We showed up 20 minutes before the movie, scanned our tickets and went to our seats. Nothing showed up! Waited til the movie started and still nothing. Went out and found an employee to ask about this. She said she would check on it, so I went back into the theater. Wait 10 minutes and got up to check on this again. Found same employee and she said they were working on it. When it finally arrived they dropped off our order, but no napkins. Love the idea of this service, but the execution is not great. I will just go to concessions in the future.

I am enjoying the resurgence of arcade bars here in the Valley. Since moving to Mesa, I have been making stops here at Level One Arcade Bar. I love the chill vibe and their selection of classic arcade games. Games use tokens or quarters that you can get from the token machine. Level One Arcade Bar is a two-story venue and has a wide array of pinball machines and arcade games. They opened in 2019 in Downtown Mesa and have a Valley Metro light rail stop nearby. Each floor features its own bar with each of them having around 30 beers on tap. The second level has majority of the pinball machines. You will find me playing classics like 1943, Galaga, Mortal Combat, Tekken 3, Area 51, Mario Bros and Street Fighter. I am also a big pinball junkie. They have darts here at Level One and we have had fun playing them when I have come here with groups of friends. Check out the speakeasy behind the building if you want to hang out in a cool 20s vibe atmosphere with a cocktail. It is called Alchemy 48. Under 21 is permitted with a parent or guardian until 7pm and must by supervised. Happy Hour is 3pm - 7pm Monday to Friday.

I also made sure that this was the fast version Ms Pac Man as there is a regular version Ms Pac Man and I don't like that one. I scoped out the machine first before deciding to get a beer. The place was pretty empty when I came in and I was able to play two games of Ms Pac Man and enjoy my beer at the same time. They also put little side tables by the arcade, so you have a place to set down your drink as you play. Lots of old school video games here including Tetris and Dr Mario! The experience was visually interesting. I have neck problems so it was hard for me to hold the device up too long but I also enjoyed just laying down on the floor and looking about. I didn't realize the experience was a virtual reality as it looks like a walk through on the website so that was a bit disappointing but that could be because I didn't fully read the descriptions. We came and the girl at the front was so nice. Talked about how the paintings were inspired by the owners kid. Whatever, what a weird comment, right? Then they give you 3D glasses, and let me tell you YOU REALLY WANT THOSE GLASSES. Of course, the first hole my 6yo starts a royal tantrum. Once again, the girl at the desk gives both my kids glow bracelets. It doesn't calm my daughter down, but it helps. My kids are fussy the whole time, but I was having a ball. The paintings and colorings on everything with the glasses literally make you feel like you are hallucinating. In some cases I felt like I was hovering or something and didn't know where to put my feet at. Absolute riot. Course was decent. Not overtly hard - good for my 6yo and 8yo. There was one hole about 2/3 of the way through that was basically impossible. Got a military discount too. After we finished the girl at the counter asked if we wanted some free tokens for the arcade. I don't know if that is standard or she just felt bad for me and having my kids go nuclear multiple times while there. In either case, a super nice gesture but I had to decline because I just needed to get them outta there.
