I have stayed here many times. Excellent location due to the availability and walkable access to places that have a variety of food options, shopping, and even a public beach and playground. There is also a hidden gem nearby. Houston's, which is an excellent steakhouse. Though I missed the old Florida vibe of this place, the remodels are wonderful. First off, let me give the biggest compliments where they're due: the staff at the Sands Harbor is, hands down, second to none. Hubby got unexpectedly stuck in Pompano Beach for several weeks while there on business, and they have treated him like family from day 1. He is absolutely not easy to please, but they have surpassed expectation and been absolutely wonderful to him. My boys and I went to visit this last weekend, and every single staff member we passed greeted my husband by name with a giant smile and a pleasantly helpful attitude. I think, besides hiring great people, this boils down to the manager of this hotel, who is stellar. He's got a great demeanor, is extremely knowledgeable about his trade and his hotel, and has trained his staff to a level surpassing much more expensive venues. The building, itself, is showing signs of its age, which is not unusual for a seaside place like this. The doors don't always want to open because they stick, the locks are finicky, at best, floors on some of the hallways have peeling paint here and there, and the bathroom leaked from above ours while we were there this weekend. THIS BEING SAID, however, every time we mentioned an issue, the staff was all over getting them fixed asap. They even went out and bought the hubster a coffee maker for the room when he complained that he didn't have one (evidently they aren't typically provided) AND they gave him a second mini fridge for some special meds he has to keep cold. Checked in, went up to the room, sat on the bed, looked at the ceiling and saw roaches went down immediately to get a refund. We booked for three nights. They issued a refund for the two other nights and told us that we would have to speak to the manager Raymond the next day so we called him. Im still in shock that the Sands Harbor has turned into what it is now. $50 per person to jump in the pool? No thanks. We've always been big spenders here, but that's just absurd. The sound system was laughable, the umbrella policy was inconsistent, and don't even get started on the room rental policy capped out at 2 people, that we would never even stay in. The hotel is extremely dated charging hard rock resort day prices. We'll just take our business elsewhere. We have been going to this resort for over 10/years as a local support. We dock our boat, dine, enjoy cocktails & occasionally enjoy the pool. We were told that we require a "Day Pass" to enjoy the pool which is not a problem. But a Junior Manager handled it the wrong way. Several other people did not have wrist bands on but we were told we needed to leave because we did not have a Day Pass Band. We were not even offered to buy a Day Pass. After we spent over $200 in food & beverages at an EMPTY resort- they could have used some discretion. I do NOT recommend the value of a Day Pass at this Run Down, Over Priced Dump of a a hotel. That all you smell is dead rodents in the rat traps, backed up sewage lines in the restrooms that smells like poop & piss, poor service & mediocre over priced average food. Yes- do not go here!!! Stayed here one night during memorial Day weekend..greeted by Raymond who was extremely friendly, helpful, and professional. Made the whole experience at the this resort top knotch. Beautiful views, clean rooms and loved the balcony to hang out dive gear to dry, lovely pool, and greeted by everyone that works here. Recently we stopped here for an early dinner with our friends John and Steve, on their boat. We had to wait a bit to dock since the place was full. Finally we were able to and it was easy from then on. The restaurant has a great location right on the Intracoastal and pretty much every table and seat has a view of the water. We checked in with the host and we got a nice table right by the water. We all loved our food. My kebabs were delicious (I am glad I remembered to ask for medium rare, otherwise, the waiter said, it would had come well done). The fries were crispy and crunchy. My husband and friends got sandwiches and they also loved them. The restroom is located inside the hotel, just steps from the host station. Great place for a nice meal by the water. read more

I stayed at the marina, and when I went to connect my 30 amp electricity to my boat, I received an indication of reverse polarity at the power pedestal. I took a video of myself using an amp meter to check the circuit and verified. It was wired incorrectly when I notified the Dockmaster, who became very defensive and stated they checked it and there's nothing wrong, which my video shows otherwise. He was extremely rude and didn't offer to make any concessions, even though the boat worked perfectly at my next three stops so it was clearly their pedestal. Also, the bathrooms were atrocious. The doors look like they've been beaten in, and I literally felt unsafe walking around the marina at night. I would not recommend this marina to anybody. read more

