Came here with my kid and it was a rough experience, started out, smooth with being seated in the server taking my order, but quickly declined. My child wouldn't touch their food so I tried a bite - immediately had to rinse my mouth out. Something is off with the oil or ingredients they're using. They did take it off the bill but we sat there forever waiting for someone to even come check on us. My sticky ribs were sauce wise but really fatty and cheap quality. The biggest issue arose when I went to pay my $19.04 bill, the "20% tip" on the machine came out to $5.61. I pointed it out to the server right there and he acted confused and played dumb, which was frustrating. The custom tip button wasn't even working so I couldn't fix it myself, and with my kid losing it I just had to pay and go. It wasn't until I did the math in the car that I realized just how off it really was -- that's almost 29.5%, not 20%. This left me with a really yucky feeling. We had lunch on a Sunday, which was very busy. After waiting for an hour and half for 2 people we got the chance to have a late lunch. We had the sticky ribs, which were very delicious. I had the chicken sandwich which was good and my husband had the prime rib sandwich, which was good. The max and cheese was ok and the risotto was ok. Over the food was good. The service was great. My friends and I came here on a whim because it was open later, and we loved it! We started with the wing and rib combo and the mozzarella sticks, both of which I highly recommend! Everything was so good. The mozzarella sticks were so soft and crisp and the marinara was so fresh and kind of sweet! And we tore up the wings and ribs. For mains, my group got the salmon, ribeye, shrimp & grits, and prime rib sandwich. We loved everything, especially the ribeye and the truffle fries. The only complaint we had was that the shrimp & grits had a bit too much gravy, and it kind of drowned out the grits. The flavor was definitely there though. The prime rib sandwich was really great with the jus and was big enough to split with my friend. The service was excellent! Our food came out really quickly and well, and we noticed that they had brought us an extra tray to split the sandwich and hand towels for the wings, which was really thoughtful. They were so quick whenever we asked for extra utensils or condiments. Our server Adriana was really sweet and charming which really added to our experience! Hubby and I were in the area, exploring the Blue Ridge mountains, and Chester's was by far our favorite spot to eat. We went there on our first night in town and went back again for lunch the next day. On both visits, service was good and the food was excellent. The buffalo wings were my favorite. We had that as an appetizer on our first visit and I loved them so much, I went back the next day just to get those as my main. The blue cheese is homemade and delicious. I also tried the grilled cheese, which was really good as well. On our second visit, we had the sticky ribs as our starter and it was finger-licking good. We went with the daily special dessert, which was a pina colada cheesecake. I was skeptical at first but it did have a really good flavor and we ended up enjoying it. If we are ever in the area again, we will for sure be returning. I wish they had one of these closer to home because it would definitely be added to our regular rotation list. The ribs were perfectly seasoned with the perfect amount of sauce and were super tasty and delicious. The Mac n cheese was a yummy cheesy treat, but the Brussels Sprouts were unevenly cut and cooked unevenly and ranged from too hard to too soft. This is a must if you're in the area! This town has plenty of restaurants but this one really stood out. It was busy and had a lively atmosphere when we went, but the food and service were still great. I went with the mesquite grilled burger, which was everything you could want in a burger, but I also did sample the sticky ribs. And wow! The honey soy sauce was unforgettable. We came here after enjoying a nice ride on the Blue Ridge scenic railway. We did not have to wait at all so we got lucky as we arrived around 5:15/5:30. The Cobb salad was brimming with blue cheese, the side salad was fresh and delicious, along with the perfectly light and fresh house made ranch dressing. Amazing experience with my wife this week for an early dinner wile visiting on vacation. We were worried that we were going to be those annoying patrons sitting down 2 mins after opening at 4 PM but we were not alone and there is a good reason for that. The service at the bar was great, cannot complain. Our dude was super friendly and hit us with the specials of the day which all sounded amazing. I opted for the pimento cheese chicken sandwich blackened by his recommendation which was 5 stars. Their fries are good enough to just order on their own. I was really craving a fried chicken sandwich but glad I listened. Great whiskey and draft selection for sure. Their black coffee is jet fuel and delicious. Highly recommended after your meal with some of that raw cane sugar. Food was good, at least what arrived. Appetizer never showed up, and my wife's food arrived 15 minutes before mine, with no explanation. No one even bothered to check in or give any reason why half of our food was missing. Oh well, glad my wife enjoyed her dinner while I watched. Being 'short staffed' in the kitchen was the excuse. Understandable to an extent, but what isn't is the total lack of remorse or any explanation from the beginning. Let's start with wait list. We joined and it said we had 15-20 min. Once we arrived, it said we had 5 min. The hostess was pleasant but said it might be longer. After 10 min and the link saying it was zero minutes I went in to ask. A waitress was nearby so she came up to me with a deep sigh and no eye contact. I asked (there were four open and clear tables) and she pointed to one that needed clearing and said it would be 10-15 more minutes. It takes 2 min to clear a table. Finally we were seated (and not at that table but at one of the ones that was already empty and cleared). Our waiter anrriced annd didn't really greet us. He seemed impatient and irritated we didn't immediately know what we wanted. When he came back over, we gave our appetizer order first, which apparently he fired before we finished ordering. We changed our mind but he wouldn't allow us to change the order. He was literally standing right there and it was less than a minute from when we said the app. He highly recommended the mac and cheese, which was clearly from a box with absolutely no seasoning. It was gross! The Brussel sprouts were boiled TO DEATH. this is the reason an entire generation of people hate Brussel sprouts. Then when I asked about them, the waiter said they were pan sautéed. Um no. They were boiled for 10 hours and then thrown in a pan with a pound of oil for two seconds and then soggy bacon was put on top. Also not a seasoning in sight. He did not offer to take them back or bring us something else. The wings were dry rubbed but with what spice I'm not sure. Supposedly buffalo. They tasted like someone blew some buffalo sauce in the air nearby and a few of the wings caught a sprinkle. We asked for additional ranch bc they were so dry and flavorless and told it was an up charge. The fries were ok but not a lot. No condiments were offered. No water refilled. No asking about how everything tasted. The cheese sticks were good. The ribs were very good. Oh and the tip options were 20,25, and 30%. I am someone who is a generous tipper as is my husband. My husband didn't want to offend but I would have tipped 10% for that trash service and food. That man did not earn his hourly wage with us. Much less a tip. We will never come here again and will tell everyone we know about this terrible experience. I am truly shocked. I considered calling but was too angry to talk rationally with someone. Let me begin by saying, I've tried to address an ongoing issue directly with the management team, however the issue has yet been resolved. It's not a significant amount but it's the principle of it. As for the food, I have really no complaints. My issue is with my server double dipping on the tip. Upon finishing our meal, I asked for our check. I handed over cash personally to the server. I zero out the tip section so the balance remain the same. A few days later while reconciling my cc, I noticed the amount was not the same. It appears, the server had manually added the same amount that I gave him in cash to the CC transaction. WTH. I spoke to the manager which assured me it was impossible but offered to issue a credit. I waited a few days to let it take its course. No credit had hit my cc so I called again. Spoke to the same manager, who assure me that she had indeed processed it and didn't know why it had not come through. I felt like I was getting the runaround so I asked for her manager to call me. As of today I haven't heard back so I will be disputing it directly with my cc company. It might have been a honest mistake but wanted to let other customers to know. read more
