Great hole in the wall establishment for Vietnamese food in the southeast side of town. - Cold cut banh mi (4/5): solid filling with all the garnishes. They used day-old baguette which is perfect for Vietnamese sandwiches. Would have been better if it was heated before coming out. - Banh xeo (3/5): 2 small ones which are 5.95ea, so $11.9 for both. They're only sold in a pair. Both are filled with only bean sprouts and small shrimp, no pork belly or mung bean. The shell was a little too thick and there wasn't enough fillings to justify the price. Though they came with a big plate of veggies to pair with, which was nice. - Hu tieu mi hoanh thanh (4/5): egg noodles and rice noodles combo with wonton. I think their wontons are made in-house because the size/shape are much different from the standard grocery ones. Portion is huge for the price (and with 7 wontons!) - Pho dac biet (3.5/5): combination pho was a little lack luster flavor wise, but portion was generous for a small. What once was a 2-star restaurant, but now in my humble opinion is RIGHT NOW a 4-star restaurant. Now to be fair, this place isn't perfect. To-go orders, in my experience, can be quite lacking. Though they wear the title that suggests this place is a simple, humble store that specializes in hu tieu and mi (egg noodles), this place is through-and-through a very, VERY authentic Vietnamese restaurant. As someone who has traveled to Vietnam (VN) as a summer home in the past, I can tell you that hu tieu is a very popular dish to eat in the mornings and for lunch (*ahem* way more popular than pho--trust me). If you've been to NYC, you've seen starbucks at every single corner--it's not different from places that are slinging noodles around Ho Chi Minh city. So I've been back to this place more than a few times and I'm so glad I kept giving this place a chance throughout the years. It used to reek the same smell as the tofu aisle of an Asian grocery store, but I found their food to be quite good for the price... of course, in the beginning, I wanted to eat what they were supposedly best known for, so I got the hu tieu. It's been quite a while since I've had a bowl, but it definitely took me back to memories of VN. And though it does look similar to Pho, they definitely are made with totally different ingredients--one would be unfair to compare the two, but considering how widely popular pho is in the states, it just makes sense to use it as a reference point. Pho is made from beef or chicken, hu tieu is made from pork. Both soups are clarified and have a rather clear broth whereas ramen can be rather rich and cloudy. Some people would say hu tieu in general is "bland," but I whole-heartedly disagree. They've since moved to a new location--still on Scardsale Blvd but just a little closer to i45. read more

Decent Vietnamese food for a reasonable price! We are regulars here and come to get their Hu Tiu Kho for lunch when we are craving it. Their sugarcane drink is a favorite and they always serve it in a large to go cup which is nice. We've never had to wait to be seated because there's plenty of seating, and the service has always been quick with no issues. Plenty of parking but it's located in the corner of a shopping center so it's easy to miss. read more

The food is decent considering it's in the south East. We're so limited on good Vietnamese food. I always make the drive. Let me just say it's a traditional Vietnamese restaurant. They have a lot on the menu. The old man who owns the place is eh. They got my order wrong. I tell him, and he was smiling trying to be nice to me but refused to take it back. My mom is a huge fan of this place and I was certainly doubtful due to the strange/confusing name and hidden location. For those who may not know, in Vietnamese it means flat noodle, noodle S45. I think a better restaurant name would be more like Nonstop Noodles, ha. Anyway, the food was utterly delicious. There were endless varieties to select from and can suit any picky eater. I recommend the #H11 toss fried rice noodle - Hu Tieu, #810 Vietnamese salad chicken (kind of like chicken slaw ), and the salt & pepper whole steamed chicken. Excellent ! All homemade from scratch, Hu Tiu Mi is the house speciality. But I had the Mi Viet Tiem on recommendation of the owner as it's also a house specialty and not as easily found in others. Wonderful tender duck with real duck broth, bok choy, egg noodle , some slightly sweet and sour pickled fruits and onion garnishes. Spectacular!! Originally I was skeptical of this place when my brother introduce me to this place. As a family we go out to eat after church and I always enjoy my Pho or Bun Bo Hue. However this place has made our round of place to eat after church. I had several items at this place and its a hidden little gem. I recommend the either the H.11 Toss Fried Combination Rice Noodle ( Hu Tiu Ap Chao Thap Cam) and all the water version of Hu Tiu. Nothing fancy but the taste is right on. I love how they make the H.11, not many place can do it right and I have eaten all over Houston. If you are into party tray, they also have a good selection and the food is good. Should definitely give it a try and enjoy the food. I see a lot of hot pot request when I am there but just can stray from my Toss Fried Combination Rice Noodle. read more

