Next day after the doctor's, first day of meds
    Princesa L.

Hector started peeing in the house A LOT when he is house broken. It was going on 2 weeks & my lack of dog knowledge was very clear. Telling my mom & bf's mom, they figured he had a medical condition. My mom googled vets & I started making phone calls around 10pm on 1/28/22. Proud to me making my calls, my mom talked to a helpful person at a vet place who agreed he had an UTI. With my phone calls, I take to someone in San Marcos, but they were emergency only and with a 4 hr wait which would put us at 2am to be there. The girl said she goes to Thrive in Escondido, so I checked them out. Upon checking out Thrive, they also listed other vets which had All Pets Hospital located in Encinitas. I called All Pets Hospital and they returned my call at 9am saying they had an opening at 2pm. I immediately took it because I wanted to make sure Hector got treated ASAP. The staff are so nice! Marney who is the one who called me and upon meeting her, she's is just so nice & fun. The vet technologist Courtney is great and fun and really liked Hector. The doctor, Dr. Lopez is so nice & did due diligence for Hector. During the temperature check, Hector peed & used that pee for diagnosing instead of waiting for him to go. Upon results, it was confirmed he had an UTI. Very quick to prescribe medication & you get to take it the same. The next day, they even sent a text to check on him. We have found a new doctor! I totally recommend them & not only are they caring & nice, they know what they're doing.

Dear Encinitas Animal Hospital Management,…read more I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the lack of basic professional courtesy I have repeatedly experienced at Encinitas Animal Hospital. I have been bringing my dog to your hospital for several years, and I know many of the staff members and veterinarians by sight. Yet I cannot recall being greeted or addressed by name. When I enter the facility, staff members often look at me and then return to their computer screens. I am usually simply instructed to weigh my dog before she is taken for a vaccine, lab test, or other procedure. I understand that a veterinary hospital is a busy workplace, but being busy does not prevent someone from acknowledging a client. A simple "Good morning," "Hello," or using a client's name takes only a few seconds and is basic professional etiquette. The same applies to my interactions with the veterinarians. I consistently address the veterinarian as "Dr." out of respect for their professional title, yet I cannot recall a veterinarian addressing me by name in return. I work in an environment where professional etiquette is expected. I am also in my sixties and admittedly somewhat old-school when it comes to courtesy: I was taught to acknowledge people, whether young or old, and to show respect first. I do not expect special treatment, but I do expect basic acknowledgment and mutual respect. Respect is not a one-way street. When a client has trusted a veterinary practice with the care of their animal for years, the relationship should not feel purely transactional. After experiencing this repeatedly over several years, I believe management should be aware of it. Good veterinary care is important, but professionalism also includes how clients are acknowledged, communicated with, and treated. I hope you will take this feedback into consideration.

