This is the smallest dance studio we have danced with, but its size is perfect, and the owner (Wendy Naylor) is very hands on with all aspects of the studio and very personable with girls and parents, which translates into more personal attention. This is particularly important when you begin to reach the 'tweens age (between 8-13), when girls become even more self-conscious and their self-esteem tends to plummet. There is the opportunity to be in an active company for the more advanced girls and dance camps offered in the summer for those who wish to give dance or the studio a try. One thing we liked is the Christmas recital held at Campbell University in December. It was a mini-show which lasted only about an hour, but gave the girls great experience mid-year performing onstage and in front of a live audience, something particularly helpful for young dancers. We were able to purchase a very good video of the Christmas recital produced in mass locally by a group of the parents for $5 each--sooo much easier than trying to video the recital ourselves too! Main Street offers dance leotards, tights and shoes, as well as snacks & water bottles, all on site for purchase at very reasonable prices, which is very convenient. And this year, our monthly tuition included the costs of our costumes for two dance recitals -- a Christmas recital and the Spring recital. This is VERY helpful to parents to spread the cost out over the year instead of having to make a down payment in the fall and a final costume payment in January, right after Christmas expenses, as we always have had to do at our other dance studios. There are two studio classrooms at Main Street Dance. The only downfall we've found with Main Street is that the facility is somewhat small, particularly one of the classrooms. It can be frustrating for the girls when there are a lot of girls in a class. Oh, one thing that is also very convenient. Wendy and Main Street have been around a while and are known by many of the other area dancers. Recently, when we had to purchase a pair of jazz shoes for my oldest daughter, we realized she didn't have her tights for dance photos. The owner of Releve, a dance shop in Holly Springs, picked up the phone, called Wendy, and had everything worked out for us in less than 3 minutes! This "network" of support for supplies is particularly helpful and convenient--and better than anything we ever had in the larger cities we danced in! We highly recommend Main Street! If you stop by for more information, tell them Alice H. sent you!

Words can hardly begin to express the experience I've had with this dance studio. My daughter has…read moredanced there for two years. The first year was somewhat okay and I chose to stick around to keep her around a bigger class size as her other dance studio she went to previously only had like 5 other kids. This year will be her last for sure. They have proven this year the dollar is worth way more than the experience if you go here prepare to be penny pinched for everything from recital fees, costumes, pictures and anything else that is tied to them. My daughter just about missed her recital today. And let them tell it it's my fault for not being active in a group chat they had going on about the recital. Let me be clear though that I went once a week for dance practice and was there the day before for rehearsal when I asked IN PERSON, FACE TO FACE when my daughter needed to be there. I was told the wrong time! The only reason I made it in time for her to dance was because my friend who happened to be there messaged me. I guess the lady I pay $10 to help get her ready didn't notice one kid was missing. So mind you I paid hundreds of dollars for practice I paid hundreds more for the costume all for them to not even be able to reach out when she wasn't there at the designated time for dancers ! I reached out to Dana who placed blame on me for not being apart of this chat. However the past MONTHS I wasn't apart of this chat so what made her think today would be any different only she could know, her excuse is that there are so many girls and classes it's "confusing" well for all the money they make you'd think they would make better use of extra help so that the girls actually get the experience and attention that is paid for! Let's just throw in the fact they were closed for MONTHS doing repairs and then threw in an extra 15 minutes of course once they were up and running to be sure to get the money they missed. I mean I can't really tell it helped as far as the dancing I saw. Better luck to anyone else who takes a chance with them!
