Great spot for a happy hour in Downtown La Mesa. I believe the prices just changed but a few weeks ago when I went with a friend, the glasses were $5 and the flight was $10 - which is (or was) AMAZING. I got the Great Whites tasting, and then a glass of rose. The wines were ok, my favorite was definitely the rose! Service was very good. I was surprised on how big the space is - they have a nice area for events, or to hang out, and a stage for live music. I hope they go back to those prices but I will be back! read more

We stopped in here to do a tasting after the Friday night farmers market. The wine was good. They have a lot of tasting options. They give you a tasting card when they pour yours as well so you know what you are drinking. The staff was helpful and offered us an extra pour to try one more wine. The place is small but has ample seating. I would recommend stopping by here if you're in the area. read more

I found San Pasqual a few years back, as I used to work across the street. I was surprised as to how much I liked the wines. I have been returning periodically through the years. Sometimes I meet a colleague after work. Other times, I meet a friend for Sangria Sundays. They don't serve food (other than some small snacks), but sometimes we order from a nearby restaurant. One of my favorite wines is the Petit Syrah, a nice full red. I also really like the jabanero rose, which is very different from any wine I have ever had, and appeals to the spicy and sweet side. Recently, a friend and I took a cork wreath making class for the holidays. The owner taught the class, and she was quite a hoot! They gave us ample time to glue corks, drink wine, and deocorate. It was quite a zen experience. It's always nice to grab a drink and sit in downtown La Mesa. If you enjoy wine, you won't be sorry. read more

I'll admit my weakness: A small business in a big industry, an owner where you usually see a manager, a family in place of a Board of Directors -- this is what I like. Starting with that, it is true, I'd probably be partial to San Pasqual anyway. But this is a local, small business that also produces big and beautiful wine. The fact that the vintner and CEO is also the guy who greets you at the door is a bonus. True, the location is not typical or typically beautiful. San Pasqual is nestled between the freeway and a factory, not atop the rolling hills of Sonoma or Cote du Rhone. But even the location is somehow part of the charm -- reminding you that this is a real winery with real people and a real purpose, not a faux, Spanish-style hacienda that puts more thought into its post card than its petite syrah. Some basics: The grapes are locally grown, and many come from the Guadalupe Valley, where the industry is as young and vibrant as the vintner and the vines. The wines are nice and nicely priced, with my favorites being the Monte Soledad (a red) and the "Granacha Blanca" (a white wine made from a red grape). But I always leave a little room for dessert, in this case the velvety finish of the Coronado Port. But don't take my word for it ... Come by for a tasting! (Tues-Thurs, 11-4; Friday and Saturday, 12-6) With the winery being as close and convenient as it is (not far from PB and the Claremont Costco), you really have nothing to lose. In the worst-case scenario, you'll get a glimpse into the industry and a taste of what our region has to offer. Trust me, it's a lot more than meets the eye. PS - The Santa Fe Street location can be a bit tricky. (Note, this is NOT Morena Blvd.) To get there, my advice is to drive north on Mission Bay Drive, as if you were going to McDonald's or the In-and-Out. Just after you cross Balboa, veer right onto Damon Ave. That will take you to Santa Fe, where you'll make a left. San Pasqual is in a small strip of businesses on the right. (You can also make a right onto Santa Fe directly from Balboa, but this can be tricky if you haven't done it before.) read more

I came here on 8/1/21 for my fiancees 40th birthday. We really enjoyed our tasting and our time with Teresa the wine pourer. While not all the wine was to my liking, the wine itself was solid and I could find something to appreciate for each tasting I had. Teresa even gave us a taste of the wine slushy which was surprisingly good. So this place is definitely worth trying. read more

