Please do not buy fruits here. when I bought a watermelon, it was super watery and mushy, and it was also not that sweet. I also bought a pomelo. It smelled like gasoline, and I got a stomach ache when I ate it. The store's floor are brown tiles that look a little bit dirty. Overall atmosphere is 6/10. Anything besides the fruits are pretty good and cheap including snacks, things inside a freezer, meat, seafood, and branded foods, and etc. I don't know about the fish, but I heard that it's pretty bad. This supermarket reminds me of a Vietnamese market in East San Jose. They offer a variety of Chinese and Southeast Asian groceries. The meat and seafood section smells bad, though. I've given San Pablo Supermarket multiple chances, but I'm very disappointed. This is the third time we've purchased a box of green mangoes, making sure they looked fresh from the outside. However, each time, the mangoes were completely brown inside instead of yellow, making them inedible. When we tried to return them, the store refused to accept the return, even though this seems to be an ongoing issue. If a product is bad every time, customers should at least be offered a refund or exchange. This is a waste of money, and it's frustrating that they don't stand behind the quality of their products. I'm sharing this to warn others--check your purchases carefully before leaving the store. I hope management takes responsibility and improves their product quality and customer service. read more

Your typical Asian grocery supermarket that carries a lot of imported products from the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand and other Southeast Asian countries. They also have products from China and Japan. They carry all brands of fish sauce, soy sauce, oyster sauce, vinegar and all types of sauces that you smell at your grandma's house when their cooking fried fish and other good stuff that you grew up with. They have produce from the Central Valley, seafood from coasts and pork and beef from cattle and swine factories. If you want poultry, the have that, too. But you ain't getting the top quality meats here if you're looking for organic. And typical of most Asian and Hispanic grocery stores, they have that random space that are usually at the front corner that sells futbol (as in soccer) gears from cleats, to balls and jerseys. And the expensive liquor bottles are always locked up in a glass cabinet case located near the front of the store. I feel like I'm being stereotypical of my review, but I can't help since it's exactly that. And another typical characteristic is that you're not gonna encounter great service and friendly employees here. I love this place. The check out stands are agony but the selection outweighs the pain. They carry everything I cant find at other asian grocers. It's my favorite place for fresh healthy looking baby, and regular bok choy. Also those refrigerated fat rice noodles are here in several varieties. Poor customer service. The associates I was pertaining to is the lady that I purchased a cartoon of Winston cigarettes. I bought approximately around 4:04pm. Today we'd October 4, Later around 4:15pm that's like 11 minutes later I decided to return the cigarettes carton because I changed my mind. The associates working in the cash register said the cigarettes can not be returned and she insisted it's their policy however as i explained to her the receipt say at the bottom of the receipt "returned and exchange within 24 hours with the original receipt and no return exchange on liquor and electronics. As I've explained to both the associates I was dealing with needs further teaching on good customer service. The 1st associate I dealt with said she is been working for 20 years however she doesn't even know how to deal with situations like mind she has poor communication skills, poor customer services very combative doesn't listen not compassionate and thinks she's been working for 20 years in that market store however longevity is not the measures of your good customer services if you don't act like one. 20 years working does not mean you have good customer service as what she thinks. The 2nd associate needs further training and education on how to deal with good customer services she needs to develop listening skills she didn't show an effort to inform her manager that I am waiting She is very arrogant argumentative very poor customer service management should be aware on her two employees very bad customer service. My Mom and I went shopping at the store on 7/18/24. I noticed a very rancid smell throughout the store as I walked in. I noticed other people in the store covering their noise with their shirts because of the smell. I asked my Mom if she noticed the smell, and she said she didn't because she had hay fever and couldn't smell it. Until we got closer to the meat department, that is when she noticed the smell. It