    Thai delicacies galore!
    Miriam W.

Curry puffs, pad kee mao, khao soi, mango and sticky rice (when mangoes are in season), papaya salad, and so much more can be found on the weekends in this tiny El Cerrito grocery. The shelves groan under the weight of delicious prepared Thai food that's well-priced. Roong Jing Jing has become a Saturday tradition for us. The offerings change frequently according to season (and other factors that I'm not sure of) so every visit has some element of discovery. My daughter loves the rice cakes and looking at all of the brightly colored Thai desserts. I recommend coming with an open mind and arriving early.

Definitely would recommend this hidden gem! Has seasonings I can't find anywhere else! Saturday mornings they also have fresh food from local nearby restaurants! Definitely a must try!

The woman working was sweet and friendly. Small shop with a ton of Thai goodies- groceries and supplies, as well as ready to eat foods! I grabbed a selection of items today to try out and will be going back to try and catch the saku!

My new favorite place. If you love Thai food and sweets, this will be your favorite place too. I recently learned about their amazing Saturdays. Aka the day they have cooked food and desserts (prepared by different local businesses) available for purchase. And so I dragged my boyfriend to go with me this past Saturday lol. Got there around noon and it wasn't too busy and the selection of food was plentiful. There was just a couple of people inside, but the store is a little small, so you may have to navigate around people if it does get busier. The people working there were nice and smiley (land of smiles!). All the food is stacked on racks and shelves around the store - clearly labeled and most (not all) will have marked prices on them. You will find all sorts of dishes here - ranging from the typical pad thai and pad see ew to things you might not typically see at a lot of Thai restaurants. Out of the things we purchased, I enjoyed the Garden Rolls, Larb Beef, and Khao Soi the most. I feel like the food here tries to pack a more authentic amount of heat and acidity that is synonymous to Thai cuisine, which I highly appreciate. Make sure you make room for dessert because the selection here is HUGE. I studied abroad in Thailand years ago and I saw desserts here that I have not seen since I was in Thailand! Ony thing is, I do think some of the desserts are overpriced so :( Anyways, this is the real deal here. I hope you don't go or tell anyone else so this can remain a little secret piece of heaven.

***Pre-COVID review*** Found this place by accident as wifey was browsing through Yelp while we were filling up on gas at nearby Costco. Luckily, it was on a Saturday so they had the packaged food still available. We quickly drove here and even though it was later in the afternoon, they still had a few left and grabbed whatever we thought were good. Honestly though, everything looked good. We were also greeted by a nice gentleman, who was cheerful, friendly and helpful. When we got home, couldn't wait to open them up and enjoyed the wonderful combinations of textures, flavors and fresh herbs. As delicious as they were, we wanted to return the following Saturday and get here earlier so we can get dibs on whatever came that day. When we asked the gentlemen if they got the same type of food shipment every Saturday, he replied that it varies. That didn't deter us so we returned the following Saturday and was impressed by their selections. My eyes were bulging as I went "Takaw Mata" which is a Filipino phrase that is loosely translated into greedy eyes. Wifey got more mangoes, similar to what we purchased the previous week and whatever else looked good. I'm not too familiar or remember their names, but the most memorable dish was a ground pork wrapped in some type of rice noodle that came with fresh herbs and some awesome-tasting sauce. And whatever we got, the quality, freshness and the herbs were all so impressive and delicious. They also have a variety of desserts that are very similar to Filipino desserts as the majority of them are made from rice. They also have a good selection of fresh fruits, including some frozen durian. Wifey loves that stuff, but I've tried it and it's not my cup of tea. Since it's also a Thai grocery store, this is certainly the place to go for Thai ingredients that they may not sell at your local 99 Ranch or Asian grocery stores as they specialize primarily for the Thai community. I definitely wanna learn more about their fascinating cuisines and this is a great place to start. Come here early on Saturdays and check 'em out yourself. #YelpChallenge2020 review No. 87

I'm not sure there is better Thai food available nearby than there is delivered here on Saturday mornings. Such a sweet couple, too.

Saturday morning - 5 max people in the store. Masks on. Social distancing. Parking in the plaza out front.

Packaged Thai food goodness! With Covid Times there is restriction to wearing a along with 5 people max in the small store. In the store you'll find A TON of freshly packaged food items ranging from soups, curries, noodles, and desserts. They get these deliveries Saturday morning so if you want the best selection, go then.

In the past, while there, we've known them to stop taking orders at 8:45. We were ready looking forward to eating there and really disappointed that they didn't seat us. For people looking to eat here, make sure you arrive at least 35 minutes before closing and for the restaurant, you might want to be more clear on your listings what time you actually stop serving. We did however find a really good Thai restaurant alternative that we wouldn't have tried otherwise and they are open until 10 which is nice., We don't normally eat so late but last night we had some unavoidable delays. We wish they had been more flexible and clear on the hours of operation.

Okayyyy now let's get into it. Parking here is definitely challenging, so give yourself extra time. We came on Mother's Day with reservations at 2 PM, right before they closed for their dinner reset at 3, and we were still seated pretty quickly which I appreciated, especially with how busy it was. We sat outside on the patio and honestly it was such a nice vibe. They do have outdoor heaters if needed, but the weather was perfect that day. We did everything à la carte for a party of 7. Appetizers: Vegan Spring Rolls: 5/5 Super crispy and fresh. The chili peanut sauce was so good we kept going back for more. Crispy Pork Belly: 1/5 Way too overcooked for our liking. It came out super dry and chewy, almost like a thick pork jerky. Definitely not something we would order again. Main dishes: Panang Neua: 5/5 OMG. This was the dish I came for and it absolutely delivered. The meat literally falls off the bone and melts in your mouth. The sauce leans salty, so pairing it with the blue rice balances everything out perfectly. So rich and flavorful. Crab Fried Rice: 5/5 The large chunks of crab really made this dish stand out. It was flavorful, not dry, and not overly mushy either. Solid all around. Hat Yai Fried Chicken: 2/5 Too thin and too dry for us. I would not reorder this dish, but the roti it came with was actually really good dipped into the sauce. Beef Larb: 5/5 Wagyu beef? Say less. This dish was perfectly seasoned and packed with flavor. Straight chef's kiss. Yellow Curry: 4/5 Honestly you really can't go wrong with yellow curry here. Comforting, flavorful, and paired well with everything else we ordered. And of course we ended with the mango sticky rice to share because you simply have to. It was the mango on top to finish the meal. Overall, this Berkeley location easily gave us the best experience out of the three. Great service, beautiful patio seating, and several dishes that were genuinely memorable. We'll definitely be back for that Panang Neua alone.

I've always wanted to dine at Sistory for brunch, but coming in the evening, it wasn't too busy. There was a steady flow of customers and take-out orders. The restaurant is warm, cozy, and quaint. There are several tables for pairs or parties of four, plus some artwork displayed. There was only one server who was juggling customers, but we were well taken care of. My best friend and I shared Roti Dip, Pad Thai with Chicken, and Yellow Curry with Tofu. The roti was so flaky and warm! The Pad Thai tasted good and was typical of the ones I've had. The curry was robust and flavorful! Being mild, it was a bit spicier than we had anticipated. So if you have a low spice tolerance, keep that in mind! We also got Thai Tea, which was refreshing!