Had a reservation for the past 2 weeks. This morning at 7:52 a.m., received an email stating that the credit card on file was not going through and to call to ensure the reservation wasn't cancelled. We were at the hospital for an outpatient procedure this morning. Upon getting home we received another email time stamped 10:52 a.m. stating they were sorry our reservation was cancelled, and to call back if this was an error. Called back and talked to Brittany. She stated the card didn't go through so the reservation was cancelled. Asked to run a different card and was told that the water view room we had reserved was already gone. Sounds a little fishy. We travel all the time. This just doesn't happen. Our cards our good, 830+ credit scores. Brittany didn't care one bit. She blamed us. So, we just booked another hotel without issue. My daughter lives in Pompano, we were going on a cruise and so I had gotten a Wednesday and Thursday night stay at Sands and go on our cruise on Friday morning. There was severe thunderstorms here in Texas and the airport was shut down and I was not able to get out for two days until Friday. I called them Wednesday night told them I couldn't be there bc the next flight out I could get was Friday. They said after the charge goes through to call back. Because I booked with booking.com, I probably would not be able to get refunded. Today I got back and called The Sands Harbor Resort and spoke Julia, who said she is the manager. She said there isn't anything she can do and continues to tell me it's clearly stated there's no refunds on their bookings. I said there was nothing I could do either. 1 Star - Extremely Unprofessional and Dishonest Customer Service I am leaving this review due to an extremely frustrating and unprofessional experience with Sands Harbor Beach Resort. I was charged $339 without authorization and never stayed at this hotel. When I called to resolve the issue, I was repeatedly told by an employee named Brittany that a refund email had been sent to me. After verifying my email address multiple times and calling back repeatedly, no email was ever sent. Instead of being honest and transparent, I was led in circles and told information that was simply not true. Later, at approximately 9:20 PM, I contacted a manager (his name may have been Roger). I was placed on hold for about 30 minutes. When he returned, he stated that Brittany never sent an email because "there was nothing to send." This directly contradicted everything I had been told previously and wasted an unreasonable amount of my time. If no email was going to be sent, that should have been clearly stated from the beginning instead of having me repeatedly call and "harass" staff just to get accurate information. To make matters worse, the manager then stated that they are now "not showing any charge on my account," effectively denying the situation entirely. He also told me that because I reported the charge to my bank as fraud, he could no longer help me. This is extremely concerning and feels like an attempt to avoid responsibility rather than resolve a legitimate issue. This entire experience was not only unprofessional, but also confusing, dismissive, and frankly unsettling. Honest communication could have resolved this quickly. Instead, I was met with misinformation, avoidance, and denial. I would strongly caution anyone considering doing business here. If an issue arises, do not expect transparency, accountability, or effective customer service. read more

Feb 14 2025, love the vibe of this restaurant. The tables outside overlook the intercostal, great view. Steve, our waiter, took excellent care of our table of nine and made sure we had everything we needed. He is the best Server we have had in a long time he went over and beyond helping our large party. He is for sure an asset to the team. The food was good for a Hotel/Resturant, but unfortunately, the margaritas were tasteless and didn't seem to have any alcohol. Next time I will order wine or beer. This hotel should be negative stars. Their rooms are disgusting and when you ask to have the room cleaned, their incredibly unhelpful staff will tell you, "this ain't the Marriott." The room smelled like mold and bleach (to try to hide the mold smell) and there were stains everywhere. Their outdoor space is laughable with a tiny area for guests and the rest of the space taken up by tables for their restaurant. The cherry on top though? They scammed my elderly parents (who have never done a drug in their life) and charged them damages because the staff "smelled pot" outside their room. Mind you, the staff is no where to be found when walking the hallways. I would implore anyone looking for a hotel in Pompano to look elsewhere. read more