I am surprised they are only a 3 star place. This was my first time here but my cousin raved about it before. When we walked in we were greeted and seated right away. The combination of meats in my dry clear noodles my cousin suggested was tasty. There was this light brown sauce to be poured over the noodles. The soup broth was served on the side in a small bowl. I ordered a large bowl and it was a decent amount. Sometimes places give very scarce serving of food in a soup but give more broth to make it look plentiful. I really enjoyed my warm thit nuong spring rolls & the peanut sauce was tasty and had a good consistency of thickness. Some places the noodles and rice paper are cold, I like my thit nuong spring rolls to be served warm. I will be back to this place if I am ever down South again. Excellent local vietnamese mom n' pop restaurant. Featuring the not easy-to-find "hu tieu" of south vietnam. Much harder to find than pho or even bun bo hue - SE Houston is lucky to have this spot so people don't have to drive all the way to Bellaire. Lot of other dishes to choose from too. Fresh ingredients and cooked to order. More authentic flavor; e.g. the nuoc cham is more umami/funky than your typical sweet. Ownership and staff are super friendly. This is our go to spot for lunch/dinner! Been dining here since 2016 when my lil sister introduced it to me and I must claim they're always on point. The management and staff are so friendly and their food is consistent. I've tried many of their dishes here and must say that each plate is fresh and flavorful. They also have lunch specials and the portions are generous. This is the special combination crushed rice platter. Comes with chargrilled pork chop, egg cake, shredded pork, and fried egg with fresh cucumbers, tomatoes and lettuce. Their fish sauce is just right. The beef stew meats are very tender but was missing a hint of sweet tomato. Last picture is our all time favorite seafood noodle bowl that come in two different types of noodles, with soup or soup in the side. Great food. Like homemade Vietnamese momas cooking. A lot of traditional homeland food. My family and I came in at 8:40 pm and they close at 9 pm and still was happy to serve us, not like some other restaurants where they would stop serving before closing. They were very patient and kind and attentive too. We loved it ! Great customer service too! The only reason I give it a 4 stars is because it could be cleaner. The tables were a bit sticky. I would consider myself a regular here and this is the place me and my boyfriend would consider first if we ever want Vietnamese food in the area. If this was based on customer service, this place gets a 2: I ALWAYS get the sugarcane drink/juice here every time I dine in; I don't recall ever buying any other drinks here. I also sometimes walk in JUST to order the sugarcane drink to go. They have a punch card that offers buy 5 get 1 free for their sugarcane drinks. They use a generic hole puncher to punch the card. I have so many cards - like I said, I come here so often - because I sometimes forget to redeem them. Today, I redeem one card for the FIRST time after dining in. The lady (short ~30 y/o lady with glasses and I think a mole on her face) checking me out look at my card and says, "This hole looks weird. It doesn't look like how I'd punch it." She looked annoyed that I even pulled out the card to redeem my free drink. I looked at my boyfriend like wtf?? and proceed to ignore the lady. She proceeds to go on about how this isn't how she'd punch the card. I told her I SWEAR I didn't do anything to the card. After I told her that, she STILL continues to go on.. making it seem like I was trying to scam her. I left the establishment super pissed. I am not a confrontational person but you do not blame someone for something you don't even know if they did. Heck, if you were displeased about me redeeming the card, why even offer it? There are other people who work there and take my order when I come to order the drinks to go. You're not the only one who punches my card. Why they don't have customized stamps or hole punchers, beats me. Like I am debating if I even want to return to this restaurant just because I felt so belittled by that lady. read more

Restaurant is clean. Their Canh chua and ca kho tho is really good. Their wonton soup and their flat noodle dishes are not that great. Customer service is a hit or miss. Some days they are wonderful some days they are not. Sometimes when we order something, they bring something different out and try to persuade us to keep the dish. Best place to get salted shrimp and salted squid! Squid is tender, large pieces and flavorful, not like those chewy pieces of rubber that you get from other places. I don't know why this place doesn't have more reviews. There's not a lot of places down southeast that serve family style cuisines. This place is one and I'm happy to have found that. They need to post more about it so that people are more aware. They not only have have Hu Tieu, Mi, and Pho, but also have the traditional Vietnamese style items. I called in a to go order 30 minutes before I got there. When I came the order was not anywhere to be found. They were very unorganized and had no idea who picked up the phone. It wasn't even busy as there was only 2 other customer in the restaurant. I had to re-order and ended up with another type of meat since they claim I would be waiting too long for the first type of meat/rice combination. They were not apologetic and very unprofessional. Lastly, the owner was cutting her nail cuticles at the front counter while I was waiting for my to go order to be ready. Highly unsanitary. I never really had an bad experience here until today. The inside is beautiful with friendly staff members, who are always very polite. I come here regularly as its located near my college. I don't really understand why this restaurant doesn't get more positive reviews. I went here a few weeks ago and enjoyed my dry chicken noodles very much (Mi Ga Kho). You can choose between their two sizes: regular ($6.95) or large ($8.45). My bowl had golden egg noodles with roasted slices of dark & white chicken meat. The chicken was moist but it was saltier compared to other restaurants that I've been to. It came with a small bowl of broth which surprisingly hit the spot. The two other people that I came here with ordered the Mi Thap Cam (soup version, comes with pork and seafood). My boyfriend ordered the Com Tam Thit Nuong Dac Biet (steamed crushed rice with grilled pork, egg cake, shredded pork, and a sunny side up egg) which costed $8.95. The meat was non-fatty and has an explosion of authentic Vietnamese flavors. The menu also consisted of vermicelli entrees, hot pots, small appetizers, and white rice noodles (dry/soup). My favorite place. I used to eat here everyday because it's so yummy! I still eat here pretty often and it's always the same taste! It never changes and that's why I love this place! The broth is soooo good and so is the clear noodles! The customer service is amazing! Hai is a waiter there and he remembers my order so well that he corrects me when I forget!