We recently joined the wine club here after trying the wines and attended a "release party." What a neat little company - everyone was very friendly and seemed to really enjoy working here. The other members struck me as friendly and nice too. The wine? With the exception of their rose, I truly enjoyed all of the ones I tried - a red cab franc, a three barrel blend, their merlot, the tawny port - you name it - I enjoyed it! I am looking forward to trying their whites as well. The warehouse is small, the batches are obviously very limited and they feature wines predominately made from grapes from San Diego county (yay local!) and seemingly exclusively from California if not from San Diego County. We are looking forward to trying more wines and events with San Pasqual! read more

Came here after enjoying a nice dinner date with my guy. Just what we needed after all that food.. WINE! Good wine at that. We got 4 tastings each and left with a bottle of delicious sangria! My boyfriend is a light weight and I pretty much can drink wine all day and still feel like running (Slow jogging.. okay walking) a mile! Either way they had tastings for both our pallets. They could gain a star if there was music and more places to sit. We will be back either way.. Parking on the street... It's downtown la Mesa, do not too crazy. But for a Friday night in a cute heel.. I'd bring a flat or Uber! Have fun! read more

Such a fun time at this winery! Me and my friends came to San Diego for Presidents' Day weekend and we were surprised it wasn't closed or packed. We did a $12 wine tasting deal were you choose 5 wines. My favorite was the passion fruit habanero one because it was different and so yummy! I had to buy a bottle to take home and they give you $5 off any bottle with the $12 deal. They have many selections from red, white, rosè, and even dessert wines! I tried the cask #2 Grenache sherry which was an almond and caramel wine and it had a very strong smell like cognac and I was scared to try it but the taste soooo good, its sweet, not too overpowering. I recommend this place even if you aren't an expert on wines, they don't care they are helpful. read more

This place has NONE of my winery pet peeves! You know what I mean-- Annoying/awkward server who hovers around you, attempting to make conversation, preventing you from gossiping about your coworkers and the latest episode of Jersey Shore. On the other hand, absent server who is nowhere to be found. You have to hail him over like a jaded taxidriver. He pours you a bit of wine, quickly tells you what it is, and then runs off again to tend to someone else. Limited selection and lack of ability to pick what you're tasting. I don't like riesling, dude, so don't make me spend my money tasting it. BAD WINE. Dude, nothing makes me sadder than making a puckered mouth and pouring out taste after taste. Making wine is hard work and I feel bad when it tastes like crap. THANK YOU, San Pasqual Winery, for being charming AND producing delicious wine! The gentleman who helped us was fantastic. He was friendly, told us about each wine and helped us choose which ones to try, and he was appropriately attentive. He even let us have an extra taste of a sherry they've got still brewing in the barrel; it was surreal, watching him pull some out for us using a turkey baster. It was damn good! I enjoyed each of the 6 tastes we had; nothing was bad, but I did prefer a few more than others. I particularly liked both passion fruit wines; one was straight up passion fruit, and the other one (which others have mentioned) has hibiscus, raspberry, and habanero (yes, you read that right!) in it. The latter is delicious, cold, and refreshing, but it has just a hint of spice on the finish. Only $15 for a bottle, so I brought one home with me :) I am so excited to have a fantastic, friendly tasting room so close to me. I don't have to be so sad about living far away from Napa or Sonoma now! I've got a great little place here that I'm looking forward to coming back to. read more

I cannot begin to say enough great things about the La Mesa location of the San Pasqual Winery. I reserved the back room for a birthday party on a Friday night and Brenda went above and beyond to keep up with us (my group of friends is not particularly good at arriving anywhere on time, we come in waves). For a completely reasonable fee, we got a personalized wine tasting, cheese and crackers, some really good wine and great stories about the wine. I'm usually skeptical of small storefront wineries like this - it seems the ambiance often overrides the quality of the wine. Not so here - the wine is actually really tasty. I think almost everyone in our group went home with at least one bottle. We went home with 4. A big thank you to Brenda for making my birthday something special! Definitely check San Pasqual out, you won't be disappointed. read more

