Splendid service. Had a pedicure today and loved it. I have pretty rough heels and by the time we were done they were silky-soft. The service was lengthy and pampery. Go late in the day and you will feel like the only human being in the world. And the lady is so nice I've had pie that was less sweet. The pedi also smelled delicious. I want to eat my feet. She also does eyelash extensions ($3 per fibre), permanent makeup ($?), and eyebrow threading ($20), as well as facials. Recommended by all means. read more

This is a great neighbourhood spa, right next to the Sushi Box, that has many services good to have if you, well, have the money to burn. I will say that San San's owner, and pretty much the only one that works there, Ange, is a doll. She's incredibly sweet, remember you always, ALWAYS has you in her thoughts regarding your comfort level, and is a very trained beautician. However. For such a small spa, I'd expect the prices being more reasonable. For example, facials are $100 (w/tip). Um, I'd rather then go to Aniu or Belleza if I'm gonna pay that amount. Then again, her facials are like 1.5 hours, she doesnt' rest until your face is as smooth as a baby's bottom. And I MEAN baby's bottom. The issue with this, of course, is that for the next 4 hours post facial, you keep touching your face, because, well.. IT IS as smooth as a baby's bottom. How many times did I repeat baby's bottom? A LOT. Let that be a reminder!!! I do recommend her, if only because she's SO attentive to you as a customer. She has no lot parking (DO NOT park behind her, that's Sushi Box, adn the one next to Susan Sez is well... Susan's parking lot... it BOGGLES me that with the lack of traffic they still instill the whole "DON'T PARK HERE" thing..). However, there's much parking on Kendall or Chamberlain.... read more

I'm not one to get my nails done very often and when I have, I usually find the experience mostly uncomfortable. That was not the case at San Sans, Sue made me feel very relaxed and at home. She is so sweet and complimentary - seriously, if you want to feel like the most beautiful woman in the world, just talk to Sue for a bit. :) I was only in for a pedicure so I can't speak to the rest of her services, but I was thrilled with the experience and pleased with the price. She took her time with me and did great work. The shop is a little difficult to find and it is also difficult to figure out where to park so make sure you check out a map before you go in. read more

This was my first trip to Madison, and after a crazy day of flying and driving, I woke up with a very tight neck and a lot of tension! Susan accommodated my schedule and stayed late for me, even though I've never been there and had only called this afternoon to make the appointment. I had a massage and pedicure. They were both fantastic!! The massage was amazing, she used aromatherapy to help my mind relax, and went to town on my sore neck and shoulders. She even massaged my stomach - which was terrific!! I fell asleep several times during the massage - something which usually never happens (and I've had many, many, many massages)! The lotions that she used made my skin feel super soft, and not oily like most massages. The pedicure was great, I work on my feet all night (10+ hour shifts), and I'm always in flip flops or barefoot, so my feet take a beating and are always dry and calloused. Now they are super smooth and soft. Susan was also very helpful with color suggestion and combination. =) I have glittery toes! Thanks Susan!! I wish I could take you back to California!! read more

I'm on a work trip in Madison from Pennsylvania. Thought I'd treat myself to a spa day since I'm here over the weekend. I definitely came to the right spa! Agnes gave me the best massage I have ever had and a beautiful pedicure/manicure. I complimented all of the paintings around the spa and it turns out she is the artist! So talented. No extractions during facial and a hard sell on products ruined treatment package. Massage and facial price was quoted included paperwork and payment. I expected the time for a facial and massage to not include paperwork. Not so relaxing and no reduction in blackheads or pore size. Bad eyebrow wax---they were uneven. Don't waste your time. 9/21/09 I've updated my rating and removed a star. After going to San San's about 15 times over 10 months, I have decided to look for another spa. There are two main problems, and they are recent. The first is that Agnes' two young children have been running around the spa, even into the treatment room, and making a lot of noise during my appointments. The other reason is that she has become an extremely hard seller. Ending an appointment had become so uncomfortable and pressured that I have taken to pre-paying and then slipping out the back door. Agnes is extremely talented and does amazing work, especially on eyelashes, but the experience of going there has become prohibitively unpleasant. ______________________________________________________ 11/14/08 At the recommendation of other yelpers, I visited San Sans for a facial, and I was very pleased that I listened. The interior is surprisingly nice and decorated well. The facial itself was excellent--Agnes really seemed to care about my skin. It was very relaxing and I left with nearly invisible pores. She is incredibly sweet and made sure that I was happy with everything. The atmosphere was comfortable and relaxing, and I was very happy with the results. Sue did a fantastic job! After travelling all day, I decided to spoil myself with a 30 minute massage and mani-pedi. I had the place to myself, and it was such a peaceful experience. My feet tend to be quite dry and calloused. Agnes worked extraordinarily hard to change my calloused feet and ragged cuticles to beautiful hands and feet. Spring break week and I had nothing fun to do but work, so I decided to check out San San's since it is right down the street. All I can say is FABULOUS!! I got a full set of acrylic nails the first time and then went back two weeks later for a fill and pedicure. Little did I know how amazing it would be. For only $45 I had the most amazing pedicure ever! Not only was the usual soak, nail trim/file, cuticles, etc done, but then i received an amazing exfoliation with some herb infused scrub, to get off all that rough skin. THEN, I got a foot and leg massage with warm oil. THEN, a massage with a hot stone and oil. Then more massaging, and after drying off, massage with lotion. My feet were SO smooth. And of course, closing with some great red polish, my feet have never looked so good! My nails are also great, they look so good everyone thinks they're my real nails. The owner is absolutely fabulous. Not only warm and caring, but so attentive to your needs and has great attention to detail. The spa itself is intimate and inviting and ever so relaxing. I would totally recommend this neighborhood spa to ANYONE who needs a little pampering! Can't wait to try the facials :) read more

