I'll keep this review short - that JW was an honestly good old-school Marriott, of which there are…read moreso few left. If I could, I would give them 6 stars. The hotel was wonderful and super-clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, the executive suite was specious and very well equipped. Is it as fancy as some of the best Ritz-Carlton's... maybe not quite, but I had more fun and felt better. They really have class and maintain that perfect balance of quality service that doesn't feel pretentious and uptight. Almost forgot - the executive lounge - it has been a long time since I have been to an old-school proper lounge. It is the way it should be - good food, awesome service, multiple events per day and all around what I remember from good old days. If you are in London and you need a good hotel in a nice neighborhood - absolutely stay there!!!

To go back a bit, last year we attempted to check into the JW Marriott Grosvenor House London…read morearound 6:30pm. Although I'd noted our check in time on our reservation, a room wasn't ready. Since we'd had a long flight and had nowhere to go they held our bags for us while we went to get food. We returned about an hour later, with still with no text about our room. Having no other space to eat we brought our food into the lounge to wait for our room and started eating, only to be interrupted and snidely told no outside food. We replied that we had nowhere else to eat since our room (more than an hour and a half later) still wasn't ready so the lounge attendant went and retrieved our keys, stating they'd been trying to reach us (not true but fine) and we went up to the room. Now this room, if wasn't the worst room in the whole hotel I would be shocked. It was down a really small corridor and as soon as we opened the door it reeked of cigarettes. It was about half the size of our room the year before and the air quality was terrible So we go back down to the front desk and I ask if we could get another cleaner room, thinking because they made us wait they were likely fully booked, but surprisingly they switched us immediately to a different room which, funny enough was already ready and had the fantastic A/C unit air quality and size we expected from last year. Funny how that happened. Fast forward to this year. I was honestly on the fence about staying again and almost posted the review above last year, but I preemptively reached out to our Ambassador to mention the issues we had and to confirm again, that our room needs to be far away from the elevators and to get 24 hour, so our room would absolutely be ready when we got there. Well they got it half right. The room (one of the worst in the house again) was ready at check in but was right next to a service elevator. We'd had a very difficult flight and problematic Uber ride, so the room being an issue again for the third year in row was really a not great cherry on top. We went downstairs to ask to switch but they tell us nothing else is available. So we go back up to the room to wait (after noticing our new keys won't work in the lounge yet again this year), except the elevators are giving me the most awful headache. So I finally call our Ambassador and get them involved and they tell me they'll call them. We head downstairs and the Ambassador team calls me back to tell me the room will be ready in 10 minutes. Fantastic. So I walk up to confirm this with the front desk and they have no idea what I'm talking about. We go back and forth and I let them know we're flying to France in the morning and leaving at 3am (it's 6:30pm by this point) so if they have no room we can go elsewhere. Somehow, shockingly they find something. Again, funny how that happened. So we get the keys re-made and go upstairs to see the room. It's still not a great room, but it's not near any elevators so we call it good. But once again, our lounge access doesn't work, so we have to go down again to get them re-made. However once we finally get access - the lounge attendant hassles us (yet again) - this time for grabbing a bottled sparkling water because apparently they changed the rules since last year and nothing can be removed from the lounge. That first year we stayed you could grab waters from the lounge to bring to your room, but sure fine, inflation. Mention it at check in and post a sign in the lounge. The next evening we get back after having had maybe 14 hours of sleep in 3 days and guess what doesn't work again - our key. They hadn't warned us the merged stay would break the key. So back down we go to get it re-keyed, only to next day excitingly discover yet again the lounge access on the new keys doesn't work. So again, we have to get new keys. While the first year was quite nice, the last two years have been the worst check in processes we've ever had while traveling. The lounge attendants are rude and the customer service experience is terrible. At the end of the day we gave them a second chance and it ended up being worse than the time before so we won't be staying with them again.

I like the room, it had a great view of London and the river nearby. The bed was comfortable and I really like the water pressure in the shower. The room also have the standard US power plug here. I visit the Clipper Bar that is here to get a soda and also the Market Brasserie which is where they serve breakfast. I like that this hotel has a special route to go to the O2 arena which was where I was working. The only issue I had here was trying to get ice. There no ice machine in the hotel and I went to ask the worker at the check in desk. They said someone from room service will bring it up to me.

This property is just a few steps from the O2, a ginormous Arena with shops, activity centers and restaurants and is within walking distance in a town called Greenwich where you will find pubs, a small market and tons of amazing parks to just relax and chill. This is also where the famous GMT clock is located (in Greenwich Park), just be prepared to make the hike, where you will find some awesome views! In any event I'm here to rate the amazing service we receive here. We didn't have access to a fridge and didn't have phone service in the room, but we didn't mind as other amenities and service in the room sort of canceled all of the negatives. It was humid this time of year in June and we walked a lot. The shower water pressure is so powerful here nothing else matters to me at this point. They offer 2 restaurants. Hubby and I shared a lunch meal at the Meridian restaurant. The service was on point and the food was a delight. We also had dinner at the Market Brasserie in the second floor after a few days of drooling on their grilled squid and it certainly didn't disappoint! Later, we spent time at their upscale bar the Clipper, sipped some custom cocktail and wine while enjoying the beautiful views this property has to offer. Hubby and I logged some serious steps this trip but didn't miss a day of circuit training (weights + Machines) first thing in the AM in their fully equipped and spacious gym. Unfortunately, we were not able to use the spa service. Finally, I want to give praise to the amazing staff here - from concierge, front desk, restaurant staff and Attila, the Night Manager who was more than accommodating, especially at the end of our trip when I thought I lost my iPhone (was a major heart attack moment for me!) and made sure we had an epic stay for our first trip to London.

