The inside bar is pretty large with plenty of seating all over the place and the bar is pretty large. We ordered some cocktails and eventually ended up outside with the sand between our toes playing corn hole and taking silly pictures with our heads sticking out in a large silly characters board. Came in for a game & stopped to eat before the game. What a cool place! We ordered the pretzels as a snack. Went to the game & came back. They were the only place open late at night. We had their late night menu of loaded baked potato or loaded hot dog. The staff was welcoming and quick both times of day. Great experience overall. read more

Great for little kids to play in with buckets shovels, cornhole, etc. Very casual so come as you are after boating with no worries. We just ordered beers and some food, Cheeseburgers and fries, fried pickles. Food was average at best but we left happy and full as we weren't going with expectations of a standout meal, just something basic after a half day on the lake. Service was friendly. Some people sitting at the bar, possibly local adults, were giving the stink eye to groups showing up with younger kids in tow but nothing was done or said to anyone so, fine, stink eye all you want. read more

No server - you have to order yourself at the bar. And when you close your tab, your tip options are 25%, 35% and 50%. I believe that this is my first 2 star review since I've been on Yelp. Here's the deal: food is average, location is fantastic. The sand is a great aesthetic touch, and I'm sure it's a great place to drink some beers and play corn hole on a nice night. The bad: they charge like 3.5% to use a credit card. I believe that is illegal, but maybe not in Georgia. That's bush league. Also, you have to order food at the bar, and then a server brings your food to your table. The server never came back to ask if we needed anything. If you want to order more drinks, you have to go to the bar. My question is this. Why are you asking ppl to guilt tip to the tune of 25% (as the first recommended tip amount after paying). I understand the pandemic has affected things... but having ppl pay close to 30% on top of not low food prices is robbery. read more

We stopped in here after a day of boating on Lake Chatuge. It was a nice day so we sat outside on the picnic benches. The process here is you go and order from the bar and then someone brings the food to your table. The food and drinks were good but the service was uninspired. There was a band playing live music which was a nice touch. The overall experience was average, nothing more, nothing less. If you're looking for a solid place to get food and have a drink or two this place will do the trick. We will probably keep this place in our rotation of places to go, but will be more likely to go for a few drinks and the live music rather than the food. read more

The sand Bar is a pretty cool place for drinks! The vibe is a Florida vibe and the views aren't so bad! They allow dogs in until 6PM which is when the band shows up. I get that rule!! Then they said the kitchen was backed up so it would be at least 30 minutes before they could even take our order. 2 of us stopped in for lunch before visiting the GREAT classic car museum on the hill behind the Sand Bar. Ordered Fish and Chips and were asked if we wanted fish and chips or something else. I didn't hear the whole conversation but the final decision was yes we wanted fish and chips. Fish was OK for obviously food service frozen. Curly fries were a bit under cooked. Terrible service. Decided to try again after they double charged my credit card years ago. Arrived and sat at a table. Waited 15 minutes. Told the gentleman that appeared to be in charge that a good business model was to at least greet your guests. He replied that you had to order at the bar and asked if I had read the sign on the way in. In fact, yes I had read the sign. "Order food at the bar". I pointed this out and his reply was there's only so many of us. I guess this place stays in business because small town folks gotta drink somewhere. Rude and unprofessional. Will not ever be back. The Sand Bar is an awesome place to chill and enjoy your favorite beverage! Bartenders were friendly, attentive, and fun. We enjoyed a live band the night we were there that started rocking the house at 7pm! They served typical pub grub out of their on sight food trailer. We ate wings, fried cheese and French fries. This is my new favorite bar. I live 2 hours away and will drive from Atlanta just to come back to this bar. The music is good, the drinks and strong, the bathroom is actually clean (when I got back I told my boyfriend "I'm not leaving, we live here now"), and the staff are effing amazing. They're like watching a well oiled machine that likes to work hard. In about 2 minutes 4 different bartenders asked if we needed anything, they were slammed btw. Everyone was in good spirits and helping each other. None of the servers stressed or arguing. 10 out of 10 I will be back! read more

Visited the Sand Bar on the 4th for their big party and had a blast!!! The place was very busy with multiple cornhole sets and a great band! The bartenders were fast and very friendly. They set off fireworks across the lake, which I was told it was the owner of the Sand Bar just for the party, they were nice and big! They had someone making BBQ that looked great but I didn't partake. It is definitely a fun place with a cool atmosphere and beautiful view. They have their own frozen punch that was REALLY sweet so if that's your think I recommend. Would be happy to visit again when I am back in Georgia. read more

SO DISAPPOINTED!! We have passed by this place for years and finally got a chance to stop in for a bite. Unfortunately, it took forever to get our food (and the place wasn't busy) When it finally came we realized that the food truck that makes the food should be driven off a cliff and the cook fired! The fries were so thin and so overcooked we couldn't eat them. I mean of the FOUR of us, NO ONE ate more than one fry each before commenting how they were so overcooked they were unable to eat them. The fish was over fried so much that the fried batter Crust had to be removed in order to actually EAT the fish inside! The onion rings were so over fried that the inside of my mouth is sore from crunching them(but, I had to eat SOMETHING!) THEN to top it off, we explained all this to the manager and instead of apologizing and offering something in exchange (for such a horrible experience) he said, Well there are other options!" In other words, "You could have eaten elsewhere!" The manager needs to be fired as well as he apparently doesn't know much about dealing with customers or what the term "Customer Service" means!! Total waste of good money and a great view and atmosphere! Spend all that money on a meal for four and have to leave most of it in the baskets because it is inedible! read more

Im all for small businesses, but the owner of this place is incredibly rude to the houses near by. The music is insanely loud and can be heard clear across the lake to the point of keeping people up at night. Being outside isn't an option on Friday or Saturday nights. Music must be miserably loud at the establishment. He has been confronted by members of his community about this but hasn't done anything- guess his own profit is more important than what those in his community would like. Making the locals mad doesn't seem like a good long term business model to me.. read more