Hi I just want to say rage this place is a diamond in the rough. I've been comming here for years for birthday parties , eclipse parties, and just friends for pool party. It's gorgeous , and the food is excellent , along with great service. Just had a party for my husbands 70th and it was the best party ( and I've been around ) !! Staff is rude and rooms run down. Tub paint peeling, faucet not working properly, Door chain installed backwards so not effective. AC not working in room and when desk informed they were not responsive. Wish the staff could have been more helpful. Seemed inconvenienced by guests questions. Breakfast included on website but only coffee avail 7-10 am. Charge for parking and additional rm fees. Nice location but does not make up for the lackluster accommodations. read more

Booked "Premier" room; lamp not working; tv not working (maintenance had to be called); blind slat laying on floor. Their web site said all fees included. When checking out, told there was a $20.00+tax /night Facilities fee. When we checked in the pool and restaurant were closed for renovation. So what "facilities"??? Ice machines only on 1st floor. Box breakfast consisted of tiny bottle of water, apple, tiny yogurt and plastic wrapped muffin. Would NEVER recommend this property!!! read more

I paid in advance for a three night stay at your hotel from April 3 - 6th, 2025. I used valet parking while I was there. On April 5th, at approximately 2:30pm I took the elevator down from the 8th floor to the lobby. After the door closed, the elevator did not move. The alarm in the elevator went off and I waited for about 10 minutes while the alarm continued. I then used the elevator call button to ring for help. It rang repeatedly for about 10 times and then hung up. I waited for another few minutes, while the alarm was still going, and realized that nothing was going to happen. I then began looking for a way to either get out on my own or to open the door and call for help. I shifted the door to see if it would open and it did not. I then started pushing on the door and heard something move within the door. I stepped back and the elevator moved down to the lobby. In total, this seemed like a 20 minute experience. It could have been longer or shorter; I did not have a stop watch. I decided right then that I would not stay at the hotel any longer. I had heard that someone else was stuck in the elevator two days prior, and I did not feel good about the situation at all. I walked back up to my room and packed up and walked down the stairs with my bags. On my way out, I told the front desk about my experience. There was a male and a female at the front desk. I explained what had happened that I was too scared to stay, and that I knew it had happened a couple of days prior. The male acknowledged that it had happened prior but did not offer to say that it had been looked into. I said I would like a call from the manager, which as of now I have still not had. Having not received a call from anyone as requested, I called the next day and discussed the situation with a female attendant (Juliette?) I did not feel I was listened to as I was repeatedly interrupted and told that there was no issues and that the elevator had been inspected after I left, and that it was also inspected the two days prior. She took my number and said I would be called. I was not. I then received a message to leave my email address which I then called back and left. Two days later (now five days AFTER the incident), I received an email stating "Dear Mr. **************** Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention regarding the elevator during your recent stay 4/3-4/6 in room ***. Following your report, we conducted a thorough diagnostic of the elevator system for the date and time in question. Our maintenance team found no malfunctions or irregularities during that period. All systems were operating normally, and no disruptions were recorded by our monitoring equipment. As a result, we are unable to confirm any elevator-related incident that would warrant compensation for your stay. We understand that any inconvenience--real or perceived--can impact a guest's experience, and we truly regret if you felt uncomfortable at any time. Should you have any further information or details to share, please reach out. Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again. This coming from an elevator system that was clearly malfunctioning in the first place. I find it incredibly insulting and more than disappointing to not only NOT get a phone call, but to get an email saying essentially that "IT NEVER HAPPENED," and I "perceived" it happened. I am curious to know how they keep their elevator records? Are there any recording devices on premise to invalidate or corroborate my story? How would one know for certain based on the elevator records that it "didn't happen?" I stayed two nights in total and was charged for three nights with three resort days and had a traumatic experience in an elevator, and now was told that I made the story up. My follow up credit card showed a payment of $218.69 to the hotel on April 7 but I did not receive an invoice for it. I would expect that it was for three days of resort fees ($60) plus two valet nights ($50) and four drinks ($50), but this does not add up to $219 ($160). ************************ I followed up to their email stating it never happened, and asking them to again respond to me more appropriately. I did not state that I would be leaving a bad review or threaten any other action. They simply did not respond. Dear future guests, judge for yourself. Very disappointed. I went with my partner, who had booked a room with us for Friday- Sunday. We got there early only to our disappointment finding out that it was closed! We called the number on the door and the man told us they will be closed until the fall. They gave us the location of their sister hotel in pompano. Only to find out they received less than 2 days prior notice. Therefore, they could not accommodate us. Thankfully we were able to find a nice hotel in Hillsboro for a decent price. However, a major inconvenience for us. And for the hotel not to call us (I'm sure they didn't call others) is horrible customer service. For that reason, we will never stay there. Nor will we recommend this hotel. By the way, most third party websites are showing it can still be booked, so beware!!! read more

