ADA accessibility is great! It's not the intention, but since they only let one group in at a time, it really is very low stress for wheelchair users. You don't have to worry about a big line of people waiting while you navigate the houses. It really allows all people to enjoy the scare! This year for Sanctum seems to not be a good one. We've been here multiple times over the years and last night was not a good night for them. Maybe because it's their last weekend but for 2 fast passes at $45 a pop... I was annoyed and let down the we're letting groups of people into the mazes way too quickly. There was a giant group right behind ours and right in front. Little to no time for a jump scare. The people managing the lines don't seem to care at all. In the breach where it's dark someone turned on their light phone and basically ruined it for everyone and none of the scare actors told her anything about turning it off?! SWEET DREAM OR A BEAUTIFUL NIGHTMARE This place is set up on the West side of parking lot of Superstition Mall. There are 2 Haunted Houses available; SANCTUM OF HORROR and THE BREACH. I would say they are equal in length and terror. It took about 40 minutes total for 4 of us to go through both mazes including the time to wait in lines with the Fast Pass on a Sunday evening. Albeit, going through it took us longer because a couple people in our group were too frightened and moved slowly and even stalled in the middle of the mazes before gathering themselves to continue on. Having been to most of the haunted houses in the valley multiple times over the years, I think this one is currently the best for Fright Factor. The reasons are this: 1. Group Spacing- The staff are trained to send you through one group at a time with enough distance between the previous group so you do not overlap them or their screams don't spoil actors' surprises. You wait outside the house before it is your turn to enter. Then you wait in a staging room while you are on deck to enter the door to the maze. 2. Sound proofing- The house is enclosed and there are heavy curtains between rooms of the maze to keep sound ahead muffled and prevent giving away the jump-scares. And the enclosed space keeps it nice and quiet from outside noise to keep it more creepy. 3. Actors- The actors scream and talk very loud and give a good effort to be creepy and have a spiel as you walk by. Their costumes and make up are pretty good. At times there are multiple actors surrounding you. 4. Props and Special Effects- The props are pretty detailed realistic and not just random stuff thrown together. There some strobes and fog machines along the way that make the path hard to see, but the low visibility actually makes it a more eerie. 5. Chicken Doors- there are multiple exits along the path that allow people to leave the maze if they are overcome with fear FINAL THOUGHTS: I like that the structure of these houses are not wide open spaces or exposed to the outside park like other venues because those type of haunted houses have all that excess noise from other parts of the park and/or the maze that takes away from the experience. The path in the houses are easy to follow for the most part. The actors do not touch you. There were no sound effects. There should be sound effects or creepy soundtrack playing in sections of the haunted houses or even outside in the park area to create a vibe. There are not any hydraulic or animated props and statues in these houses, but you would not need them if there were plenty of actors. That said, I wish there were more actors that would engage you with more jump scares. I also wish there were more actors and activities going on outside the houses within the park. There were only a few actors walking around interacting. It would be nice if there were some games or photo-ops to make it a more immersive experience. There wasn't much for outside decor so the views were kind of dull. There were only a few merchant booths and food vendors lining the perimeter of the fence enclosure. I believe there are Porta-Johns on premise. Let's be honest, if you are not the type to scare easily then you will not be scared, so do not expect to be scared. I was only mildly spooked a couple times. If you are one of those people who get scared easily then this will be a terrifying good time. read more

Honestly this had me shaking in my freaking boots!! Got my tickets super quick, the waiting line for the Breach was like a 20 minute wait not bad at all, and I'd say waiting in line is part of the horror Lolol because you get so anxious and nervous hearing all the screams from the inside after going through it, I was genuinely shook! My hands were shaking and my heart was racing! Definitely a fun thriller maze 10/10 would recommend. Waited for an hour and a half in line for the special Blackout Event. I'm not sure if the regular Sanctum of Horror haunted house is very different but for the Blackout event I was disappointed. We got to the front of the line and the worker explained the event and the rules of the haunted house etc. and she told us the average time to complete the haunted house was 35 minutes. My brother and I were finished in under 10 minutes. There were hardly any props or decorations on the walls to immerse us in the experience. Bed sheets and tarps were hanging for partitions in certain parts. The actors were very good however so I had a good time while I was inside. However in retrospect, given the price of $24 for a ticket I was hoping for more than about 7 minutes inside the haunted house. read more