was hella strong. When we got to the checkout line, a customer in front of us asked the cashier about the smell, and he told her that they were cleaning the meat department. This is my go to store for grocery store supplies and everyday foods I cook at home. I usually come here to pick from there wide variety of fresh produce and herbs and spices. I also like that they have fresh seafood from everything from fish, shellfish and even snails and crabs and even provide a cleaning service for your seafood. When in season they sell live crawfish for a unbeatable price where you can do a seafood boil with friends and family. The seasonings and sauces are second to none where they basically have everything you need to whip up for favorite dish! They sell huge bags of rice and also they have kitchenware for sale too. The instant noodle section is enormous where they basically have every kind of noodle you would like from every country! The exotic fruits are my favorite where I personally enjoy the jackfruit, Logan, and dragon fruit. Customer service is always on top of there game and the lines move fast! Cleanliness could be better with deeper cleans in cracks and crevices but I'm not complaining. They take AMEX so if your have the blue cash preferred expect that 6% cash back! This is to anyone who loves Drunken Noodles or Chow Fun. I friggin love these dishes. Recently I tried to look for Wide Rice Noodles at my local Ranch 99 and Seafood City but I had no luck. After hours of looking around the internet and talking to people at work, I found out from one of my coworkers that this supermarket might have them. When I walked in I went straight for the noodle section. As I walked through the vegetable section i thought to myself, "If they don't have these noodles, I'm done." I was so happy to find them already pre-cut in a package! Now I can finally make one of my favorite dishes at home if want! I will say that the noodles are a little smaller though then your typical take out place. Next time I am gonna try to see if they have like the little rice sheets that I can maybe cut up myself. Hardest part of making the Chow Fun was getting the noodles out of the package. I recommend cooking the day of because after a day I feel like the noodles stuck to each other more so it was harder to break them apart. I tried boiling them first and that didn't work to well. They become too soft and clumpy when you cook them. Luckily I bought a second package just incase I messed up the first time. I tried microwaving the noodles for 1-2 mins and that worked a lot better. I peeled them apart onto a plate and just threw them in the wok once I was done frying the meat and veggies. But anyways, my week is complete now after finding these noodles. I'm so friggin happy I can make this now. Thanks again San Pablo Supermarket!! read more

This is truly an incredible market. I've never seen such a wide selection of things to buy. This is specifically an Asian and Latinx grocery store. I've seen all sorts of people in here: Latinx, Chinese, Filipino, Vietnamese, Lao. This is a great market to stock up on pantry goods, especially if you like SE Asian cooking. FISH SAUCE SELECTION: Like the reviews say, they have an amazing supply of fish sauce. They have the cheapest Red Boat fish sauce I've seen in any market. I managed to find brown Megachef fish sauce, which is a fish sauce made for Thai cooking. The blue label is more common so I was happy to find it. It was also only $2.99...SCORE! Other interesting things I've seen: - huge bags of pho noodles - frozen Lao sausages - Indonesian Kecap Manis - vegetarian fish sauce made from pineapples - Vietnamese pho base - all your classic Thai sauces and brands (Healthy Boy, Pantai Norasingh, MaeKhrua, Hale soda, Kwong Hung Seng) - Zebra stainless steel spoons - Singha beer They really know their SE Asian clientele so that's their specialty. It's a huge market and it's quite clean. I came on a late Saturday morning and there was no line. I view this as my "pantry" market, where I need to stock up on specific sauces and brands. I like that the bottles are never dusty and they tend to be new, if you look at the expiration date. I also just enjoy walking down the aisles to see what interesting things they have. The cashier discriminates customers. There was a gentleman, of Mexican decent infront of me, took his groceries and when it came to pay, she turns the credit card mashine towards him, he puts in his card and easy said, he goes. When it came to me, (african American decent) ,she took my groceries and then as I expected for her to turn the mashine towards me, she asks me for my card. Well. That's a first. Secondly, she asks to see my I.D. okay, I pulled it out. If you are going to aske a customer for your I.D and take their card to swipe it yourself, it should also be done to all the customers, no matter how many times they