Booked this dive shop via RC for the Certified Scuba Dive excursion. The staff were all friendly and professional, the dive masters were very knowledgeable; an interesting fact, the water here has higher salinity which makes you more buoyant which in turn requires more weight to compensate, the aim is to be neutrally buoyant so you can hover. Normally I need ~20lbs, they calculated what I actually needed and they nailed it first time, no need for adjustment. For this trip, we were taken out and did a drift dive of two different reefs, both were incredible sights to see, and our guide showed us cool things along the way. We did the snuba experience as a family of 4. We have different body types and experience levels and everyone enjoyed it! Everyone on the staff was informative and friendly but Alfredo and Didi were our guides and they were AMAZING!! We saw lots of fish and even some crustaceans and an octopus! They told us to come at 9 for our dive that we planned a few days prior. We waited for 1.5 hours for "other divers who were running late". Eventually we gave up and left and had to ask for a refund. With loads of other divers shops around town, I would recommend going somewhere else. read more

Rueben is a fantastic dive guide! Our small group was mixed levels of experience and he helped everyone who wanted to see more, and others who just wanted to get their buoyancy right for the drift dive. Rueben pointed out a ton of stuff that i floated right past without noticing. He made our dive ten times better by spotting eels and lobsters for us the whole time. The boat crew took care of everything so we just showed up, and had two great dives, relaxing and fun! I think our boat was Roman Holiday. Thank you guys! Highly recommend! Cozumel is a divers paradise. I stumbled upon this divers gem while in a cruise back in December. I signed up for a discover scuba excursion, because even though I have dived a few times prior; I was still not certified. Diving can be dangerous and it was important to me to feel comfortable. My instructor was Memo. He was attentive and detailed making me feel beyond comfortable. I decided to return to complete my open water certification. So happy I did! He made me feel so comfortable that I had trouble wanting to go. The entire staff is incredible. You can enjoy an amazing massage while hearing the sound of the waves. Al pastor tacos and quesadillas are too die for and please enjoy a margarita on the rocks as a celebratory night cap! There's lounge chairs to tan and plenty of areas to relax in the shade. Thank you all at sanddollarsports and sunset for making me feel at home! So happy I chose to fly back to her certified by the very best! 10/10 read more

We had been tipped off by friends that this place was a short 15 minute walk north of the main cruise ship piers and a good spot to snorkel without going on another excursion. The folks here were friendly and welcoming even though all we "purchased" from them was a locker rental - only $2 for a roomy locker. If you needed to rent snorkel gear you could but we had our own equipment. We stowed our stuff and then waded out to snorkel. The snorkeling was ok, not great, but it was sure convenient and cheap. They do have some artificial reefs but the number of fish were few. It looked like a good place to learn how to scuba dive... and the bar/ restaurant next door was a fine place to relax afterward. read more

My family went to do Snuba this morning, and we had an amazing time. Dede was very patient with us as the majority of us had no clue what we were doing. He kept checking in to make sure we were ok during the entire time we were under water. *SNUBA* My boyfriend and I had the BEST time doing this excursion! We booked it through Carnival cruise line for $70/person and it was worth every single penny! Once off the boat they transport you by taxi to Sand Dollar Sports (only takes like 5 minutes). Once there you go through a VERY short training class (10 minutes) with an instructor where they teach you a couple hand signals and tell you about the equipment. Then you go outside and rent a locker to hold your belongings (bring $2). They suit you up and then it's to the water! They have easily assessable stairs down into the water. There your instructor does another 10 minute training session where they teach you to breathe and to make sure you have enough weight in your belt so that you sink easily and that your face mask doesn't leak. Then you are off!! We saw so many beautiful fish, a lobster and stingrays! They take pictures of you before and during the dive that are available to purchase, $15 each or 2 for $25. One thing I was worried about was equalizing my ears when going down deeper, but I had no problems at all. When you feel pressure you just pop your ears like on an airplane. Easy. We had one girl who was having problems staying down and she ended up staying at the surface with our boat and snorkeled from above. She still had a good time. Also if you get the chance to work with DEDE DO IT! He was so great and professional! He made the whole excursion! At the end of the dive they have discounted offers for you to dive again or to try full on beginners scuba diving! Finally, don't skip out on the little restaurant/bar they have after the excursion. It's AMAZING! I got a strawberry margarita and it was epic! And my boyfriend got a chicken burrito and he said it was the best he's ever had in his life! Fair prices and great staff. We went a lot of places and did a lot of things on our cruise, this easily was the best thing we did all vacation!! read more

