and was quite disappointed to find that the car wash game in the Peninsula is lacking. Since this was close by I decided to take a chance. I describe this is an almost self serve drive through car wash. There are two lanes where you select your wash and pay with a credit card on the machine. Miguel was super helpful explaining all the options. I went with the least expensive option for $40 for a full wash, vacuum, hand towel dry and wheels clean and shine. They offer a monthly subscription for $35 for unlimited car washes which I think is not a bad deal for those of you who keep your car pretty clean on the inside. My car doesn't get too dirty on the inside or outside so I would probably never need to get anything other than a basic wash and vacuum so this works for me. read more

Severe Warning: Unsafe Equipment, Dishonest Management, and Blaming Customers Their automatic car wash damaged my brand-new Tesla's front bumper and bent the license plate. This was only an exterior wash, and their employees didn't inform me about the significant damage after the car exited the tunnel or even during towel drying -- clearly prepared to conceal the truth. The equipment they use is outdated, unsafe, and not suitable for high-quality vehicles. Instead of taking proper responsibility, management refused to provide insurance information and tried to steer me toward their affiliated body shop, which was not Tesla-certified for warranty protection and Ultra Red finish matching. They capped the maximum amount they would pay based on a prearranged, biased, and incomplete estimate from that body shop -- far below what proper certified repairs would require. They also attempted to shift blame onto me, suggesting the damage was caused by my license plate holder, and further threatened to withdraw their offer if I contacted my insurance or did not keep the matter private. Their behavior was irresponsible, dishonest, and completely unacceptable. ------------------------------------------------ Update: This matter has been resolved through a goodwill contribution toward the repair costs. Finally took my car in for a full detail & wash after years of it not being washed and I had a pleasant experience from start to finish! I had a very sticky residue on my left passenger side that I was afraid they wouldn't be able to get out, as well as a bunch of cat hair inside my car. However, they're all gone now. Sparkly clean inside and out! The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and you can tell their attention to detail is spot on. I brought my car to the San Mateo Car Wash on a Sunday afternoon. There were lots of cars, but luckily I didn't have to wait. I got the ultimate interior and exterior wash and was in and out of there within 30 minutes. I was honestly a bit nervous cause I typically only hand wash my car. But after this experience, I was pleasantly surprised. I have a dog, so I desperately needed the inside of my car wiped and vacuumed. I feel like the staff got my car more than 90% there. This car wash is in a convenient location at the corner of Hillsdale Blvd. and Saratoga Drive. There was no line and we pulled up to the entry point where an attendant gave us choices of the services they offer. He also offered us their special "buy 3 get 1 free", we appreciate that he was just sharing information and was not upselling. We've been here several times before but today was our first time to return where the customer actually drives the car thru the car wash. I can see how this may be a precaution in light of COVID. At the end of the wash, someone directs you towards attendants who wipe dry the exterior while the customer stays in the car. Then they have you drive towards the team that would do the interior. We exited our car and headed in to allow the team to clean the inside of our car. There used to be a little gift shop but that's all gone. It's been replaced by a clean seating area. However, before we could even take a seat, our car was ready! The fast service would have been much appreciated, but they missed quite a bit of things - wet spots on our dashboard, spots on our windshield, and they could have done better with the vacuum. All these for a whopping $37 for the deluxe wash (interior & exterior). We will definitely shop around for a car wash that gives more value for our money. read more

Pretty disappointed with my car wash. You know how you freshly come out of the car wash and you're feeling good, the car is still kinda shiny so you can't really see anything? Well, my car went straight into the garage, I swear I didn't drive it anywhere else, and when I tried to take the kids to school the next morning I finally noticed all the dirty smudges left on the car. I almost thought, wait a minute, did I wash the right car? Because the outside doesn't have a shine to it, it looks like I washed it myself and left all these splatters all over the car. They have a menu of washes to order, but make sure you check the website before you show up because they had options that were not on the menu that will save you money. I got to drive the car into the car wash, which I love because my dogs go nuts when they see the guys scrubbing down the windows. Once you finish, hop out and take a seat on their patio or in their air conditioned waiting room. The facility is clean, including the restrooms. The service was extremely disappointing and when I made my concerns to the manager (a Latino guy in glasses but REFUSED TO GIVE ME HIS NAME WHEN I ASKED). I paid 32+ dollars for a car wash which included an extra charge for detailing service. After the service was done, I addressed 2 or 3 spots that needed attention, the manager refused and say that's how it is. I even showed the manager that it was not a scratch and I was able to wipe it off. Though it required a bit of elbow grease, the Mgr refused to do something about it. What the tipping point that made me upset is he refused to provide me his name. Why is he so scared? Reporting to his mgr/owner that he would get in trouble?? In addition what made me disappointed is the effort. If they JUST tried to wipe off the spots I mentioned and if it could not come off, I can understand. BUT THEY REFUSED THE EFFORT!! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE I lost complete trust and confidence in this place. No wonder they need groupon to boost their business. This place is really great. I have been taking my cars through out the years. Yes - prices has climbed, but so does the salaries and everything in the Bay area. If anyone wants fast good quality of care, walk in and leave with a clean car, someone needs to do it and have enough people. At least I see some of the familiar faces there. I am welcomed with a professional personal (same manager usually, which at least says they care enough to stay at one location). I have not tried the membership but do have a pre paid card which is a nice option that keeps me coming to the same location. There is place to wait that is clean and shaded. The If they forgot something they are always fast at fixing it. No problems ever- I will try the wax service soon. read more

After hand dry, car was still wet and dripping. Windows were not clean and car was still dirty. Place was practically empty and still felt rushed.