genuinely cannot say enough good things about Dr. Campbell and the entire team at VEG…read more Our dog, Remi, ended up needing emergency abdominal surgery for an intestinal obstruction, and it was an incredibly stressful and emotional experience. From the moment we arrived until we left, the care we received was exceptional. Dr. Campbell was incredible. I had a lot of questions and concerns, and not once did she make me feel rushed, dismissed, or like I was being difficult. She would sit down with me, explain what she was seeing, what our options were, and why she was recommending what she was recommending. She was patient, thorough, articulate, and confident without ever being condescending. I was having an extremely difficult time with the decision to put Remi through surgery, and she gave me the information I needed without ever pressuring me. I remember telling my wife that if Remi had to have surgery, I was incredibly grateful Dr. Campbell was the one taking care of her. The surgery went extremely well. Dr. Campbell found and removed the obstruction, and thankfully Remi's intestines were healthy. Afterward, she took the time to explain what she found, how Remi did, what to expect during recovery, and even discussed an unrelated finding so we could monitor it in the future. There are people who are technically excellent at what they do, and there are people who are excellent at taking care of the human being on the other side of the exam table. Dr. Campbell is both. Benji was also incredible. His focus was on making sure I was okay during an extremely difficult night. He checked on me constantly, went out of his way to ask if there was anything he could do, and always seemed to show up at the right time with a positive attitude and some reassurance. His kindness was genuine, and those small gestures made a much bigger difference than he probably realizes. Theresa took amazing care of Remi after surgery. She was incredibly patient, kind, and sweet with her. It was obvious that Remi was with someone who genuinely cared about her comfort and recovery. Theresa patiently answered all of our questions, kept us informed, and gave us a lot of peace of mind. Natalie was fantastic as well. She carefully went through the estimates with me and made sure everything was clearly explained. While I was away, she even took photos of Remi and sent them to me so I could see that she was doing okay. At the end, Natalie found a roughly $200 credit that was owed back to us and made sure it was refunded. After such a significant and unexpected veterinary bill, that level of transparency gave me a lot of confidence that Remi's care was truly the priority, not simply maximizing the bill. I also want to recognize everyone whose names I unfortunately didn't get. Especially in the beginning, I was so worried about Remi that remembering names was about the last thing on my mind. The surgical team was amazing. They kept me informed every step of the way, explained what was happening, what was normal, what to expect, and how Remi was doing. After Remi came out of surgery, they did everything they could to reassure me and make me feel better--even while immediately preparing for another surgery. Their compassion during what was obviously an incredibly busy night meant a lot. There was also a nurse who cared for Remi after surgery whose name I unfortunately didn't get. She was incredible. I had a lot of questions, and she patiently answered every one of them. She made sure Remi was constantly checked on and did everything she could to keep her comfortable while she recovered. I wish I had gotten everyone's names because there are more people who deserve to be recognized individually. Every person we encountered, from start to finish, treated Remi and our family with kindness and compassion. This was one of the hardest experiences I've had with Remi, but I never once felt like we were going through it alone. I trusted this team with a member of my family, and I would do so again without hesitation. Thank you to Dr. Campbell and everyone at VEG for taking such incredible care of our girl--and for taking care of us along the way.

She addressed his abscess, which had burst, causing blood and pus to flow down his chest area. The staff were professional, friendly and kind. I appreciated that they were attentive not only to the patient, but also to parents and other dogs present for emotional support. (I brought along Skyler's sister Scarlet who is a 2 year old dachshund mix.) They generously offered water and snacks to parents in addition to a blanket for Scarlet after noticing she was cold. In total, the visit took 3 hours, since Sky needed to be sedated. We returned 3 days after to remove his drain, which was done gently and at no extra charge. There was no problem submitting invoices to pet insurance, and the reimbursement was even expedited, since the insurance company found zero issues with the paperwork. Thank you

He would stress out so much. The doctor kept telling me to put him down because of it. She was very pushy about it. She said I was being a horrible person to keep him alive. Well I went to a different place that was able to save his life at a reasonable price. They found his heart was the problem, was the reason he was building up water fluid in his belly, and pooping blood. He got meds and he lived another year and a half. It was better than having him put to sleep that day. I was crying, visibly upset. He was my baby. I knew my dog, I told her he is like that. He gets so nervous he has a nervous reaction and she said no that's not normal. He must have neurological problems. I think doctors should consider the opinion of the pet parent who knows their dogs best. I am so upset at the prices the American vets charge pet parents specially during this hard struggling economy. Most have been taken over by for profit systems and can care less for the pets it's such a shame. Not sure if this one has but the prices that are astronomical from most makes me believe so.

On my last visit I brought Sage in because her regular flea medication had stopped working and she needed a worm pill and an antibiotic since she got infected. The initial estimate was about $800 but I did not do the tests they wanted so I paid a little less. Fast forward to this morning when my Chewy Autoship informed me that "Your veterinary clinic, Santa Fe Animal Clinic - CA, has opted not to support online prescription approvals through Chewy". So on the day before Thanksgiving I now have one additional errand of running to their office, picking up the prescription and mailing it in. To make things worse, they are holding my cat Pepper Jack's flea prescription hostage because he is healthy and has not seen the vet recently. I feel like they are using the prescriptions as leverage to force people to make unnecessary appointments and that they know some people will just pay for the flea medication when they arrive at the clinic out of convenience. I will not support a business that resort to withholding medications for my pets to get more of my money. I declined to schedule an appointment and am picking a new vet that cares for my fur babies. I asked her how many customers they have lost due to this policy she replied "I am not taking a tally".
