Then lied about another that had just sold the week before saying it sold before christmas when I just there and saw it. She lied about the date of birth saying she has no way to know the hatch date when others gave me the hatch date. If she really was the manager she lost a sale and i found one at pet palace for have the price same color and just as loving and young. You go wrong woth this Petshop. My fried Brian recommended I visit. Because of the customer service abs he also buys all his fish stuff here. They did not disappoint. I went in with my son to purchase our first family pet. Picked up a 32 gallon Fluval tank woth live plants and rocks and a couple of starter fish. The nice girl that helped us was super nice and she pointed us in the right direction. Even helping us pick out everything we needed for the tank. They will forever have my business. I have since gone back a couple of times and the service has not changed. Everyone is super friendly and very helpful. They are more than happy to help you with whatever you need. Be very careful when you buy saltwater fish from this place. We bought a Naso Tang that was riddled with parasites and velvet. Once of the workers told us not to acclimate the fish when we got home. He said to just dump it in the tank. Should have walked away when he said that. We had the Naso in our tank for 2 days before we returned it. Damage had already been done though. We lost about $2K in fish because we didn't QT their fish. Still struggling with the fallout and tear eating our DT with cupramine. read more

I am super happy with this Pet Shop, not only was Jewel exceptional helpful to myself and my daughters first purchase of a baby Guinea Pig, but, Nick was helpful with taking on our very own pet Bearded Dragon, to ensure she makes it into a proper home! The exchange was very easy, and our baby guinea pig was boxed up with her favorite tube and we were given free hay for our purchase. We have come in here several times and every single time this pet store has been clean, and well maintained. The staff is always helpful, and considerate of their guests. Had been looking for 2 calico Oranda goldfish to add to my already established 75 gallon tank. Zach was super nice over the phone and ordered these fish for me. When they came in I was so excited to go pick them up. Brought them home and they both had ick. Now all of my goldfish are sick. I'm treating the tank but it's just upsetting. These 2 Calico Orandas were the most expensive fish that I have bought for my tank at $40 for both so I would think at that price point I would be getting healthy fish not a ticking time bomb. This is a shop that specializes in tropical fishes. Two thirds of the store is lined with fresh and salt water tanks. Though I am not familiar with fishes, but this is one of the larger selections I have seen in the local pet shops. The shop also has a good variety of birds both large and small. I saw a large macaw, a couple of green cheeked conures, a couple of love birds and parakeets. I still did not find what I want (a heated perch), but it was good to know this store does carry a good variety of bird supplies. The customer service is friendly and helpful, too. read more

The store is clean beyond clean and the people who work with the aquariums know how to keep their fish healthy. I appreciate the care and concern that the staff shows when you purchase animals from them. I've never once had a problem with any fish I've got there and appreciate the 10% discount when you buy more than 5 of a schooling fish. Also, they take care of their military customers and that is much appreciated. I also grew up near the Preston/Outerloop area and enjoyed going to Noah's Ark Pets to see the Goffin Cockatoo named Peaches. Noah's Ark closed due to the owner retiring, but Peaches lives on at Sandy's and still talks to the customers. We have birds as well and they have everything you need. read more

Best place for salt water aquarium keepers. They have plenty of stock available at any given time. Prices are commensurate with other similar stores. They have a special sale day, Monday's, for fish keepers. They will also do free water tests. They have lots of other animals, but I'm a fish guy, so I don't spend much time in those areas. They are very knowledgeable on aquatic life. My only complaint is that some of the fish staff can be very condescending at times and assume everyone is a novice without checking this out first. This is one of the cleanest petshops in town. They definitely cater to the aquarium market. They have a great variety of equipment and livestock. Including the best Marine selection in the city. The thing is do your research before going in and set yourself a budget. The employees do know their stuff, but will do an interrogation it seems at times and almost degrading you as if you dont know what you are talking about, no matter your experience. Also they will try to upsell you on everything, or get you to buy unneccesary equipment or chemicals. It seems that if there is any problems with your tank their answer is chemicals instead of natural remedies that most times are available. I sent someone in to buy a new pump for their sump and a few supplies... warned them ahead of time not to buy the extra stuff they would suggest because it wasnt needed. They were able to upsell over $700 in equipment and convincingly get this person to second guess the entire set-up we had discussed. He just wanted a basic tank and setup but can now run a full reef if he wanted. The equipment is nice, but way more than he needed for what he wanted. read more

Ridiculously overpriced, unimpressive fish. I live very close to this place, but have decided I will definitely not be coming here anymore. Prepare to be heavily interrogated by the older heavy-set guy with the beard every time you plan on purchasing any fish. I've been keeping aquariums since I was 10 (12 years), and don't need a lecture every time I try to purchase a sub $10 decorative fish. It's so funny hearing this guy and the other employees try to preach proper fishkeeping, when you can look around and see tanks lined with dead fish & plagued by ich. Also, don't try to sell me a "special" $40 immediate tank cycling liquid you have in the back, rather than let me purchase $15 worth of starter fish to cycle the tank. The guy literally would not let me buy the fish without his "special" liquid. If you're looking for fish, try Pet's Palace on Goldsmith Ln, Southside Pets, or even Feeders Supply. As for pet supplies, prepare to pay at least 20% more for anything, as opposed to the other shops mentioned. read more

The staff really cares about the animals, one of the staff members actually breeds the rabbits they sell. The only thing that bothers me is that they sell puppies and I'd rather see people rescue them, but I can't make that decision for other people and I know the puppies are well cared for at Sandy's.
