    Squid Game VR
    Julie Y.

Absolutely incredible experience!! We came early on Christmas morning and were the only people there. The worker there was AMAZING (I apologize - I forgot your name but I know it started with a T). Thank you so much!! We played Amber Sky and Squid Game. Amber Sky is a classic shooting game where you have to defend against a swarm of aliens. For a scaredy cat like me, it resulted in a lot of screaming Our camera glitched during our game, so we were offered the chance to play another game. We chose Squid Game, which was SO much fun and perfect for people with a competitive spirit. We were drenched in sweat and had plenty of belly laughs throughout. It's also incredible that we automatically get video footage of us during the game! I've watched our footage and laughed several times already. We will definitely be telling our friends about this and will be back for another date night!

I had a dream about monsters last night because of this place and their zombie game. I LOVE IT! I can't wait to come back. I did one of these Sandbox places before the pandemic in San Francisco and saw the potential. But it's got even better since the vests you wear to get the Taptic feedback on your body have shrunk down so much technologically. I'm not a big video game player either. I even took someone else who hasn't played a video game since PS2 was the latest and greatest. But we all really loved our time here. Price seemed reasonable and was a fun experience. My complaints that knock this down a star is that it's super confusing for newcomers. Even the lobby is confusing on how you get to this place. And then when you arrive you really need to interrupt someone working there to get any help and guidance as to how to sign in and what's next. Seems like they need a greeter at a front desk and just haven't staffed that yet. But once you get passed the intro details you'll have a blast no matter who you are. I also don't love how you can reserve a spot for 3 people but the app will mention that you might get up to 3 strangers with your team unless you upgrade to private. We came at what is probably an off hour (3pm) on a Friday and decided to risk not paying double for the private game and managed to keep our team private. So plan that ahead. But it would be nice of the reservation app maybe took that into account: "here are our off hours, private games half off or guaranteed or something".

The F.D.O. (first day opening) was 6/30. It's $55/ person. It's an RSVP for 40 minutes and 25 minutes game time. Don't show up after 5 min. then you have to reschedule.

Very skeptical about doing this with a few friends. Ryan our Sandbox VR host, made our first experience easy smooth and unforgettable. My friends an I paid for two sessions and didn't regret it for a minute.

This is the rude person/manager I was referring to.

This review is for The Gallery of Terror Halloween walk thru only and not for any of the VR…read moreexperiences (These seem very cool) Anyways this is possibly the worst haunted attraction walk thru ever created by man...Or maybe worst walk thru attraction in general. Remember the Willy Wonka scam event in Glasgow, Scotland that went viral? (if not, look it up). Well now we have a smaller scale version of this here in Chicago. Story and art was obviously created using AI and black garbage bags for walls and 4 actors who are doing thier best to keep a straight face while performing...it's so terribly bad that it's almost good...Unfortunately paying 30 bucks a person for 2 people is pure insanity...But it does come with a liquor drink and you will need it after you are exiting 5 minutes after walking in...lol This is worth about 5 bucks a head at best and it still would seem awful. The sad part is the idea of a haunted gallery where you stare at paintings that come to life is a good one but unfortunately none if this happens here. The only horror to be had here is spending too much money on this turkey. And yes they had the nerve to have an exit thru a gift shop aka a closet with some dollar store merchandise This is so bad that it really does need to be seen to be believed...Maybe show up and ask can you walk thru for a few dollars...Its so worth it for a few bucks and you will never forget it. Note to owners: Please make this the first and last year this is ever done...I wouldn't wish this experience on my worst enemies for 30 bucks a person. I've been to DIY home haunt walk thru's for free that were next level amazing in comparison.

She's a tall seven year old, and she headed straight for the virtual reality pods, where her mom and the proprietor agreed she could buckle in for a virtual visit with Santa, an underwater adventure, a visit with dinosaurs, and a ride on a roller coaster, swaying and bumping along. She was thrilled. We were delighted! The gallery is full of objects you might want to buy -- we didn't -- and escape rooms for adventure -- we haven't tried them -- but I can't recommend the place highly enough for friendliness, cleanliness, reasonable prices, and good, safe fun.

