Well on a vacation island, you wouldn't expect some reliable enough that U can call at 2pm and expect tem to show up on time at 4am for (early!) pickup to the airport. But that's what you get with these guys. There are not many ways off the island and not many reviews on yelp, but I'll add my voice. Bob answered the phone and then picked ® up. Call that service. They seem s super busy and he was great being there and then we got another group so make sure to leave some time. It's about 45 minutes to RSI and you have to go over the bridge Super reasonable and the van was big and clean and I like riding shotgun anyway. Highly recommend this service! Little did I know that Lyft does not provide pickup service on Sanibel and I found out the hard way. I booked a very early Lyft (a day in advance) to get my niece to the airport...and got all the usual confirmation texts the day before and even an hour before the car was due to arrive.... just 10 minutes before the car was due I got a text saying they were unable to complete my service. WHAT?!?!? By the time I saw that text - was helping my niece take her luggage down so she'd be ready when the car arrived - it was time for her to be leaving. We didn't have a rental car so I immediately began calling the taxi services on the island to find someone close by. Only 3 were open 24H and neither of the first two would help. When I reached the 3rd and last service I was relieved to hear that she'd be there in 10-15 minutes. She got out of bed and saved the day! In the process, we learned that it happens all the time - people think they have a Lyft or Uber only to find out they are stranded. Skip Lyft and Uber and just use the Sanibel Double D to book your ride to/from the airport and around the islands. Great service and they didn't rip us off on pricing even though we were desperate. While I was disappointed that our hotel didn't provide shuttle service, I did appreciate the fact that they suggested a few shuttle options. After making a few calls, I discovered that Sanibel DD was the most reasonable. Only $65 for 5 of us from the Fort Myers airport to our hotel on Sanibel Island. The business is run by Joel and Sandi, whom are both quite pleasant. Sandi was kind enough to offer to make a pit stop at a Publix on Fort Myers Beach so we didn't have to pay the sky high prices on the island. She didn't charge us any extra for the stop, but we made sure to tip extra. =) We used "the DD" many times throughout our trip, as we didn't rent a car. They always arrived in a timely manner & we felt their prices were really reasonable. read more

I've used Double D twice in the last two months for an airport pickup at 0500. The first time my flight was 90 minutes late and our driver was ready and waiting. The second time we were half an hour early and he was ready and waiting again. Reliable service that I'll use again! read more

This operation has always been both reliable and a pleasure to use for my whole family. More than once they have been there for a very last minute airport run, just when we needed them most. Sandy is as kind and helpful as can be and is highly knowledgeable about the island and its unique traffic patterns. She and her team have always been terrific. Left in the Dark I have used Double D at least 5 times over the last year without issue- except for this morning. After confirming trip to airport at 330am the day before, the driver arrived at the house promptly at 330am. I received a call at 332am that he was in the driveway. I get to my driveway at 335am and the driver is gone. I called the driver and his response was that he decided that his 430am customer was more important than me. He left me to figure out how to get to the airport at 0-dark 400am for my flight. Are you kidding me?! My experiences in the past have been excellent but this customer experience will lead me to alternative choices for transportation to/from Sanibel. read more

Sanibel is very friendly to biking but that is not always an option for dining out. On our second trip down to the island we knew we wanted to visit one dining place that was fairly far out and we wanted to be able to drink and dance there without worry about how we were going to get home. I worried that there was nothing on the island that would accommodate transportation for a night out. It is difficult to trust even that a taxi that takes you somewhere will be available to take you back. I called Sanibel Double D and they seemed to be reliable. As it turned out they were very reliable, even though they seem pretty small. I don't think the market for taxis is large, but I hope that these guys make a living because the next time I am there, I would like to again book them for the night out when I don't want to have to stay sober to drive home. read more

I called at 11 to schedule a 4:45 pickup for the airport. At 4:55 I called and asked where my driver was. They located my driver and then she called me at 5:05. She stated she was running 5 minutes and I informed her she was 20 minutes late already. She finally arrived at 5:10. Did not great me, apologize or say anything to me. I had to ask her to open the trunk so I could load my luggage into the car. She did not offer to assist or even get out of the drivers seat. Extremely rude and unprofessional. We used the same service the night before with a male driver with no issues. He was courteous and on time. That is why I booked with this company. However, when you are taking people to the airport being on time is extremely important. Luckily I built in extra time for security lines so I was able to make my flight but had we hit traffic or any other issues I would have missed my flight. The rude nature of the driver and the fact that she did not call me to tell me she was going to be 20 minutes late and I had to call is extremely unprofessional. I would use for island service but not the airport. It's too risky. read more

I called to book a cab at 4:15 pm and the dispatcher assured me she herself would pick us up at 7:15pm for a ride to Mad Hatters in Captiva. When no cab had arrived or called by 7:17pm, I called Double D, and another dispatcher professed to know nothing about my cab, and questioned why I was concerned, since his colleague, whomever that was, was then only two minutes late. I asked him to check on our cab and he said he would, but only if I got a better attitude. Surprisingly, his suggestion did not improve my attitude, I hung up on him, and we drove ourselves to the restaurant. Twenty minutes later another person called to ask if we had been able to get a ride. I asked her to identify the dispatcher I had spoken to earlier, so I could complain about his attitude, but she refused. When I call for a cab to get me to a dinner reservation, I need reliable service, not an employee who takes offense at my attitude, and not someone who calls twenty minutes late to check on my well being. I will not use this company again. read more