I normally have my eyelash extensions done in southern California, where I live. They do a fantastic job. I came to Madison on person business and really needed my lashes done. I was nervous about going someplace other than my place in California. It was wonderful! Just as good as "back home," if not better. They look so natural: full and long without looking like false eyelashes. I recommend San Sans Day Spa 100%, at least for lash extensions, and I would definitely try other services there if I had time this trip! read more

Soo is wonderful!! Enjoyed my times with her. Great sense of humor...makes me smile!! She fixed a very a poor set of extensions I had done in Hawaii...no wonder they were cheap! I have happy feet today, thanks to Sue at San Sans. It was my second visit for a pedicure and the second pedicure of my life. I don't know what I liked more: my happy feet or my happy feeling from being pampered and letting my cares (and the rest of the world) disappear--at least for a little while. . There is something wonderfully relaxing about this place...the lilting music.. .the recorded bird songs...the soft colors... And there's Sue, the proprietor, whose calm and caring presence makes you feel you are in very good hands. You are. She is meticulous, skilled, fastidious, conscientious, and very sweet. My daughter and I had a great experience today with a facial and pedicure. We arrived a few minutes late, but they couldn't have been more gracious. The facials were pricey, but absolutely fabulous. I've been doing eyelash extensions for years. San San is definitely the best eyelash stylist that I've ever met. I moved to Madison months ago, and wanted to find a place for eyelash extensions. I tried several places, one of which even damaged my eye (not only the eyelash, but also eye ball... By glue...) The first time I came here was hoping for a fix. San San helped me to get rid of the bad extensions (hard, unnatural and uncomfortable), and replaced them with super natural, soft ones, as I asked. And they look so so so so real, and stunning at the same time. It's even better than any eyelashes I had before. In my opinion, good salons could give you a pair of real looking extensions, but only the very best ones could make them touches like real. And what I had here meets the latter. Now I've been with her for quite a time. I'll keep doing this for sure. read more

Exquisite facial, $150, less than I paid in France for comparable quality. Said I was looking for relaxation and happy skin, and got both. Very, very pleased. I've had nails done here as well, excellent work, but the facial was truly something special. Don't be put off by the storefront location--what's inside is a hidden gem. I don't find the lack of immediate parking spaces to be such a problem--there's almost always ample parking within a block. Highly recommend. You can find less expensive facials but nothing this good at this price. read more

One of my best haircuts! I have long, curly hair and I get frustrated with hairstylists who cut off too much length when I go in for a trim, but Soo did an awesome job. She really took her time and got off all my split ends (I usually find some after haircuts) without cutting off too much length. She really pays attention to what you want. I've been going to San San for about a year now to get my eyebrows threaded--she's one of the only places that does it in town. Her prices for the service are comparable to eyebrow waxing, and, in fact, are even cheaper than other places I've seen for threading. She is very thorough, and so sweet. I love how gentle threading is compared to waxing--don't get me wrong, it still stings--but now I don't get rashes or have to worry about someone using wax that is too hot! read more

I went for a pedicure today and I was very pleased with the service. I called Sue for an appointment and she was able to schedule it for less than an hour after my call. I had the salon to myself, free bottle of water, massage chair, beautiful paintings hanging up that Sue paints, and her 13-year-old son played beautiful concertos on the piano while I was getting my nails done.