have been there, or their ethnicity. I went grocery shopping here on Friday. When I was checking out, I realized I didn't bring my wallet! I had my driver license and library card in the side pocket of the purse but no credit cards and no cash! I checked my phone and asked the cashier if I can pay by Chase pay or digital Amex card, but he said they didn't accept those. Freaking out and not sure what to do, I asked the cashier if he had any suggestions. He asked if I could drive home to get my money, but I explained I live a bit far from there. I stood there helpless and dug through my purse again and again hoping I had money tucked away somewhere. He then offered to pay for me and have me pay him back through Apple Pay or Zelle. Turns out my Apple Pay wasn't set up. But Zelle I was able to do through Chase. Thank you to Khoa Bui the cashier, who kindly offered to help me out when I was in need, I was able to get my groceries and not having to make an extra trip there. There are kind people everywhere. It made my day! I regularly go to this supermarket. Maybe once a month. I like the selection of Asian veggies and specialty items here. Some items are cheaper and better quality here than other stores, like huge bags of bean sprouts for example. I also like that the location is so convenient, it's kind of in between the closest two Ranch 99s. read more

I've been this supermarket twice now, so I'm due to write a review... The pros: good variety of asian vegetables and fruits. Both times I went, I saw fresh lychee, longan, jackfruit, dragonfruits, rambutan! And I even saw fresh mangosteens when I first went there (it wasn't cheap though). The vegetables didn't look very fresh but descent and they had good varieties, even had greens that I didn't know or never ever saw elsewhere. The international food selections vary from Hispanic to chinese to vietnamese to Filipino to thai to indonesian! Lots of Instant seasonings available, and the frozen section is filled with items that are typically found only at asian stores plus more! The meat and seafood section also have good variety of items froma organs, boneless chicken feet, to fresh live seafood. They also offer free frying service for seafood. The only complain is that that whole section smells really bad! Lol After 2 visits, I have to say that I prefer Ranch 99 in El Cerrito and I feel that lots of the items at Ranch seems slightly fresher, however this place is also convenient for me so I definitely will come here often. read more

My rating is mostly for the seafood counter however the store does really stink when you walk in so there's that. If you go there you can count on being skipped over in line for another customer. I stood in line while two employees worked in the back while a line formed. When they finally came over and helped the two people in front of me naturally I thought I was next. Nope! Not today! The guy in back of me was helped. He was in the vicinity but not in line when I got in line. After waiting for a few more minutes we left. I was not acknowledged and decided to take my business elsewhere. But... it is the single easiest place to find Goldilock's baked goods. and I'm simply addicted to the Taisan chiffon rectangle that they sell. Sunday Funday, Grocery Day! This is the nearest asian supermarket from my house. Ill start off with my pros first: I find it fairly clean and organized with a nice variety of asian market ingredients. I saw a mixture of Philippine, Thai, and Chinese items. The staff who re-stock the shelves are friendly. The cons include: over priced items and some cashiers are not as friendly. In addition The carts are not wiped down so be sure to bring gloves. Produce variety is great. Must be a careful and knowledgeable shopper- everything is not as fresh they could be. It's no Whole Foods but definitely budget friendly. The store overall is stocked, a little overstocked, A LOT OF products. Some, in the frozen food area, a little bit unorganized. A lot of meat, a butcher, but I don't eat that but I do appreciate the fresh fish. Mounds of it and they would fry it for you, whole. Fresh carb, lobster, and the like. Typical American grocery items like bread, mayo, cheese, even milk...I'd skip this store for but if you got a recipe for an Asian dish...get your ingredients here. Want fresh crab...here. Came here to shop, I used the bathroom and ...you guess it no soap, no paper towels in there bathrooms not sanitary what so ever, we used there shopping cart to buy items nothing to sanitize cart we caught a virus here stomach started to rumble and yes you guess it diarrhea 6 times to the bathroom all night someone there had a virus or sick be warned people bring your sanitizing lotion or gel and wipe down everything or else your toilet will be your friend, and I recommend face mask in this place, I heard people get sick coming out of this store. read more
