I've been to the Cafe twice for mother's day. Once last year and once this year. While we had a great experience last year this year things fell a little flat. Instead of the brunch buffet they had just regular order brunch which was no problem. We had a reservation but some how our reservation got lost. Management was great about getting us seated and our orders in. Service was a little slow and getting refills for the bottomless mimosas. Absolute horrible experience for juniors and kid players. Take your kids elsewhere. We went to hit and wanted to hit in the covered area. There was absolutely NO ONE using the gaming system. I would have moved if I saw someone. Was told to pay the fine for the covered area or get out? We had 10 balls left in the basket.... But still and to pay the $30. We've used this place more often than not. We live at the PGA and always enjoyed the "family" atmosphere here. Definitely won't be returning and hope other families don't as well. Outstanding golf course. The course is in amazing shape the staff goes over and above. Definitely do the charity chip, it helps our local community and it a great deal. Stay away from this public golf course. They do nothing for junior golfers. They quote prices that they don't honor. The workers in the pro shop are rude and really don't care about your business. If you have a junior golfer go to North Palm Beach. Go to any other golf course but this one. read more

Had a fun time on the range at the Nest. Afterwards I decided to get out to play the Nest par 3 course. I was turned away. I was told I could not go out as a single, even though they had a few back to back tee times with nobody booked... when I asked why I couldn't go out as a single in the open times, I was told it was because "it's too busy to send a single out". We visit this area every year. Catch Spring training games and golf a few rounds. We have played Sandhill Crane the past few years. Sadly the service here is non existent. If there's a cart girl out, and that's a big if,you most likely won't see her. She drove right past us on one and we didn't see her the rest of the day. Trailer wasn't open for drinks either. Amazing semi-public course in West Palm Beach! Greens looked perfect and rolling like a 12.7! Well-staffed, everyone super friendly and helpful. When it is slow, they may let you split off into two twosomes if you get paired with someone--starter offered this to us. No marshal chasing you around like some courses in Destin. Driving range is water with floating greens and the buckets are fair priced for facility. read more

The staff, especial the Rangers are extremely rude. The first time I played with my dad at Sandhill Crane. It was the two of us. We got paired up with a twosome. We were all playing very fast. At least we thought we were. We were not hunting for balls nothing just playing as usual, and the Rangers kept harassing us to hurry up. It was so unnerving and horrible Yesterday went to the nest to play with my dad, my 16-year-old daughter and my husband. We were a foursome again playing very fast even at some point playing best ball to hurry it up. The Ranger from the start was harassing us to hurry up, he stood at every hole, staring us down to the point we got so uncomfortable, and my daughter didn't want toplay . My dad was so angry because he knew what happened the last time at the other course. it's so embarrassing to bring people. I live next-door and I don't even want to play it on my own course. I have to travel to Jupiter to feel comfortable playing. They need to do something about these horrible harassing Rangers. There was a twosome behind us we were more than happy to let them play through and I'm not sure what happened but the Ranger Mark, especially Was horrible and harassing. if they want people to play at their course they need to stop this behavior. read more

I'd give it 3.5-4 stars for the course design/condition, and 2-2.5 stars for value/experience. Challenging course that's in good shape (not great shape). Not much different condition-wise than your typical $75 round in the area, but it's almost double the price. Here, you're paying for course design for a challenging round. Was surprised that they don't even offer cups for water - a rarity in hot Florida. Noteworthy: It was an unwelcoming round for us. Felt like a course full of grumpy old men. A ranger got on us for being 5 min behind pace (marginal) despite no one coming up on us from behind and us being on pace with the group ahead of us. Later, the same ranger made a sarcastic, passive-aggressive comment about us checking a ball and then putting it back in place because it wasn't ours. This was about 15 yds past a neighboring green, so we didn't want to steal someone's ball. He was mad we put it back in place (?!). Just totally unnecessary as he drove by. Another older group was passive-aggressive to us about not hearing a "fore," even though we had two people yell it out. Just not what you want to experience while you're out trying to enjoy yourself - especially at the price. read more

