Burrito Where is the meat? Just full of rice.
    Tina F.

The burritos are good, however, I wish they had more meat not just packed with rice. Lately, the burritos I get have less and less meat. Kinda disappointed with this.

The bone in my chicken burrito:(

The service was good . Easy to order and food comes quickly . Clean restaurant! Issue was a had a good size bone in my chicken burrito :(

Chicken Quesadilla w Side Guacamole and two salsa from salsa bar

The space and decor is fun. They play country music. The quesadilla w their chicken was tasty. The chips tasted a little stale and the guacamole didn't have much flavor. I did like their salsa bar. Next time I will have their quarter chicken plate, which looked great. The portions are huge and Cld have been shared by two people

The SB Chicken Ranch is popular among locals. As someone not originally from this area, I don't see the attraction. Perhaps childhood memories? All I can hear is the little boy's voice on their news hour commercial stating "it's simply theee best!" I use to get the tri tip here but always thought it didn't have that much flavor compared to other Santa Maria style grilled meat spots in town. I then tried their chicken which is often too dry for my liking and often more white meat than my preference of dark meat. Now what I do go to "the Ranch" for is their quesadilla. They are three slices of a monster-sized flour tortilla stuffed with lots of melted, orange cheese. You can go to their salsa bar and help yourself to an original, asada or pico de gallo--plus fermented onions or curtido of jalapeños and carrots. I wish they had a quesadilla meal similar to the kid's meal with an adult quesadilla with a side of rice and beans. Nonetheless, I have found what I do enjoy here for down the road.

First time at Chicken Ranch. Girl at the register was not friendly; barely spoke to us but she was full of conversation when her co worker was there. Food was ok; flavorful but not really appetizing. The tri tip meat was pretty tough/dry. Maybe my fault for getting tri tip at a place with chicken in the name? Who knows, but a hard pass for a return trip.

When I'm in the area, I will typically have lunch here with co-workers. Love the atmosphere, the basic menu and the fact that the menu is fairly Healthy. The chicken plates are my favorite. If your into tri tip than you will like the tri tip plate option as well. I'm pretty picky when it comes to my tri tip and this happens when your used to Santa Maria style. The tri tip here is decent but not my favorite. The chicken plates come in 1/4, 1/2 and full or you can mix and match with tri tip. You get a choice of sides (which are pretty small but filling). Tortillas, chips, beans, rice.... They also have a good salsa bar (and I always take a small cup home ). Chicken is tasty, sides are good (but nothing amazing ) it's just an overall good place to eat. Staff were not overly friendly or helpful which is fine but don't expect a good tip if your not friendly and just taking my order from the counter.

It wasn't as I great as I thought it would be. Limited menu & salsa was all spicy. Some of us prefer mild salsa. Thank you

Simple basic fire grilled chicken and tri-tip; served with pinto beans, rice and tortillas. Oh, and the salsa bar is good also.

Wafer thin Tri tip, game hen sized legs and thighs, you must request salsa for take out or you get home with no salsa. I feel cheated.

The line always moves fast and the food comes out quickly too. What compelled me to write this review was because I had a delicious pescado a la diabla, which was a daily special. The fish was a huge portion -- a whole filet with a delicious spicy sauce, perfectly cooked and flaky. The rice and beans are always great, perfectly seasoned and cooked. I also had a passionfruit margarita which was big and well balanced. The salsa bar is very good; the habanero salsa is really tasty but their old version without cream was one of the best salsa I ever had and I'm so sad they don't offer it anymore. It was legitimately spicy. I always love coming here with my friends after a movie so we can discuss the flick over some great mexican food.

You order and pay at the register, grab a number, seat yourself, and your food (along with complimentary chips) is brought to your table. There were plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options. Everything else is self-serve, including drinks and salsa/toppings. Their salsa bar had a great variety and I honestly loved every salsa I tried! You can't go wrong with whatever you choose, but I recommend the avocado salsa. My friend and I swapped a taco from each of our plates, so I was able to try their tacos al pastor and tacos del mar with halibut. The al pastor was particularly flavorful and well marinated, and to my surprise, I enjoyed the pineapple bits in the taco. The halibut tasted fresh and the chipotle sauce on top paired nicely. I also love a good side of rice and beans and I can't even put my finger on it, but it was just so tasty. It got pretty busy during the dinner rush and I was seated right along the order line, but nothing too disruptive to our dining experience. Overall, the food was solid, the staff was friendly, the service was quick, and the vibes were upscale-casual and lively.

The spot was empty but we figured it was probably due to the holidays. We got chips and salsa then looked at the menu. However, I gave it a chance... but we were waiting for over 10-20 min at this point waiting for the waitress to come by. We were confused given the spot was empty, she couldn't be that busy. My husband went in and saw her talking to somebody else. Guess we were forgotten. My husband got the chimichanga to go which came with rice and beans on the side. Overall a decent meal, it wasn't much food. His rice and beans were OK, I got Mexican food elsewhere for cheaper and the rice/beans tasted much better.