I enjoyed a splendid afternoon of winetasting at San Pasqual after purchasing a Gropuon for this place. It is practically in my neighborhood, which would be particularly dangerous if it were open every day! My friends and I enjoyed all the wines we tried. I didn't taste this at the winery, but the habanero passionfruit wine is excellent, and I'm so glad I purchased it. I did try (and enjoy, and purchase) the passionfruit wine as well. I highly recommend dropping by this place, especially if you're in the PB/Clairemont/Bay Park/La Jolla area and want to try some delicious wine while skipping the drive to Temecula. read more

It's unbelievable to have such a fabulous winery tasting room in our own back yard. The wines are truly fabulous. Their red flight tasting is yummy and then top it off with a flute of Classy but Sassy. Let them know if you like sweeter or more dry for this mix. I go with the Habanero Passionfruit wine and the Toast of the Town Blanc de Blancs. I like dryer. My husband and I love this place. read more

We did not have real high hopes for this, but we were wrong. My sister had found an online coupon (groupon or the like) and we had planned a day of wine tasting. We though this place was in Escondido (San Pasqual valley) near other wineries so we could go to several places. Well it was not. It was a bit hard to find in Clairemont, but I have to tell you that is the end of my potential criticism. We were immediately greeted when we drove up. We were a little concerned that there were not other customers there, but it was nice to have the place to ourselves. The server (I think there is a more elegant name for him but can't spell it) was very attentive and explained the wines and the business very well. The wines were excellent and they weren't cheap about the servings (which is always nice). He explained the background of the winery. He did an exceptional job of describing the different wines, the types of grapes and talked to us about the owner. She is a speech therapist by day and a winery owner by night and weekend. With two of the four of us being teachers and with having a Son that is deaf we have alot in common and a true love of speech therapists. As dedicated as I am sure she is to her job, the winery is obviously a work of love for her as well. She (the owner) came in an mingled with us for awhile then had to get back to work checking on the status of her barrels. With her new tool belt in hand I saw her up on top of the barrels when I went back to use the restroom. Overall it was just too cool an experience! Rest assured several other couples came in while we were there. Tight space, but not to be discouraged. They make it work and with great GRACE. We loved this place! read more

I haven't actually made my way to the winery physically yet, but I went to The Reader's 1st annual ReaderFest where San Pasqual was present giving tastings. The wine is SOOOOO GOOOOOD. Passion Fruit Habenero...yeah, sounds weird but it will rock your world. I had a few of their other wines as well and I loved every single one. Can't wait to visit the location! read more

Alright guys, lets talk Rose and Passion Fruit Wine!! These two offerings from San Pasqual are my personal favorites. Their Rose is something I love to drink, especially on a hot day. The Passion Fruit Wine is killer and something so unique that I haven't had before. I love it by itself or as a splash with some bubbles too! I love all the tasting room locations. La Mesa is by my house and our local spot, but if we have guests in town we go to Seaport Village for the view. Love these guys! read more

This is for the tasting spot in Seaport Village: I was told they're relatively new there, only about two months, so I am not surprised there's no yelp page for them exclusively. My boyfriend and I spent our day trying to figure out what to do for his birthday, and we decided a trip to seaport village to walk around, people watch, window shop ....was in the works. First off: this spot is on the east wing of Seaport Village....it's not very crowded there and it's quiet, with quite a few shops to look in. We were about to head home when we saw the winery. $8 for 5 tastings plus $5 off any bottle. $15 for 5 bigger portioned tastings, plus $5 off any bottle, AND you get to keep the huge wine glass, as well. We went for the $8 deal, and it was still fantastic. The girls were so friendly and helpful. Oh.em.gee, try their Tawny Port. We ended up getting a bottle of white for my boyfriend, and the port for me. the location is nice, it's quiet, but there's a lovely little patio to sit out on, enjoy a glass of wine, and people watch. Finding this gem, was the icing on the cake for the day. Not to mention, they recommended we check out Venissimo cheese across the street....we did! So now we have enough wine and cheese to last us a week. We will definitely be back for another tasting and plan on bringing our friends with us.