I wholeheartedly agree with the most recent comments that the staff here is extremely rude! My husband and I are visiting this area for the first time and will be staying a month. We were out riding around to get familiar with the area and saw the course and stopped in. My husband asked if the course was open to the public. The guy in the pro shop smirked at him and rolled his eyes and said very nastily "its a public course." We asked about booking tee times and he could not have been any more condescending to us. Rude, nasty, surly. There are not enough words to describe downright nasty. What a shame that his life is so very miserable that he needs to treat customers that way. Comments regarding rude staff go back years, so clearly the owners do not care one bit. A real shame. read more

I have played hundreds of courses all over the country and I have never been treated so poorly. There are lots of reviews on Google that say the same thing. The course was fine, pretty well kept and challenging. Notably, the staff was incredibly rude and condescending to my group. I play golf pretty regularly, and played with my mom and girlfriend to get out and have some fun while visiting. The desk worker asked my girlfriend (19) how old she was, and when she replied, he exclaims "Oh my God! I thought you were 12!" When checking in with the starter, he mentioned (like no one else did) that we need one bag per cart, which we didn't have. They then spend 10 minutes getting us an empty bag to put in the cart for looks! The starter made a comment about possibly letting a pair ahead of us, but they weren't ready. He then said "it's alright you'll catch them soon." While playing, this man kept bothering us almost every hole! Coming up to us, threatening to make us skip holes (we were maybe 5 minutes behind) and constantly made condescending comments to my mother and girlfriend. There was also a crew actively plugging holes on the green while I was trying to tee off on a par 3. Good course, terrible staff. read more

Been playing this course for 12 years. Two foursomes 6 rounds each week we come, February, October. Could not be more pleased with golf course staff, from starter, pro shop, dinning, & bar. Tee times are honored, play is within the 4 hrs 4:15 . Course is always in great condition, carts with GPS are great. We were lucky to meet Terry the pro shop manager, very professional and helpful with any questions we had. I really like this golf course! It's public and it's very convenient to where we currently live. The service for golf and inside at the restaurant are both very good. The course is nice and not usually super busy or crowded. The club house is also nice and new with really good food and drinks! I have always enjoyed myself at this golf course. read more

My family and I play this course quite frequently. The course itself is beautiful. It provides enough variety that it is fun for both the beginners and advanced golfers in our group. Unfortunately, the last few times I have visited there always seems to be an issue caused by the staff, mainly the starters. Thought we'd stop a quick meal after a day of golf.Miistake!!! There was almost no one in the restaurant. We waited 40 minutes for a meal( salads and wings). A couple in after us and were finished their meal before ours came. Asked to see manager - the best they could say was we only have one chef. It would have been nice to let us know they had a problem in the kitchen. Nicer if they had offered a drink or dessert. But that didn't happen. Overall poorly managed. read more

For many years I have played this course when it was called a Palm Beach County Course. Now the remodeled reconstructed club house sitting on 140 acres of the Loxahatchee Natural Preserve is looking like a Golf Country Club. Well almost that is... The new named Sandhill Crane Golf Course has a very scenic, full of wild life, 18 hole Roy Case designed course that is in excellent condition. The price to play has jumped up, but that should not stop you from playing a game of golf while enjoying the 19th hole in their new constructed club house. They are still in construction, but that should not affect your game play or any of the other amenities available. One warning though, if you lose your ball in the beautiful nature along the golf course, I would pass on wandering into the scenery. There are plenty of interesting residents at this club that might not like you waking them up. read more

The nest par 3 is a new course but it's nothing but mud and the greens are horrible. And not only do they put doubles behind party of fours but then they rush you. Had to pay $80 just to skip a few holes. Played $30 courses better than this. read more

