Cool little place with a lot of taps, I would say probably one of the few craft beer spots in BGC…read more Cool location in Forbestown, BGC, Manila. I just google craft beer BGC and came upon this place, so we walked over from our hotel Shangri La The Fort. We went during the day and the area was pretty empty. I didn't realize till we went to the area on another evening that it is a lively, happening, and busy place at night, with the other bars and restaurants for nightlife. Again very cool.
Anyway it is small, the whole thing open to the outside, feels like someone opened a garage door and you walked in, prob what it is.
The vibe/decor is clearly a simple craft beer bar, no more no less, which is great, with a bar, few tables including a long high top table along the wall we sat at. Other than the bartender there was one other person there I assume was also an employee.
There were 25 taps, mostly local Philippine beers. I forget the exact price but the flight of SIX beers was less than $10. they were smallish samples though. A couple taps were kicked and we had to wait to replace but they were fine. Beer wasn't ice cold, and it was hot out. But all were good. I had:
Green Lava DIPA 8% (Engkanto)
Berry Red fruit ale 4.2% (Craft Revolt)
Manila Hipster FIPA (fruit ipa, i asked) 8% (Craft Revolt)
Shut Up NEIPA 5.3% (Craft Revolt)
Urquell pilsner 4% (Czech Republic, yes also apparently a local Phillipine brewery)
Flame Out NEIPA 6.6% (Craft Revolt)
looking back at the menu I guess I should have tried other beers from other breweries like Nipa and Bulul which they had. But nice to see the craft beer industry in the Philippines growing.
The winner was Green Lava DIPA from Engkanto, which I've had before.
They had some food as well.
Sample sizes were small, but yes you get 6 in a flight, and again not super cold, but I really liked this place, and plan to come back every time I visit the Philippines.