This feel is continued when you walk into the airy reception with a warm crackling fireplace and people having traditional afternoon tea (which looked scrummy) on the comfy sofas. Of course, the famous Christmas tree was there and it was huge and magnificent The wedding ceremony took place in a private room overlooking the grounds, which was lovely However, it was the wedding dinner, which confirmed their 5 star status in my book. The staff were all brilliant, seamlessly serving the food and drink and making my friend's wedding really flow smoothly. Top notch and with smiles to boot There's also a top kitchen, which served some top quality food, which was impressive for self catering. The lamb shank main course was presented with the large bone in and the bones had had all been cleaned perfectly. The mashed potato had been piped - these little touches elevated the food to special status The hotel were also generous in giving my friend a larger room for the evening reception for free because they had capacity. Classy. I was most impressed indeed and I hope more of my friends will get married here!

Notwithstanding that connection, however, I would hae absoultely no hesitation recommending the Oak Room Restaurant for a dinner a deux or family celebration. Situated in the 4* Woodlands Park Hotel the Oak Room Restaurant offers fine dining in traditional yet unpretentious surroundings. The dark oak pannelling that gives the restaurant its name creates a wonderful feeling that is both intimate and yet relaxed at the same time. Large leaded windows allow wonderful views of the grounds and let in a gentle light that literally makes the room glow. The menu varies according to when you visit although it's based losely around a modern European theme with leanings towards British-ness! The signature Chateau Briande is amazing and is testament to the traditional slant of the restaurant but then dishes such as Honey and Sea Salt Honey Glazed Duck Supreme Butternut Squash and Cinnamon Risotto add an adventurous suprise. Presentation of the food is always immaculate and portion sizes are good for an establishment of this type. Don't expect huge platefuls but neither will you be disappointed by tiny nouvelle cuisine-style portions. Staff are attentive and discrete and will ensure that you have an excellent evening. Their knowledge of the menu is always very good. Personally I've found the sommelier's recommendations to be a little on the pricy side and not always according to my preferences, however this is a minor niggle. I've never been served a duff bottle of wine! Dining a la carte will see a bill of around £50 per head. There are only around 30 tables here (well-spaced) and so it is advisable to book for traditionally popular periods (Easter, Christmas, Valentines etc). Many restaurants could learn from this excellent offering.

Elevators: chronically had long lines and were overly full so many (especially on middle floors) had to wait as full elevators from lower floors passed them by. I am a collector of Conrad and Waldorf plush toys and knew that Monty the bulldog was a dream plush to collect! I reached out to guest services prior to my visit and they held one aside for me. Unfortunately, they only had one, so my guest was unable to go home with his very own. * CHECK IN * I arrived to the property around 1 PM and knew that early check-in might not be possible. Still, I figured I would at least try to see if it was ready and if there were any complimentary upgrades. They unfortunately did not have any prior to my arrival nor by the time I checked in, but they were able to let me into the executive lounge while I waited for my room. The bell desk also took my baggage during this time. * KING DELUXE ROOM * The room itself is quite nice, though a bit subtle in color. It features a king size bed with a view of the underground (I was in room 518), separate bath and shower, and branded robes but plain slippers. I believe there were 2 glasses of complimentary waters as well. I believe they also provided me with a touch of chocolates as I let them know it was my birthday and by the time I checked in to the room, they had also brought my luggage in. * EXECUTIVE LOUNGE * Truly one of the better lounges I've been to, but no surprise for a Conrad hotel. The breakfast spread had scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, and an assortment of fruits, granola, and pastries (like pain au chocolat, mini croissants) for you to choose from. They also have a small selection of cold and hot drinks that are in glass bottles like still and sparkling water, sodas, and beer/wine for the afternoon service. The coffee and tea machine has a decent selection as well and you can brew a teapot on your own. The afternoon service includes light refreshments. I enjoyed the smoked salmon and cocktails, and overall it was a decent light snack. One of the best features of the executive lounge is that they have 2 separate toilets with a walk-in shower. It really helped to be able to shower right after landing, because my room wasn't ready yet and I was able to explore the town quickly. * OVERALL * Overall, I had a short but rather enjoyable stay. I felt that for the experience I had, it definitely warranted 4 stars but could have been improved by the customer service. Though I felt that they made efforts to accommodate me as early as possible, the housekeeping was rushed and the bath amenities had no product in them, and it was a bit disappointing that Monty was just left on the nightstand covered in plastic with a box of chocolates that I had no idea was for anything celebratory as there was no handwritten note. I understand that this is a bit nitpicky, but felt that the overall tone of customer service could have been improved. However, despite all things, I still had a lovely time and hope to return in the future and am still appreciative of their collective efforts. (22/50--2025)
