I'm about to go pick up the pupusas and pastelitos I ordered. This review is from all past orders I've had. Basically they're some of the best pupusas I've had in the area. Granted there's still one or two places I haven't tried but this place and Flor Blanca in Anaheim are the absolute best! They come HOT and they're thick. The cabbage mix (I forgot what that's called) and salsa are on point. I'm not the best at describing food but I'll say that the revuelta pupusas are very satisfying!!! Try this place FOR SURE if you're wondering. My suggestion is to call 25-35 minutes ahead of time because most of the time they are very busy. read more

Came in here earlier today these are probably the best pupusas you'll find in the oc but the thing that sucks is the service and the staff. The staff seem dead don't really greet you and the faces they have makes it seem like they hate it. Like I said the pupusas are good only thing good about this place. We bought extra cortido a pound there is a big sign that says 1 pound for 3.75 she charged us 6.75! We asked the lady the sign says 3.75 her response was that sign is 4 years old and her husband hasn't taken it down and as soon as she told us that she just walked away to the back and never came out. The food is good but the service makes you think twice in going. Just keep a look out on the prices and your order they've messed here and there. read more

My salvi friend took me here to try pupusas for the first time. I LOVED them!! We tried the mixed meat one and the cheese only and they give plenty of meat in them stuffed between two very fluffy pupusa bread! It was also very HOT but that was fine with me cuz it lets you know it's fresh off the grill :D the sauces here are delicious too. They're stingy on the veggies but if you ask for seconds they will give you more lol I also love the salvi horchata! It's not too sweet and more milky than the Mexican version. Second time here and the food is really good but the service both times has been terrible. I thought I could learn from my last mistake and avoid the long wait times by calling in my order on my second visit. I called it in and they said 25 minutes. I showed up exactly 25 minutes later and paid, the guy said 1 minute while they bag our food. They then took 25 minutes to get my food out to me. I would have left after 10 minutes but I had already paid. Might not come back. But the food is bomb so who knows. read more

Honestly, it's hard to find a good pupuseria in Orange County and this one is it! The revuelta pupusas de arroz are literally THE best! I love how these are crispy and just loaded with flavor. I would leave this place 0 stars if possible. The food is good no doubt in that but the service is horrible. I ordered my food over the phone for a pick up order and the woman said 20 mins. My boyfriend gets there and they make him wait over 15 mins. Each time he goes to ask for our order they just say In a minute and continue to ignore him. When he finally asks why it's taking so long and why they told me 20 mins... they laugh at him and tell them that they never said that and their wait time was 30-45 mins. So blame us right? I've also gone there several time with my parents and they act like you're bothering them when you ask for something. It sucks but this was one of the only authentic Salvadoran restaurants around here... but I'll gladly drive to Santa Ana or further! read more

Whenever we are craving some delicious pupusas we think of this place! This place is located in a small shopping plaza and the restaurant is not that big. We went for dinner on a Sunday night and the place was packed! The place was full and there were people waiting outside. We weren't sure if there was a waitlist to sign and I told the waitress that we would be waiting outside. We noticed another group that came right after us went right in and sat down, so we did the same. I ordered two pupusas because they are pretty filling and pretty big. I got their frijoles con queso and their chicharon con queso. They brought out the really spicy homemade hot sauce and curtido which is a cabbage, carrot and onion topping you put on top of you pupusas. We also ordered an horchata and a traditional Salvadorian drink which was pink and kind of tasted like a smoothie. The horchata tasted different but it was still good and the pink drink was also very good. Our pupusas were so good! The filling was very tasty and the actual pupusa itself was nice and soft and full of flavor. They tasted like they were just made. The whole time we were there people were always waiting outside even close to closing time. The service was kind of chaotic and we finally found out that they don't have a waitlist which makes it hard to figure out the order of people arriving. read more

Be patient. They take about 20-25 minutes to make. Show up 5 minutes later than they tell you and be prepared to possibly wait another 5 or so. I promise you it's worth it. Never again will we be visiting this place. We ordered 8 pupilas they told us it will be done in 20 min. 30 min later I came in to ask for my order. The lady kept saying ohh in a minute. 10 minutes later and 3 people that ordered after me got their food. I once again asked for my food she said in a minute. The lady quickly went to the back laughed and said "ahh se me olvidaron los plátanos de la muchacha" yes I speak Spanish!!! Great vegetarian pupusas for a very affordable price. When I went it was $3.20 per pupusa. I tried the queso, the queso con loroco (a green herb), and the queso con calabaza (squash). I liked the queso con loroco best, but all three were great, especially with the sauce and pickled cabbage mix. I also ended up taking some of it to go and it tasted just as good a few days later after a few minutes in the toaster oven. read more

I got here around 2:30 on a Tuesday. Wasn't sure if I wanted an entree and was trying to decide, but when she said "breakfast all day", that settled it. Got the Desanyuno San Sivar. This is scrambled eggs with Salvadoran sausage (a chorizo), red beans, rice, and a choice of cheese or sour cream (more like a creme fraiche). The meal came with a thick tortilla (almost a pupusa) to help corner the small bites. I enjoyed it. DSS is in an unassuming strip mall just North of 19th Street on Harbor Blvd. The waitress was friendly and helpful. I may come back just for the pupusas. They have a real good selection. The chicken is served separately, skin crispy and very tasty. I'm not a huge fan of pupusas, but these are the best I've had to date and they're pretty large so don't over order. I also tried the mojarra frita here but didn't like it. Stick with the chicken soup -- that's all I can say. The salsa roja is great here as is the complimentary coleslaw-like dish they give you.
