This has got to be the most caring and compassionate vet ever. I can't say enough good things. As stated in my previous review this vet has the best prices in the area. Believe me I have looked. My Dog was 12 and had a tumor and we had to put him down. It has been awful missing my dog but the vet has been nothing but compassionate. They said they would bill me instead of making me pay while I was sobbing and when I recieved an envolope in the mail thinking it was a bill it was a card from the vet telling me how sorry they are about what happened to my dog. They still have yet to bill me. Today I went back for my cat because she had some scabbing on her neck and when I paid they told me what the balance would be for my dog and informed me that they made me a paw print for me and I can get it in a couple weeks. I got in my car and cried! I just was putting together some scrapbooking stuff for my dog and was so mad at myself that in 12 years time I never took a paw print from my dog and they did it for me. I took my dog in for a routine spay and they botched the procedure. They called me a couple of hours after they discovered their error (precious time wasted) and told us of the problem at 6pm when they were closing for the day. It was up to us to save our dog. We took her to VCA in Aurora where they operated on her at 9pm on a Friday night to repair the internal bleeding caused by the botched spay procedure. read more

My family and I have been taking our dogs here for 9+ years! They always do a great job with our dogs. They show how much they care about animals in the way they talk to us and our furry babies. We have had a couple surgeries done here as well and they have been fantastic when hearing our concerns or when we call to check up! Our dogs love Laura, Sam, and Dr. Breckenridge so much:) We have one little dog that isn't the biggest fan of the vet/groomer and they still take him in! made an appointment for my dog Brody for first time being there and of concerne for a fungal infection on his leg... and do get him updated in his shots.. I never seen the dr. examine him with stethoscope and do routine examination at all !! just took a light to his fungal infection and did determine that problem! i left paying my bill.. but then thought to myself at home. I never got a good Exam of my Dog!! Was irritated so I called back that day!! They gave me interrogation to prove that the doctor Did Do!! asking me questions of what did Dr. look like, and what did vet tech look like?!!! I couldn't remember until after the interrogation!! Outstanding grooming services. When you sign up to bring your pet in they do overkill a little bit with the emails and text notifications and everything else. However, their grooming service is readily available with short notice and they do an excellent job. My dog left very happy and made some friends! read more

Within the past week, I had to send my boxer who is 14+ years old over the rainbow bridge. I feel blessed that I found Dr. Kate St. John. She never met my fur baby Buck before, however she was so compassionate and comforting at this very distressful time. I don't know if I'll get another fur baby but if I do, I know who will help me with his lifelong health plan. I love this office! Great vets and staff. Only clinic who has been able to get my highly anxious dog the help he needs. Dr. Heidi Dinelli was able to prescribe my dog with an anti anxiety medicine for days where he needs to be taken to the vet. The staff and doctors are very thorough and compassionate and take the time to explain things and listened to my concerns as a very concerned dog parent. Their vet techs are very experienced and have been working there a long time which makes me feel confident in their handling and abilities. They have been the only vet who has been able to help my dog and I am so grateful! read more

Took my cat in to get spayed and declawed. Simple procedures. Turned into me picking her up and transporting her to another hospital to get a blood transfusion, resulting in saving her life! First, I was not explained how the blood pretest before surgery is important. Secondly, they waited about 10 hrs, if not more, for her to bleed out, before conatcting me and telling me she will not survive the night, you need to transport her. I should have been notified in the morning, when it didn't need to result in a blood transfusion. Instead, I was told that she was sleeping, come pick her up later. What difference would it have made if she was sleeping or not, except that she was bleeding and they were trying to cover their butts before I picked her up. The manager was not helpful, and before I was done talking to her, she switched me over to the vet. So now I am stuck with a $3,000 bill for a blood transfusion, which is not my concern. My concern is that my cat should not have gone through this. And gee, I wonder where the negative review of the gentelman and his experience with his dog went that he posted? A day after this post, I noticed the cat was biting her paws. took her to a vet and it was discovered she had bitten 3 of her paws to the bone because they were infected. Everything that could have gone wrong, did!!!! And the icing on the cake, the bill for the spay and declaw arrived in the mail. read more

It's been 3 years since my cat Valencia died. Yeah, maybe things have changed? 2 parts to this review. They told me to go home, no worries, my cat was just getting a teeth cleaning. The vet had said this was the only possibility for her sudden weight lose and hair loss. I told them she made choking sounds when eating. They did an x-ray of her body from the shoulders down only and insisted it was nothing in her throat. So I took her in and said I would wait to see how it went. They insisted I go home, saying not to worry, being all light and cheery. 40 minutes later they called me at home after I had told friends my cat was gonna be fine. They told me she had an inoperable tumor in her throat that they only found after trying to jam the tubes down her throat. So my cat died, without me there to comfort her due these kind folks pollyanna attitude. Then. 3 days later, I get an e-mail asking me to rate my recent visit at the vets! Seriously? Fast forward to late 2018. Against my first judgement I took my 2 new kittens in at 8 weeks just to start a health history and get a general wellness check as they were rescues. I arrive, wait about 20 minutes past appointment time. The lady vet comes in, shuffling, walking on the hem of her office whites. She got to the table, huffing for air, and leaned against it for almost a minute without speaking. I started the conversation by quizzically stating I was here for a general wellness check and to start a history. She did not answer. She shuffled another couple of feet and peered into the carriers open top. Another minute passes, still no word from her what-so-ever. Since she appeared to be supporting herself by leaning on the table I asked if she wanted me to take one of them out. She grumbled a yes and then for a couple minutes she just looked at them, hardly any touching, no comments. Awkward at best. she eventually said they appeared fine. I left pissed. unprofessional by the most minimal of standards. I drive the 35 minutes to a decent vet in aurora now. Save yourselves some grief, this place is not the answer for a loved pet. read more

My family has always taken their dogs to Sandwich Veterinary Hospital. Given the wonderful experiences we had, when I got a dog, Bella, 4 years ago, I also began taking her here. I cannot say enough about the service, care, and love that she gets at Sandwich Veterinary Hospital. And on top of that, the friendly service provided to me by all staff members. As soon as you walk in the door you receive smiles and kind words and their is always plenty of affection devoted to Bella. I have gone to Sandwich Veterinary Hospital for routine services and emergency services and feel like they go above and beyond in taking care of Bella and making sure that I leave feeling confident with the services they provided and the information I need to continue to take care of her. During the appointment the vet (I love Dr. Heidi Dinelli) always does an extremely thorough job and makes sure to ask me if I have any questions, etc... and provides very detailed, specific information to my questions. I feel like everyone who works at Sandwich Veterinary Hospital loves their jobs and loves animals.
