We chose R Pools after receiving a promotion in the mail that stated: "$25.00 Full Service Weekly Pool Cleaning NEW CUSTOMERS ONLY Visit rpoolsllc.com for other weekly service programs. Call for details. Expires 5/26/25" I called for details and asked specifically what the price would be AFTER the promotion ends. I was told that nothing would change, that's the price moving forward, forever! It was too good to be true, my husband and I thought. The guy shows up to clean our pool and we ask him the same thing. In our minds there must be a catch. But he too said, nope, that's the price, it will not change. The first payment posted and it was $108 so I called them and they stated they charge monthly. Phew! Ok so far so good!!! Next month the payment was $204!! So again, I called and asked what the extra charge was. The lady stated that the $25 a week was a promotion that only lasts the first month. I told her that we had been lied to twice, and she apologized and said well it states that the price will increase on the invoice. Sure enough the invoice stated it would increase after the first month. However, the person I talked to on the phone originally and the guy who showed up at my pool blatantly lied to my face. Just sad. Very bad business. It's wrong to lie and deceive people. It's just not nice. I hope that this stops because I'm sure the people working for you would like to work for honest people. R Pools did an amazing job and I highly recommend them. Most honest and straightforward. During the freeze we had many of our tiles pop off and had some plaster issues. I received four quotes to get my plaster and tiles done. We chose R Pools because CW was the most upfront didn't seem like they would come up with extra charges as a few other companies had in their contracts. The quote he gave was what we paid. When it came to the day to start there were some weather issues, but he contacted me first thing in the morning. CW was great, he communicated with me daily, made sure everyone was on task. Even with the delays due to the rain they finished in 4 days. CW then came out the morning the pool was finished filling and got it all started up. The crew that works with R Pools was great, and they cleaned up after themselves. Issue was not fixed on the first visit, was told a valve was turned wrong. Still paid $119. Asked to come retake a look and fix the issue since it was still happening, and was told we'd have to pay another $119 charge + parts to fix it. I'm sorry but if you say it's fixed the first time, the second visit isn't my fault, and even when I had asked was told they "believe there wouldn't be a charge" for the second visit. I called to see if he can come back out to rescrub the walls as there was spots he carelessly missed due to the fact he rushed through our first service. The customer service rep made every excuse except for having the employee return to do a better job. When you have ledge loungers they need to be cleaned around, but he didn't even touch my hot tub or sun ledge. Overall the cheaper service isn't better. Absolutely awful. This company installed a seal in my pump less than a year ago. It failed and is leaking, so I called to have them come fix it. They told me they couldn't get me in the schedule until A WEEK later and would call to confirm the time. So I made arrangements to be home all day the following week. Never got a call with an estimated time, so I called to ask and was told I was never scheduled. Instead of admitting they messed up, they said now it would be another week before I could get on their schedule... while my pump continues to leak. I asked if there was any way they could work me in since they made a mistake, and was simply told no. They also told me they didn't warranty their work, so I gladly called another company with much better customer service and got immediate attention. Very disappointed in this company! We continually receive mail advertisements from R Pools and with a pool heater issue, we made a call to have a tech come out and give us an estimate. The receptionist mentioned selling us a new heater even before the tech came out to look at the heater. We were told that there would be a charge for the tech to come out. The heater was working, cycling on and off too quickly for any heat to be tranferred to the water. The tech said that we really needed to have a new heater and he would sell us one that would only heat the spa at a lower cost. He then replaced a part that he said we needed and we told him we would think about the new heater. We tried the heater when he left (after a substancial cost) and it did not even turn on. So after several hundred dollars, we called another pool company and were very pleased. In essence, R Pools only wanted to sell and install equipment. I do not recommend this company. My heater is now working perfectly thanks to My Pool Xpert. read more

I contracted with R Pools to acid wash my pool. We agreed on a price and the dates they would do the work. I rearranged my schedule to accommodate them. The day came and the service person called me and told me he was on his way. Not long thereafter, and before the service person arrived, another person (Danielle) from the company called me and told me they would not do the work unless I paid them one-half of the cost in advance! This had never been mentioned to me during our previous discussions. (Anyone who has lived in the Houston area for a reasonable length of time knows that paying a contractor in advance is not a very good idea.) I cancelled the appointment. read more

I have had a handful of pool services in the past but usually ended up disappointed and back to doing it myself due to rushed services of guys doing a quick skim, empty baskets and leave service - many in 15 min or less. We tried R Pools during the 2018 season and I was happy to see that every week the tech showed up about the same time on the same day and did a complete service - skim, vacuum, chemicals, empty baskets and cleaner. Each week the tech spent 45-60 minutes doing the job right. The pool looked its best in many years. We'll be hiring again this year. read more