Our server was great! However, having been going here for years and today was the worst experience. Went for a drink before dinner, only ok, 6 people, rum runner iced was not good. Dinner, not hot at all, ordered the chips and guacamole and the chips were stale, did not charge us for them, they would have been removed anyway. The pita with the smoked fish were stale or left out in the salt air. You used to get at least hard plastic glasses for drinks today only plastic cups. Walls are made of paper. Can hear all the neighbors activities, tv, loud sex and loud talking. Blue accent light on the balcony comes through the room. Curtains are venitian blinds and don't block light. Bring earplugs and eyecover. They use horrible fabulous products on floor leaving a strong chemical smell. A lot of noise especially in am with all the lawn workers disrupting breakfast. Breakfast is a joke. Ceiling in bathroom fell through. No ventilation in bathroom. I almost don't want to write this review because I want to keep the greatness all to myself! LOL We arrived as a party of 4 including our 9 year old daughter for dinner on a Friday night. To get to the restaurant, you walk through the hotel lobby out the back by the pool. The hostesses were friendly and sat us between the lively bar and the band near the pool (we had a reservation). The service was great, and the food and drinks were on point. People were swimming, dancing, and listening to the music. The vibe was laid back and relaxed. I worked here years ago as housekeeping manager and I see the improvements! Still some maintenance issues like that pesky elevator and puddles outside my door causing slippery walking. Staff and service outstanding! Love the bang bang shrimp at the patio and thoroughly enjoyed my time there as a guest for the 2nd time since my employment! I had a fabulous dinner at Rusty Hook and on Saturday a group of folks arrived for a meet and greet affair which I was told this event was to occur and jumped right in! Check out day they stored my luggage and allowed me to play in the pool. More importantly my CC card had been compromised my 2nd day and the front desk helped me with this situation which after 4 hours of nervously awaiting a solution finally ended well! Thank you, Kourtney! Before booking our stay she was extremely helpful over the phone. When we arrived from the airport, starving and ten minutes before the kitchen closed she saw us to the bar and looked after our luggage while we ate. After a day of Diving she volunteered to help us with reservations at the Rusty Hook. Our room was recently renovated. It was very comfortable and the A/C was cold. We enjoyed a great view of the marina from the 6th floor. We had two meals at the hotel. The food and the service were very good and the service was great! It was very convenient to walk to South Florida Diving Headquarters each day with our gear to check-in and get settled on the dive boats. We look forward to coming back soon. read more

We went to dinner at the Rusty Hook and one from our group used the men's room which is attached to the Sands Resort. Three of the three stalls were absolutely filthy. The toilets were filled with poop and urine. The seats were soiled and toilet tissue was over over the restroom floor. The stench was unbearable even with a mask! Our friend went to report this immediately to the restaurant manager (wears a hat) and he said he is not responsible for the restroom even though his patrons use that restroom. So the manager blamed the restaurant so we then reported it to the front desk at the hotel and they claim someone would attend to it. I hope they do! read more

Went here for Sunday brunch today for the first time. Beautiful setting, table right by the water. Music playing at just the right volume to give fun ambience, but not annoyingly loud. Our server Robin was fantastic--friendly and efficient, gave us just the right amount of attention. We were very pleasantly surprised by how good the food was! Usually these type of places affiliated with hotels are very mediocre. Delicious egg sandwich and well seasoned breakfast potatoes. Strawberry french toast was great. Will definitely return! read more
