Before: Shaggy & Matted 70's Look

I don't even know where to start my story...Our Zoe Pom Pom is a true Covid Puppy and we never expected her to grow to 40 pounds of lots of hair and love. Needless to say, she grew, I tried my best to keep up with her shaggy hair, then the nails grew too fast for me to keep up and after 3 different groomers unable to deal with a loving but mouthy girl (more scary sounding than actually aggression). I was ready to figure out how to groom her myself. I am so glad that my GF referred me to Sandy Paws. From the moment I called, the lady on the phone (I wish I knew her name) she didn't hesitate at all after hearing my story and recommended I made an appointment with Jillian. I was very very cautiously optimistic about Jillian. Champs, listen make an appointment here if you have a special case. Jillian is a grooming rockstar, I shared with her all of Zoe little idiosyncrasies like don't touch my beard with your shears and voila, she gave Zoe the cutest puppy cut. Thank you Jillian, we will be back in a month for baths to continue this grooming training journey!

This was our first visit to Sandy Paws, which is closer to home for us. I really like Dr McClure and her staff. She took a lot of time to answer my questions in a thoughtful and knowledgeable way. You can tell that she loves her patients and knows her field. We've been going to Banfield for many years, but the Vets tend to rotate out or move on, and you don't see the same Vet over a long span of time. I'd forgotten how a small practice can feel so welcoming and reassuring. We're switching to Sandy Paws.

This clinic is amazing. They've held my hand as a new cat owner through every step and have been so helpful and accommodating. When there were complications with my cat's neuter (not their fault just his reaction to some meds) they gave him a free check up exam to make sure everything was okay. It's very obvious they care a ton about the animals they see. I will never go to another vet. Love them and highly recommend.

Sophia loves Dr. Mcclure but not the car ride to get there.

After the most Thorough exam my little Sophia has ever received Dr. concluded my little fussy angle needed a specialist. The thing is she had already called and consulted with him even before the visit and got his advise on our difficult case all without either experts charging an extra consult fee. It looks like precious may need to have surgery which no one is happy about but its way worse for her to be suffering or even worse, dead. After almost an hour in which some actually brought me a cup of good coffee with good crème by the way (I am a coffee addict I will admit it) she charged only $75. I am so very grateful because Dr. McClure was recommended by a friend and she was to be the 2nd opinion because after we did what the other vet recommended my cat was still suffering. Forgive the long review and skip to the bottom line. I cannot recommend Dr. McClure enough and would suggest you go here first. Many thanks Dr. McClure and you will be seeing me and my 3 cats again.

Dr. McClure and ALL staff members do an extraordinary job of making our 2 Siberian cats and owners feel most welcome. The facility is spotless, the staff take their time with our cats, and all along are educating us. We could not be more pleased.

We have a 2lb yourkie named Holly that is now 10. Dr. McClure has given Holly stellar care. You will pay a premium for service but I believe under Dr. McClure it is worth it. Dr. McClure's attitude, sincere compassion and general demeanor is what keeps me coming back.

Wade happy to be at the vet!

My 11 year old dog has a history of very aggressive MCTs, and Dr. Proulx has helped us put him on a fantastic regimen that has prevented any new tumors from appearing for 15 months, while minimizing dosages for steroids. Dr. Proulx is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and kind. He answers all of my questions thoughtfully, even when I call from home because I'm a nervous dog mom. We just took my dog to the urgent care this weekend, and it was a great experience. I called in advance to say I was coming up, and they were able to see him right away. They had great bedside manner, thoroughly explained our options for next steps, proactively provided cost transparency, and offered follow up appointments. They also helped me prioritize what was needed so I could decide what to schedule with my pcp to save some money - it's clear they aren't trying to take advantage of you! We saw Dr. Vezeleva, and I can't recommend her enough. When we were done speaking with the care staff, I asked the front desk if I could take my dog to the car to wait while they filled a prescription for me - they immediately brought him out so he could wait comfortably, and they even met me at my car to get me when everything was ready so that the end process as seamless as possible.

They had me wait in the waiting room for hours on end, and after hours of waiting on my cat(who was in critical condition), I asked for an update and they said it would be a couple more hours. When I got him back, it seemed like he was kept in his crate and not monitored. They charged me for the checkup ($180), tests and medicine, no X-rays... They did not give me the results for the test until I called and asked the next day. They also were supposed to fill a prescription that never happened. That was about $700. Again, told me it was STRESS that affects his ability to pee. We go to another vet and they immediately find crystals in his urine and know he is blocked. He also has a UTI. He could've died. Waste of money and time. Lots of other people have said their pets of died because of the care here. Sad as fuck.

They sedated him bcuz he was stressed and then handed me a dog with little to no instructions except "if his tongue turns blue get him to an emergency vet". He's a French bulldog and if anyone knows this breed, they have a really hard time coming out of sedation. Theo was OUT! He wasn't eating or drinking so I kept calling to ask questions since I was never given any after care instructions (minus the "if his tongue turns blue takes him to an emergency vet"). Monday it started, by THURSDAY when I was the only one calling them...I had enough. No one EVER called to schedule his surgeries, I called Monday evening, Tuesday, Wednesday and THURSDAY. Every time to be told by (even the doctor) they'd call me back, no one ever called. The excuses were endless. While they didn't charge me for anything except the exam, I would not recommend taking your pet here. Thursday AFTERNOON I was told they wanted to switch doctors bcuz Dr Southern (I think that's her name) was "more hands on" but I had already told the front desk around 8a-9a that's day I'd never let them touch my dog again. Clearly the communication is lacking there. Denise* also had an attitude because I asked what my bill was and in which she replied "I'm not getting into it with you." So when it comes to your pet or the bill, Denise has no time or patience for customers. Frustration doesn't even begin to cover what I felt. I found another vet to to do his surgeries...$3000 LESS than Mohnacky and they specialize in the French Bulldog breed. I won't even get into the what Mohnacky was going to charge me...I had a few vets look the estimate I was given by Mohnacky and they were all in disbelief. My quote from Mohnacky was $5575 without his teeth cleaning (another $487 on top of $5575). I paid $3025 for neuter, removal of bladder stones, teeth cleaning and teeth extractions and labs at a vet in San Diego. The new vet also didn't charge me for X-rays since Mohnacky wasn't sharing my dogs medical record with them and they said it was not mine or my dogs fault. I had to call Mohnacky to finally ask for his records, I was put on hold and then hung up on. When I called again I told them I couldn't hold and the girl knew exactly who I was without me even saying a word, with a sigh she said "this is for Theo?" I got the email; they did not email the new vet as they said they would. Mohnacky also changes vets so much, my dog has seen Dr. Saaco, Dr. Yaeger, Dr Bulliard, another at vista I don't remember his name and then Dr. George in a span of 2yrs. I asked the front desk if they rotated doctors through their facilities, she said no. Dr Saaco has been the only one I've liked but she is no longer there and has her own practice in San Marcos. A LOT of red flags! I personally will ever take another pet here or any other Mohnacky in North County. I wouldn't allow them to change my goldfish's water honestly.