Extremely nice public golf course! The driving range is s big lake with some island greens. How cool! The balls float and there was a guy on #9 with a net fishing them out! Not a good job! Lots of wildlife but we didn't see any gators. I'm sure they were lurking around! The greens were surprisingly fast but playable. On the back nine, there were a couple of funky holes that didn't make much sense. We had a very good lunch in the clubhouse. The grouper tacos were tasty! All in all, I give this a thumbs up. I'm an avid golfer and a member at private country clubs in Vero Beach, so when my brothers and I went to West Palm area for a weekend and they wanted to play a city course I was skeptical. However, we arrived and this gem approaches a country club experience, beautiful clubhouse, accommodating staff and a golf course impeccably maintained! Aside from the inadequate driving range one would think they were arriving to play at an exclusive club. We stayed for dinner after in the restaurant which was serving a prime rib special that evening that was of great size and quality, accompanied by live music and attentive staff. Wow. Terrible lunch. I ordered the steak and eggs... mind you it's prime rib. I've always had New York strip or rib eye, never have I ever had prime rib with steak and eggs. I do like prime rib, but didn't expect to have it with this dish. Any way, I asked for medium and it turned out to be medium-well and it was served COLD. The food came out cold. If you're busy or can't handle much as a cook use a thermometer. I was in the restaurant Industry for more than 10 years and am a cook myself. Do yourself a favor and make food correctly. Very disappointing considering the location and country club. Stay away from the restaurant because it is not worth your time, at all. I hate writing bad reviews, but this was bad. read more

We were a bit disappointed when we played this course. We were ok with the course, however, the customer service and courtesy left a lot to be desired. We are not ones to dilly dally around. When at the hole with a contest, one of our people hit the green and we asked what does she do to get her name in for the contest. The Marshall had no idea and literally sat there watching us. Well we did the best we could (and I'm guessing she just donated the money because it was very confusing). Two holes later the Marshall came and said we were behind. Well I guess so since we had no assistance from him which is where we fell behind. Oh and how about the two twosomes behind us? Why not try putting them together and then maybe they wouldn't be catching us. The person who said previously they were rude was right. Oh and after they cleaned our clubs post game and sat them outside of the cart area, there was no help offered to put them in the cart. Guess they figured they got their tips! I had been it was a good place to eat but none of us had any desire to give them any more money after the experience ce we had. Very disappointing. read more

We just had our wedding here this month. We couldn't have picked a better venue. I'm going to start with service because they really went above and beyond. A month and a half before our wedding we got an email that we were getting a new coordinator, which made us a little nervous. The first time we met James Gelfand, however, our minds were immediately put at ease. He not only has decades of experience in the industry, but he's also incredibly easy to work with and open to all suggestions. He was diligent and made sure that every detail and request we had was addressed. Every aspect of our wedding ran so smoothly. Even when I got a call that morning from my mother in law that the cupcakes were delivered without tiers, I got a call one minute later that James fixed the problem, and I showed up to a beautiful last minute display he put together. I really had nothing to worry about the day of the wedding. The entire staff was really on point. I was getting comments on how great the bartender was and I completely agree. All the drinks were great and she kept everyone happy. Our waiter kept delivering my drink to me even before I finished the previous one! The entire staff contributed to the flow of the evening, and it all went better than we could've hoped. No one had trouble getting food, drink, or any help. As for the food, everyone was raving about the hors d'oeuvres! James even saved us a plate of them since we were busy taking pictures during cocktail hour. We had the tasting for the meal a couple months before and even though they asked what we could improve, everything was already great. Our two options were the chicken/prawn and short rib. Every part of the meal was delicious, and we actually plan on coming back after the wedding to try their restaurant The Dancing Crane which has the same chefs. The cupcakes we had, instead of a cake, were amazing, and they were definitely worth it even though we had the mix up with the tiers. With our included package, we got three different flavors (pumpkin, strawberry shortcake, and s'mores) and actually had leftovers for days even with friends and family asking for more. The venue itself is gorgeous. There's a new country club where the venue is a beautiful octagonal high ceiling ballroom with modern light fixtures and tall glass doors that open to a wrap around balcony overlooking the golf course. As soon as we walked in, we were in love, and the all inclusive package and the value compared to other places just sealed the deal. Lastly, I would like to mention that I've never taken the time to write such a long review about anything, but I would do it again because of how happy we were with Sandhill Crane and their entire staff. As a person who stresses over small details and didn't want a big wedding to begin with because I thought we had to spend a fortune for something truly amazing, this venue really went above and beyond our expectations.