I called to set up an appointment to have them look over all of the pool equipment since it had not been run in 5 years. The pool needed work done, as well, since it was green. Really just needed an estimate for the equipment in preparation for selling the house. They set a resonable timeframe and showed up promptly! After looking at the equipment the tech said let me take the pool measurements and I'll pass it on to our guy who does the in-pool refurbishing just to see what it would cost in case it had to be replastered. Wished there was a way to leave zero stars, because that is what they deserve! I have used them for over a year and had many issues/problems. The biggest issue is that the technicians: 1) are lazy (several times I would watch through the window and know they never checked the water chemistry, but would sit in his truck for 10 minutes to make it appear as-if he was 'working' longer) 2) only know how to clean the pool 3) are clueless about how to service the pool; especially salt water pools. If you have a salt water pool; do NOT consider using these people!!! I finally FIRED them today. When I returned from out of town Friday morning (less than 48 hours after the Pool was supposedly 'serviced' I discovered: 1) Pool pump not running; pump was never primed after emptying the strainer immediately in front of the pump ( good thing I have a prime protect function, otherwise I am sure the pump would have been destroyed) 2) the pH was greater than 8.6; I had to add 1.25 gallons of concentrated HCl into the pool in order to buffer back to normal; when I brought this to their attention, they said it rained Thursday and that is what caused the pH to climb so much (anybody ever heard of caustic rain?). They then attempted to blame the high pH on the chlorine generator; however, the generator only works when the pump is on, and if the pH is out of range the generator is programmed to quit running. If all you want is someone to skim/vacuum the pool, then they are reasonably competent. If you want someone to do more than this, then look elsewhere! read more

I wouldn't even give them one star if Yelp didn't give you a choice. I received a flyer from this company in April advertising a special. I was going to be gone a lot this summer, and I had never used a service before, but I needed to make sure my pool was maintained. I called R Pools and requested weekly service beginning end of May. A person was scheduled to come out on Friday morning, May 31st. and I stayed at home to show him around and also to introduce my dogs who might ir might jot be there when he came next. When I had received no phone call, and nobody had showed up by 6:00pm, I called the company and told them "never mind" since I had taken the day off and they hadn't even bothered to call it show up. Next morning someone did show up without any warning. He apologized and said they were seriously understaffed and that the flyers had caused them so much new business they didn't have enough people to handle it all. I told him to go ahead and clean the pool and that I would give the company another chance. They were scheduled to come every Friday, brush the pool sides, replenish water and chemicals as needed. Test the chemicals, and vacuum if needed. The pool is set on a timer, so the skimmer and pump run automatically. The following Friday, I came home to a note on the fence stating that the pool cleaner had cleaned my pool, but then there was a note at bottom that said he had not actually done so because my dogs were in the backyard. I had discussed the dogs with the cleaner the week before and he was fine with them. I called and told them I didn't want there to be any confusion with the billing because the guy had not cleaned my pool. We were out of town, and the dogs were gone too, from June 14th until the end of June. I had refilled the Chlorine tower just before leaving. So 3 visits by R Pools should have been made during that time. We came home on the 29th. R Pools was supposedly servicing our pool while we were gone and should have been there just the day before. The pool was a mess. There was algae on the walls, the water level was down by 8" and the pump was running on no water because of it. The Chlorine Tower which holds 8 disks was empty. I immediately called R Pools and cancelled our service. I had yet to receive a bill. The woman who answered the phone asked for my name. After I gave it to her, she read what was supposedly my address. (ie "oh, at 12345 Brook Creek Drive?") No, it's 12345 Creek Brook Drive. She then said, "Oh yeah, right". Then she asked if there was a reason I was canceling my service. So I told her all of the above. She said "oh gee, sorry about all that." And that was it. So, when I finally did receive the bill, I wrote the whole incident down on the statement and sent them a check for the only time I know for sure they actually were there. My advice, find another pool company. This one may have been ok when they were small, but obviously now have too many customers, not enough employees and the quality of employees has seriously gone down. read more

