Traveling through the area and staying at the Holiday Inn with a need for Mexican Food. Yelp to the rescue! The building is a cute little place aside of the road. I was seated immediately upon arrival. Dos XX beer specials were a welcome omen ... for $1.75 how can you go wrong?????? The salsa has a little kick, always welcome for sure. Chips were fresh and warm. I ordered the Chicken Enchiladas with the red sauce. They were good ... perfectly cooked and spiced. The red sauce was thick compared to other restaurants, good with a nice flavor. They were served with rice which was soft, tasty, and fresh. My biggest mistake was to also order a side of rice and bean ... Too much food for sure! Here is a confession ... I ate it all, and a second beer. I need a nap and a treadmill in the morning! I would give this place 0 stars if possible. My friends and I went in an hour before close hoping for a drink and a meal. We got serious attitude from our waitress for wanting to order a drink. Our order was all wrong and ended up being over charged. The lady who rang us up tried to charge us each for a large cheese sauce when we only had one. She gasped when my friend only gave her a 15% tip (which was a generous tip considering the service and blatant attitude). Like most of the people reviewing, I was traveling through Lexington with a group of buddies. We all came from Colorado so not to be too biased, but we know some good Mexican food. This place has it. Great flavors, really friendly and quick staff, good rice and beans; everything you'd expect from a solid authentic spot. Only bad thing really was they were out of horchata at the time. I stopped in here during a business trip. I was pleasantly surprised how fully staffed the town of Lexington is with Mexican food considering its smack in the middle of Nebraska. And it was good! I had the Guadalajara Tacos plate and a side of guacamole. The guacamole was disappointing as it turned out to be the pre-manufactured out of the bag kind (tasted like it) but the tacos were good, other than the two pieces of gristle that I bit into. Imagine our surprise at finding some killer Mexican food in Nebraska when driving from California to Pennsylvania. It's a small family place, nothing fancy, which is how I knew when we walked in that the food would be fantastic. My husband had the Carne Asada plate with rice and beans which were all super tasty. The star of the meal, though, were definitely my Guadalajaran Street Tacos. I always judge a Mexican restaurant by how good their street tacos are. These were seriously amazing! The plate came with four loaded Asada and chorizo tacos with traditional onion and cilantro. They were killer. Seriously authentic food! We couldn't believe how affordable our bill was - $20 for that amazing meal, so we left a big tip. The Piña San Pedro was delicious. The oysters were terrible. But, overshadowing it all, was the horrible service by Maira. Another waitress brought us our food, which was the last visit to our table. Cruising through Nebraska... I mean, using cruise control while driving through Nebraska to try to stay within the speed limit. Side Note: Nebraska should have a 100 mph limit just so we fellow Coloradans could get home quicker. But, a little bit of sunshine near Lexington awaits the weary traveler. As I said, cruising along... "I'm hungry." "Me too, and no fast food anymore on this trip." We stop at a little "Authentic Mexican" Restaurant just north of I-80. Small place, brightly colored (That Yellow/Green/Orange Mexican trademark look). But, the salsa...served in a carafe with individual serving bowls so I could double dip guilt-free...it was sweet at first, then, pow! the heat came on. But the right amount of heat...we went through 2 bowls of chips (good, fresh, crisp) before the meal arrived. Side Note 2: The ice cold Dos Equis was a perfect complement to the food. I ordered the Machacado Mexicano (Spicy Mexican sausage and eggs served with rice and beans). I'm not sure if this was a really great lunch, or I was tired of a week of crazy fast food, but I would for sure stop here again...the next time I have to endure crossing Nebraska. read more

Two girls in their late 20's road tripping coast to coast. We walked to this restaurant from our hotel, which was very convenient. Upon walking in, we awkwardly stood while staff continuously walked by without acknowledging us. We finally asked to seat ourselves outside and in turn got a rude response. They had a 99 cent margaritas,so how could we pass this deal up? Let's just say we didn't know if we were drinking a margarita or antifreeze (no exaggeration when we say it was fluorescent green!). We've eaten at truly authentic Mexican restaurants, 4 in one week (don't judge), and this is definitely not one of them. This was by far the worst restaurant I've eaten at in years. When we walked in the place felt extremely cramped, so we ate outside. Flies everywhere. Uncleared tables with dirty dishes. Yuck. The service was okay- I could tell the waitress was super busy. The food is what really disgusted us. My husband described it as dog food. No taste and topped with some sort of cheese/bean crust. I have been eating at San Pedro's since the doors first opened. I enjoyed eating here so much for the first few years that I wrote a paper on the food for a hospitality class. Fast forward to the last year. The food has lost it's quality and consistency. The portions are smaller and the price's have increased. The once friendly staff has been replaced with staff who acts like they are doing you a favor by waiting on you. Not sure who is the manager.