Definitely better than the majority of their rivals. My date had a lot of fun. You enter the haunted house one group at a time so the experience is more personalized. Some of the characters actually engage you in a conversation inside the haunted houses, which is cool. They have 2 there you can get into for the same ticket price. read more

Been here years ago and it was good. This year it totally sucked. Six of us in a group and not one of us got scared. Actors talk smack to you if you don't go along with their agenda. They were busy so they were rushing people through leaving no time between groups and because of this my wife got grabbed on her chest by the people behind us in one of the dark spots. Got the fast pass and still had to wait for quite awhile. 40 bucks a person but should have been 10. Between my wife getting groped and the horrible actors this was a horrible experience. I've yet to find that genuinely scary haunted attraction in AZ that makes me quiver thinking retrospectively about it. Sanctum doesn't quite cut it, but it is definitely better than the one that I went to last year, though. For $20 it wasn't a bad 45 minutes, not my fave haunted house, but still in search of the best haunted attraction in AZ. While I applaud their efforts in makeup artistry, actors, and set design, it just was ok. As my friend who went with me said, "it's a temporary attraction in a mall lot." One of the houses was scarier than the other, but the attraction was not long enough... I think it only took 15 minutes to complete. The other, while longer, wasn't quite as scary, just more odd than anything and not much of a story. Anymore I base my haunted reviews on the amount of screams and cursing I do. I am not a fan at all of Haunted Houses! We arranged for our daughter and her soccer team to attend the haunted house for a team bonding night. I first want to address the staff here and owner Shari, who I arranged everything with, they were AMAZING, super friendly, and checked in on our group of 33 multiple times to make sure our experience was great! The girls were scared and loved the two houses. The characters walking around were scary and good at tormenting you! I highly recommend Sanctum of Horror. Very nice employees and super fun for my daughter. Not scary for my husband and I, typical to most hunted houses they depend heavily on noise and strobe lights for scares. I consider myself a Haunted House enthusiast. I try to go to as many as possible each year in multiple states where I can. I will say, this place impresses me! There are a few reviews from previous years - this is a haunt that evolves over time. I went last year as well, and I noticed a lot of huge improvements. I would highly encourage a revisit! I love the themes of these haunts. I also love that they can stay in-theme while still hitting the majority of people's 'fears.' Have gone to Sanctum two years in a row - definitely my favorite haunted house in the area. Attention to detail with their makeup, props, special effects, etc. is fantastic. It was great last year, and they've improved quite a few things that made it even better this year. Went on a Saturday and there was a line, and they had some actors milling around outside which was great - they got the group behind us in line a couple times with their creepy costumes, jump scares, etc. Made time fly and made the wait a lot of fun. read more

Went with my two sons (16 and 9). Almost all of the actors focused their attention on scaring my younger son. Even when he was crying and hiding behind me they would go around to scare him, at times surrounding us so he couldn't hide even though there were other adults in the group that they were basically ignoring. And yes, they were actively trying to terrify him, which was not fun at all. He made me promise to take him to the Crypt next so that he could forget about tonight. The second attraction, The Breach, is very short and is basically half-empty rooms with actors lying around saying "I don't want to die". The only thing scary about this place is the price to get in. Most of the actors were just screaming in your face while banging on the walls at the same time. Sanctum of Horror is set up in the sears car park at Superstition Springs Mall (look for the stadium lights). It opens at 19:00 hours and is open until 23:00 hours. Ticket prices are a very reasonable $15. The Haunt itself is, and this is high praise coming from me; worth the price of admission. Fans of horror movies will spot some references as they go through. Everyone else will be either spooked or find it quite creepy. They advise, and I agree, it's best to go through in groups of 2-3 and no more. One side note, this is a no-touch (unless you touch the performer) attraction. In case you missed it earlier, I'll repeat that it's worth the price of admission. read more
