You take a right on the feeder and a left into their gate parking. The outside can be slightly discouraging, though the space is absolutely incredible. The food was amazing, the servers were attentive, kind and respectful. They have two areas, one for inside dining and one for outside. My SO and I opted for inside as it was raining heavily. In most corners of the place, there's windows. As you can imagine, with the nature of the scenery, the rain made this place more magical. The food was great and afterwards, we went outside. The entire space is beautifully put together and is overall very grounding. Keep this place alive, visit and tip well! There are a number of things that come to mind when looking at San Vuon: it is enormous, feels out of place, and feels incredibly random down from the decor to the menu. This is precisely why I love it. Places like this can only exist in major Viet diasporas like Houston (#1) where a space has been transformed into a place that operates like a sports bar, a lounge, a family destination, and a Vietnamese pub menu that all at the same time. This phenomenon deserves its own category and name (#2) but is more common than one might think. As noted earlier, this place is enormous. It might not look like much from the outside, but the place is sprawling with a copious amount of chairs and tables of various sizes, along with an outdoor area that really add to the overall feel of the place. There is a large bar with a several bartenders, TVs and projection screens with sports and music, and bathrooms that reek of desperation. (#3) The food skews heavily Viet but I was somewhat surprised at how legit the pho and banh mi was, at least for a bar. They also have a number of plates for mi xao (stir fried rice noodles), com (rice plates), lau (hot pot), sinh to (smoothies), and dedicated sections for chim cut (quail) and de (goat). I was also taken aback by the prices, where banh mi is $5 and pho is $11 (except the $13 dac biet) and coffee is $4.99. Booze was also in the same realm as cocktails and beers varied between $3-9. Nothing about the food that I was able to sample was destination worthy, but I'm not mad at it. Affordable variety goes a long way. If there was any real drag, it's the inconsistent service. The staff can be a little too lax at times, where they're slow to bring things out and somewhat inattentive. Viet is the preferred language naturally and parking is either on the street or in the lot directly across the street. A good time can be had here, which I would suggest for a large group. There are heaps of local families that are coming in for a feast and always a small number of Viet uncles going hard on the Heineken while watching sports on TV. This has to be THE BEST Ca Phe Sua Da I've ever had. Imagine if Dalgona coffee and standard Vietnamese Coffee had a child, it would be this! I also ordered their Pho Tai (Beef), and it was also pretty good and I unfortunately was too hungry to get a photo... Coffee aside, I really liked how homey the decorations outside felt. This restaurant is located right next to the freeway. It looks like a house and parking is across the street. I heard this place was good so I finally gave them a try. Our waitress recommended the salad and the rice noodles. Since it's my first time here I went Ishtar the lotus salad. When it came out, the flavors were good. The only complaint I had was that celery in the salad was dry AF. It's white on the inside and very chewy. When I was eating it, I kept having. To spit it out bc it tasted like I was eating someone's hair. The flavors were right on point. The pho was good too but the brisket was not soft like the other pho stores. They have a pond outside either koi fish and even a few hammocks. It would prob be nice to use in the winter time but it's too hot to be outside with if there was shade. If they used fresh ingredients, this would be a good contender for best restaurant in the SE area. Unfortunately even if the flavor was right, the quality of ingredients didn't measure up IMO. read more

This had killer ratings and I happened to be on the other side of town, so when hunger struck I had to check it out. The food was excellent. Forgot to take photos of the vermicelli bowl and the Bahn Mi photos, but remembered for the shrimp. Everything was delicious. We did go at an off hour (4:45 pm), but the service was definitely lacking. Would I go again? Without a doubt if I'm on that side of town. Really great Vietnamese food here! Probably one of the best authentic Viet restaurants in South Houston if you don't want to drive all the way to Chinatown. - Exterior looks super run down & honestly kind of sus lol. Don't be fooled; the interior is cozy and nicely decorated. It's right off the highway & at a very convenient location. There's an adjacent parking lot so plenty of room for parking. - Highlights would probably be the chicken hu tieu (noodle soup), bo tai chanh (beef with lime), bo la lot, and combination pan fried noodles. I would order all of this again. We also ordered the seafood combo hot pot which was also good but a steep price tag. It does comfortably serve 2-3 people though if you're craving hot pot. - I ordered Ca phe sua da (Vietnamese iced coffee) which was very, very sweet and almost tasted like it had a lot of vanilla creamer/sweetener in it which I wasn't a fan of. I wish they kept more of a rich, bold coffee flavor true to what an actual ca phe sua da would be. Prices are a bit higher but I'm willing to pay this for good enough Vietnamese food without driving another hour to get to Bellaire. $125 for a lunch for 4 people with hot pot leftovers to take home. The service was amazing they were really friendly , the environment was really chill and if they had live music performances this place could have great potential! But I sorry to say this and I love pho, but to save you time and money if you only come to eat pho this is not your place to go it's flavorless and even thou they put every single meat that a pho contains it was really disappointing! Doesn't look like much when you drive by and the parking is across the street and behind a used car lot. But the food is authentic and the interior is traditional and a little bit funky. We enjoyed their take on a bun and also some crispy egg noodles. Both were delightful. Their menu includes favorites better suited for someone more adventurous with sea snails and other unique proteins. To start off we order the fish sauce wings. Ate two wings and the sauce was very good. The third wing my sister ate and noticed there was blood coming from the chicken. Okay, okay!!! Guys, I literally ran to my car for this review. Today...was self date day!! It all started with the nail shop, then I was hungry..... as a result, I came here. There is the most beautiful serine patio with two levels. There are fountains and flowers and even a cage with little baby bunnies! I sat outside, duh. Pork egg rolls that I ate so fast I didn't get a picture. Ordered goat with chili and coconut sauce. It comes with this beautiful soft golden bread for dipping.