While working on a cruise ship, we docked in Cozumel weekly. A bunch of us onboard ended up using Sand Dollar Sports to get our PADI Open Water certification. The staff is just so wonderful here. All of the dive instructors are patient and helpful. We did most of our certification with Ernesto, who was a 5 star instructor. However, we also worked with Andrea and Pablo and they were superb as well. It's great because you don't have to load up on a boat to head out for your lesson- you simply suit up and walk right into the sea from their backyard. The gradual slope of the bottom of the sea makes for an easy descent when you're learning how to breathe and equalize. Danirel (the manager), is very friendly. He gave us his e-mail address so we could let him know when we would be off the ship each week for our next lesson (since it varied week to week). They were accommodating to our schedule which was great. I was very nervous about the dives, and everyone here made me feel at ease. It was a huge accomplishment to receive this certification and I'm so glad I did! There's also a beachfront restaurant next door that is a great place to grab a celebratory beverage after your dives! read more

What an awesome experience the 12 Metre Regatta was! I am an experienced sailor and former competitor. Sailing on a 12 metre craft was one of few items left on my bucket list. My kids helped scratch it off the list by gifting me this experience on my 70th birthday. As I Canadian I was keen to sail True North, Ian and his team made this possible. Our Skipper was amazing and he and the crew coached the participants in their role in a fun, compassionate and effective manner. Due to having no scuba diving experience, I was a little nervous (but more excited) about the excursion I booked here through the cruise line I was traveling with. Our instructor, Nemo, gave us the rundown of do's and don'ts, we geared up and walked into the water. He was very thorough and made sure everyone was comfortable before descending underwater. There were hand signals that were used frequently throughout the dive to let him know we were OK. There was also an assistant instructor who trailed behind the group to keep watch. Maximum depth was 28ft and they only allow you to be in the water for 30 minutes, however, it's just enough if it's your first time. There are lockers available for $2 to hold any valuables. If you buy the pictures from them, it's 1 for $15 or 2 for $25. read more

My best friend and I took our daughters on this excursion. We could not have been more pleased. This was our first experience with snuba and it has inspired us to get certified for scuba diving. The instruction was very thorough and completely put us at ease. Our guide, Ivan, was so friendly, patient, informative, and just a complete professional all the way around. We would do this again in a heartbeat!! Beautiful, peaceful, reasonably priced, and had a nice little place to get some food and drinks afterwards. Not comfortable with Dive Plan or Dive Master - floating alone on the surface. I chose to go on a 2-tank Cozumel dive excursion with Sand Dollar Sports. (I did not know the dive company at the time). After the first dive I was not comfortable with way the dive instructor conducted the first dive and opted out of the second dive. During the initial pre-dive plan the dive instructor (I do know his name) told us to give him the "ok" signal if we were above 1,000 psi and to give him the low air signal when we were at 700 psi. He made it very clear he did not want us communicating our actual psi air levels using hand signals - "too confusing." I found this very unusual and especially that he did not want to know if a diver was at half tank. I was the first at 700 psi . He sent the diver signal tube to the surface and told me to ascend and take my three-minute safety stop. We DID NOT ascend together - as I had always done - nor did he instruct my buddy to ascend with me. I went to the surface alone while the rest of my group continued their dive 40 to 45 feet below. I have never surfaced without my dive team nor without my dive buddy. The current was swift, so I had to keep up with the group, still 40 feet below, while swimming alone on the surface; keeping them in sight with my head in the water. Be prepared to wear a weight belt. The flippers do not have straps (old school). My first two tanks had failed O-rings. And by the way... no cookies. I would NOT recommend this dive shop to anyone. Go somewhere else. read more