When they say they open at 1:00, they open at 1:00 sharp. We arrived a little early and found the doors locked. We went to another business across the parking lot to kill 1/2 hour before we could get in. The first thing you do when you walk in is watch a brief video explaining what you will experience and how to use the VR headsets. Then, you must sign a waiver of liability before you are allowed to continue. Essentially, you waive any liability of injuries caused by falling, vertigo, epileptic seizures due to strobes, etc. I actually read the waiver before signing. It seems pretty iron clad. When you start, you meet your virtual tour guide. They walk you through the exhibit, which is really one big empty room. My one issue is there are multiple groups that go through at the same time. There isn't any way to keep from running into other groups and we almost collided with other groups several times. The program is well done. We had a walking tour of the exterior of the pyramid and surrounding places, as well as the interior of the pyramid. The resolution of the VR was excellent. I wouldn't say I felt like I was actually inside a pyramid, but it was well done. Pay attention to the warnings you receive. I felt dizzy a few times and almost fell once. I found myself shuffling my feet to avoid stepping on VR obstacles (yes - silly, I know). But take seriously that you need to pay attention. They have ways for you to let them know if you need help, which is good. Fortunately, I didn't need any help. So, in all, it was a good experience. They have other exhibits, too. But given the dizziness, I'm not sure I would go again. But some of the exhibits look interesting so I may give it another go.

This exceeded my expectations. I'm an experienced VR gamer so I was concerned that it would seem…read morelike something I could just download and do at home. But this is a bit more ambitious than that. The "play" area is very large, way larger than any of us normally has access to for any kind of indoor recreation. Once you've been waiver'd and orientated, you will wear a VR headset similar to the kind you might have at home. No hand controllers though. You will be immersed in a situation and directed to walk around, with some degree of freedom to inspect your virtual surroundings more closely. A story of some sort plays out, which you simply observe without any interaction, but you are fully immersed; it's like you're there. We had booked the Egyptian pyramids experience ("Horizon of Khufu"), and we enjoyed it enough that we reupped for the second experience they had at the time with the dinosaurs ("Life Chronicles"). Again, as someone experienced with VR gaming, the quality of the graphics was not particularly impressive but it got the job done. And I can tell that some impressive under-the-hood logistics worked well to allow dozens of concurrent people to use the same space. You see "ghosts" of others that are nearby to help you avoid bumping into them. I was impressed that it knew one of the ghosts was in a wheelchair; it seems like very thoughtfully-designed tech. If immersive educational exhibits interest you, you will probably quite like this. If you are turned off by VR, you might be pleasantly surprised. The discomfort that is sometimes experienced with at-home setups is greatly offset by the fact that you physically walk around in a large space.

Over the years, this place has kept on investing on more items more exciting things while utilizing the space so cleverly. I think the owners are very intelligent people, they do disinfect this place pretty often as they say, and keep bathroom and floor clean too. They (conveniently) never got back to me before the party to answer basic questions about their packages, confirm details about the food, etc. This is all part of their plan - to be as shady and ambiguous as possible about the party packages. It's a true bait-and-switch scam. They position the arcade package as "unlimited." Buyer beware - there are only like 4 games that are unlimited, all of the other games require an upgrade, which was super frustrating for the kids (and for us). Because their game cards only lasted about 5 minutes, we had to add laser tag to our party package to avoid having the kids just running around aimlessly. Turns out, only about 1/2 of the kids were able to participate because of their shoes. The party planner didn't help us whatsoever with serving the pizza, cupcakes, or cleanup. And then had the nerve to charge a mandatory "service fee" (tip) of over $100. It was a MISERABLE party experience from start-to-finish....and it cost us over $700! Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs!
