Recently hosted a house warming party and decided to go with Moku's party trays to feed the guests. Ordered mad salad, chicken Katsu & Kalua pork about a week in advance and also got myself a sampler platter before just to make sure the food tasted good. On the day of the event, the food was ready in time and even poked holes in the covers for the Katsu to let the air out (genius). They PILED on the meat HIGH in the tray so I'm glad I got small trays instead of medium.All the guests loved it and some even went back for 2nds. I tried the crab rangoons and I will admit that they weren't as good as I was hoping them to be. The shell was a little puffy and not as crunchy as I was expecting. They still tasted good, though. For the drinks, I tried the strawberry frosty and I passionfruit frosty. Both were delicious. I really liked the cups that they came in. There's a hole in the lid that you can cover again. We recently found out about this place and have been a couple times now! Their serving sizes are large and they have a nice selection. Love their mixed plate and both their bbq meats and seafood are all delicious. We also tried their spam musubi and the malasadas. Spoiler alert the malasadas are basically pillsburry but deep fried and covered in powdered sugar. We aren't complaining because they are still delicious but don't expect actual malasadas. Their mac salad and rice are decent too. All in all they have good food and plate lunches that hit the spot! We'll definitely be coming back more. Fresher tasting Hawaiian BBQ. This opinion reflects the fact that I was in Oahu and stood in line at the Rainbow Drive-Inn in June. Old school and rib-sticking plate lunches. The MOKU katsu chicken was crisp and fresh. Served on a bed of steamed crisp cabbage and broccoli. the portion was plentiful The macaroni salad needed oomph. The scoop of rice was adequate. The Korean short rib plate was similar; the ribs were tender and the portions are generous. Tasty and maybe needed more garlic or soy? I got a small container of sauce but wanted something more punchy. For the Drinks: The passion fruit frosty was delicious and the mango fruit tea was refreshing. The containers for the drinks were ingenious. On the way home, I took that hairpin 270 degree on-ramp, westbound 80 off El Portal. The drinks tipped out of the holder. But, the containers kept the tea and the frosty from leaking out! Thank you! Also, you can designate the amount of sweetness for each drink and whether you want full ice or light ice. A novel idea. The one caution is if you order online; they will text you in minutes that your order is ready. The platform said the order would be ready in 15-20 minutes after I completed the payment. Nope. I got a text in 5 minutes and I was a good 29 minutes away on Eastbound 80. Next time, I will order at the counter. My food was lukewarm by the time I got home. I am so excited for Moku Hawaiian BBQ! I got takeout on a Friday night looking to enjoy some delicious Hawaiian bbq. The prices and portions were on point. I ordered the chicken katsu plate, bbq chicken plate, malasadas, and a cake puff boba tea. Seeing Malasadas on the menu made my heart happy! I missed eating these treats on Maui and they are super fluffy, light, and tasty! These are not filled but are rolled in a sugar mix. If only there was a lilikoi sugar dusting mmmm. The chicken katsu and bbq chicken were both really flavorful and not super greasy. The Mac is spot on and a good side to your dishes while the rice is nice and fluffy and sticky. The boba tea was so delicious and I loved the cake puff. They also have a creme brûlée tea and that will be my next to try! Didn't realize this place was right next to the San Pablo Supermarket which is honestly convenient! I was in a milk tea mood, but I saw their notice that they won't be serving milk teas anymore. I got a strawberry fruit tea and it came with lychee jelly and popping boba. Overall, this was a solid drink. I honestly prefer this over other places and I'm glad this place is closer to me. I haven't tried the food here yet but that will be for another visit. The price of the drink is pretty standard if you account for inflation nowadays. This new Hawaiian bbq restaurant just opened near the San Pablo Supermarket and offers a lot of different options for rice plates, appetizers, and drinks. I really like how they offer a mini plate option because I don't normally finish a regular plate from most Hawaiian bbq places. We ordered: - mini chicken katsu plate - mini kastu curry plate - extra macaroni salad (2 scoops) - potato croquettes (3) - 2 passion fruit teas The mini plate was more than enough. It included one small scoop of rice, one scoop of macaroni salad, and steamed veggies. They gave a lot of chicken kastu and we were very full at the end. We didn't even fully finish everything lol. The chicken was not greasy or oily and the katsu curry was not bad either. The regular kastu plate comes with a side of katsu sauce. The passionfruit tea comes with agar boba (crystal boba) and they give you an option to adjust the sugar level. I got normal sugar and the drink was not too sweet and not too bitter. It was really refreshing and I would get it again. We ordered for pick up and they gave us an eta of 10min. We expected the service to be slow, so we didn't pick up until maybe 20min after. We ordered on July 4 and when we came to pick up, there was no one else inside. Maybe it wasn't busy because of the holidays.