We came here during spring break to get our two teenage boys certified and for both parents to do refresher course. We were so pleased with the instructors and their professionalism. Not sure if they are the cheapest or most expensive in Cozumel, but I would pay it again. I was very comfortable with my boys going out for open water certification dives with them. We came to Sand Dollar Sports on Thanksgiving Day 2018 for a snuba excursion booked through Norwegian Cruise Line. The taxi drive was 5-10 minutes long and once you arrive you have the option of purchasing a locker to lock up your valuables while you're out in the ocean. Afterwards, we did a short demonstration and safety lesson on how to breathe underwater and the hand signals. We were then suited up with fins, a mask, weight belt, and regulator. We got into the ocean in the shallow part to test out the regulator that was attached to a floating rig that had the oxygen tank on it. We were allowed to go down to 30 feet and we stayed in the ocean for around 30 minutes. My husband saw lots of beautiful fish and coral. I had a hard time learning how to breathe through the respirator, as this was my 3rd time doing any type of snorkel activity and I'm still learning. Blas, our instructor saw that I wasn't getting the hang of it and he took off my weight belt and told me to snorkel at the top of the ocean instead of going down further. I felt much more comfortable at the top and less intimated/overwhelmed with trying to get the breathing down right while being several feet below the ocean's surface. Blas was so patient with me and made sure I was okay doing the hand signals. Even though I didn't get to dive down as deep as the other guests on the excursion, I still enjoyed myself and had a great time learning how to snuba. Kudos and compliments to Blas!! When you're done with the snuba, stick around for a beer or a bite to eat at the restaurant while you wait for your taxi to pick you up :) read more

Wife and I did excursion there while on cruise aboard Carnival Dream February 8. It was an awesome experience. I had done SNUBA about 10 years ago and was looking forward to it. My wife was very nervous since she has just started snorkeling a few years ago and NEVER tried to go below surface because of her fears. Our guide Antonio was excellent helping her and others in our small group (only 4) understand the equipment and practicing in the shallows before going out deeper. She was able to submerge and stay down for the entire time and be completely at ease doing so. Their location was great diving from beach. They had lockers ($3), outside showers, bathroom/change facilities, also a bar/restaurant. They told us we could stay and relax as long as we liked and they would get a taxi for us back to cruise port. We could not have been more impressed with their helpfulness and service. Hats off to our guide Antonio, our tour rep and host Ivan, and our classroom instructor Blas (I hope I got that spelling correct). All worked together to make this the highlight of our trip and our most memorable water experience as a couple. KUDOS!! read more

This is an awesome snorkeling tour. Izzy is the man. It was a 2 hour tour for snorkeling, but you can stay all day. It is a beach with restroom and resturant. They have happy hour. Transportation was provide from the cruise ship to the beach, snorkel equipment provided. We are going to go back when we fly in for a vacation. Best deal! read more

My 12 yr old son & I (59) booked this excursion thru Carnival for New Years eve. Neither one of us had done anything like it before. After a short boat ride we came upon our dive site. At first I thought I was going to be disappointed in how small our dive area was. BUT once Antionio our guide had given us a small, short class, and got my weight belt adjusted we were off. I got a little anxious during the first few minutes & Antonio just gave me hand signals to calm down. Everything went great after that. Plenty of fish, angel fish, small sting rays, & schools that I really couldn't tell you what kind of fish they were. IT was amazing, totally worth it. The food was great too! Stopped in Cozumel ad a Port of Call during our cruise the past week. We chose the beginners scuba excursions just to try something new. The cab from the port took us to Sand Dollar Sports about a half a mine from the pier. We we greeted by our instruction and jumped right into our lesson as we were the only two in the group. After our class room time the staff fitted us with our gear and we walked into the ocean to get familiar with the gear and to go over what we learned in class. Then we moved into the deeper water and started going down. It was fantastic. we dove to around 24 feet for 25 minutes and then time was up. This was our beginners certification and if want to get certified this dive counts towards it. We were offered a second five for $45 pp so we did. This time we went a little different route out from the beach and to our deepest part was 32 ft. I am hooked and will get certified asap. The staff is fantastic and if you eat to give diving a try do it here. read more