DO NOT BE FOOLED!! I am not sure if Babette is friends with the company or not but her review is a joke! In April I received a flyer advertising service. I've never had a pool company and decided to give them a try. My pool was NOT in good shape when I called them, they quoted me the $33 weekly plus $79 one time cleaning fee to have it "swim able". I took the day off so my wife wouldn't be home alone with our baby when they showed up. The kid brushed the walls put in shock, and told me he "couldn't reach the bottom" he didn't vacuum or anything. I called and talked to Brandon, he said he would get somebody back out. Two days later two guys came back out to vacuum, when I came home that day there was still algae on the bottom. You could see big rows were they had missed with the vacuum. I called Brandon again MAD, he sent someone back out an the tech actually said "this is a rookie job". It took a week and three different visits to do what I was told would take or visit. When I got my first bill it was for almost $300!!!!! I called furious and Brandon actually said "well we wouldn't have made any money if we had went with the original quote." Excuse me?! I sent him a check for what it should've actually been. After that they wouldn't show up on the day they should've then the next day we would find a note saying they couldn't clean because the gate was locked (my wife is a stay at home mom) they never knocked. The final straw was when a tech came out and replaced the skimmer doors, the basket in the pump and the O-ring without my say so and tried to charge me $60. We for some reason used RPools for months. We were new to pool ownership when we purchased our house. Our original pool cleaner from Discount Pools did a great job but he was very expensive. So, we found RPools and in the beginning they seemed to be doing a good job. We were told it was probably time for a filter cleaning right away and we needed a new valve. Neither of these were brought up on our home inspection or by the prior pool cleaner. Then we were told after the filter clean we also now needed a new DE filter. We still weren't sure we needed one because we weren't seeing any issues. Actually, what started happening was our pool was not being cleaned properly. There was dirt and sediment at the bottom of the pool and the walls were not scrubbed good. But, Danielle in the office spent weeks arguing with my husband over our issue and blaming our filter for the walls not being clean and the dirt on the bottom right after the cleaning. We finally were tired of the terrible customer service and bad cleanings. We now switched to ABC Home and they actually cleaned our pool perfectly. Day 2 and none of the prior problems have occured. They said our filter pressure was great and all equipment looked good. Interesting. The worst part about all of it was definitely the customer service and lack of care about our problems. read more

I've been using R Pool since around 2012 and I receive the introductory offer as referenced in some of the reviews, and I was told that the discount would convert to the normally pricing, so there wasn't any misconceptions about the weekly cost. I would admit that I had a tech who was not that good, so contacted, via phone the office and they took care of the issue, either by switching out the tech, not charging me for the service, etc. Pam took care of the issue, and I've remained a loyal customer, and my pool looks amazing. I can't forgot to add that I've tried three other companies that were either cheaper/more expensive, and I continue to return to RPools and ask for the same tech. read more

This is a sham n scam company.. They get you by advertising an special of 150 a month. They are the WORST pool cleaners I have met from Ca to Texas and if I could give a ZERO I would my pool was only green for an week I paid them almost 300 to clean the filter and chemicals.. they claimed that's what it was. A week later they claimed the filter needs to be cleaned by ME.. Every day they said I need to clean the filter.. Or drain my pool which was drained 6 mos ago. they had cleaned filter 5 days ago mind you. When I told the Lady that's what I pay them for and I have NEVER had a pool company to tell Me to clean my own filter plus she says they wont show me how.. At this point I knew this lady or company DID NOT KNOW WHAT THE HELL THEY WERE DOING.. she stated if you do not like our service you do not need to keep us. I wish I had read the reviews before I used this company. They are very unethical and Brandon, the owner, is absolutely a crook. I have a similar story as Charles except mine ends with no one at the company returning my calls. We went through months of dealing with them, they constantly said they would come on a certain day and never showed up. I spoke to Brandon several times and he constantly blew smoke, saying what he thought I wanted to hear. We paid for a leak detection test and they found one leak, two weeks later we had another one. One month later we have two major ones and no one returns my calls! Brandon knew they screwed up at one point so he did a SECOND "drain and clean" on his dime and with our ever discussing it with me. I got stuck with a $300 water bill when they refilled the pool. He had to do this to cover up the fact that they lied about coming out to maintain the pool weekly and charging me. Several techs even commented about the way he runs his business. Total scam artists!! After leaving this review, Brandon emailed me stating they were still waiting for me to call them and perhaps I didn't have their phone number correct. I replied that my husband and I have left 7 messages with his office and I left 3 with his service technician and no one responded. Well, he still hasn't responded to that. R Pools was servicing our pool when we bought our house in July, and we decided to keep them on. We have not had any complaints. They always do a magnificent job, and leave the flyer with what they did, and when the pool can be used again. Our pool motor broke the day before our housewarming party, which we had already been using R Pools for almost 2 months by this time. They had told us previously, that they could service our pool on Fridays, but it usually cost more and that was their busiest day. Ours is serviced on Wednesdays. Anyways, I got home from work on this Friday and realized the pool was not running, when it should have been. We know nothing about pools, so I called R Pools, and within 2 hours someone was at our house and figured out the problem. He replaced something in the motor, along with something else, and telling me the cost before he proceeded. I was really worried they were not going to be able to come out. I can't remember the name of the lady that answers the phone, but she is always polite. They have pool school, which we did about a month after moving in, where a person comes out and instructs you on the workings of the pool. There have not been many issues over the years, but when they've occurred, R Pools has always responded immediately, honestly and thoroughly.
