Going on a sunset boat cruise!!!!!
    Valerie Deanna C.

I just can't go back to life before this. After this experience, Sunset cruises are part of my life forever. Forever-ever. So what, sharks?! So what, killer whales?! I don't care, tsunamis!!! SUNSET CRUISES FOR LIFE. RIDE OR DIE. Yelp, I had an absolute blast. The patrons were splendid people; the captain and his assistant were lovely; The directions on the website were spot-on; the coastline from the boat was breathtaking; the sunset was out of this world. Out of all of the bad in life, this experience was truly a purely good, purely beautiful one. My advice: 1.) try doing the cruise during the week. I have a feeling they might be packed on weekends. 2.) Follow your GPS to the Harbor...but switch over to the website step-by-step directions once you enter the harbor. You can't miss this place whatsoever. The directions are perfect. 3.) DO NOT EAT BEFORE. EAT AFTERWARDS. Don't chance motions sickness. 4.) Dress warm, even during the summer! Bring gloves cause your hands will freeze! 5.) Remember to Tip the lovely staff for the wonderful evening you **will indeed*** have

tl,dr: We went kayaking. Awesome, fun experience! Tips: . Use sunblock, cuz the price is for 2 sunny hours. . Bring a GoPro helm, cuz your hands will be too busy to capture footage. . Go train your rowing muscles beforehand, to make the most of your exp. Likes: + Very polite, friendly, informative, safety-oriented, and helpful staff! + They are very thorough with the safety orientation. + Thankfully the staff made sure to mention that as you get closer to the far peninsula, the waves get rougher. We stayed p safe behind that region. + Life vests are provided. + Their kayak dock has a nifty (un)loading structure. Use your paddle to pull/push yourself off/onto the kayak dock. [see photo] + We encountered many pelicans and seals! We were even lucky enough to meet a playful curious seal. + You'll likely encounter other friendly paddlers, some even bringing along their doggos. + They have convenient restrooms. + We didn't wanna bring our important baggage along the ride, but thankfully the staff were willing to safely hold onto all our belongings. Non-likes: - They didn't have a cheaper option for just 1hr play. The pricing (~$25/person) is set for 2hr, so we played for 2hr cuz we wanted to make the most of our money, yet we had many places to go that day. At first I did ask if there's a 1hr option, the guy said Yes. I thought that meant it'd be half price; turns out he meant we could quit kayaking after just 1hr, but the price we pay is still for $2 hr. haha yike. - The parking to get here is a slight nuisance, particularly if you're coming from the 101 South (LA). Have to enter the P lot all the way down via Harbor Way, then maneuver back up. If you're also planning to tour Stearns Wharf, may as well seek free street parking along W Cabrillo Blvd, or just park on Stearns Wharf and walk over. - Their restrooms don't have paper towels.

This place is awesome! Whether you're renting a kayak for a fun day out on the water or scheduling a boat tour for an event, they have anything water related you could want to do. They have a snack shack right across from their office with several yummy snacks and drinks to choose from as well as fresh gelato! My family and I went on a boat tour for my Dad's birthday and it was so relaxing. Our captain, Chris, was so calm, made great conversation, and didn't mind the silence either. It was only us on the boat, which made for a much more relaxing trip. I recommend the 2 hour trip if you're looking for this service. Overall great and I would 100% go back!

Booked a spot on a waterfront cruise for my friend's birthday. This was my first time on the Double Dolphin, and I had a really nice time. It was a 1 hour cruise and there were less than 10 people on the boat including us four. The boat can accommodate around 60 people I think? Our captains were super friendly and played some great tunes. There were snacks and drinks for purchase, too. On the way out of the harbor we stopped by the buoy to check out the seals.

My wife and I took up the Sunset Cruise package deal that came with our hotel booking. We were celebrating our honeymoon so it only makes sense to take up the deal. We got to the place early like it said to on our RSVP card but they didn't start boarding until like 10 minutes before sailing off. Bring a jacket because it will get cold out there and also find a good seat depending if there a lot of people. We sat near the back so we were next to the bar and had a great view. The crew (driver and bartender) were amazing and came to talk to us during the ride. We were also able to see some dolphins during the tour so that was nice. It was a good 2 hour cruise around the coast.

Santa Barbara Sailing Center's Public Coastal Cruise (2 hours) on the Double Dolphin charter for a friend's birthday was an amazing experience! The maximum passengers that can sign up per trip is 49 and we were a large percentage of the passengers, however since it was open to the public, there were other passengers on board as well. It was $45 per person which I found reasonable, but was bummed to find out after the fact that there was a college student price ($25). Upon boarding the boat, the captain checked our names off a list and after providing a few instructions, we set sail. The Double Dolphin is comfortable with tons of seating and standing areas. There is covered, shaded seating if you get too cold from the wind, and then plenty of cozy seating with cushions on the lower deck, and then two levels of seating on the upper deck. There are also two netting seating areas at the front of the boat. The staff on board were extremely friendly and accommodating to the passengers; they also provided blankets (it was very windy!). There is a bar on board which serves light snacks (bagged chips, cookies, etc.), beer, wine, and champagne, and other non-alcoholic beverages. Two friends and I ordered a bottle of champagne to share which was perfect. For the first hour, we were sailing out and headed south west. The next thirty minutes we just floated in place and then the last thirty minutes we headed back to the harbor. They had a great playlist (which you can follow on Spotify) which was relaxing and really set good vibes. SB Sailing offers a variety of public and private charters, and they have a 1-hour public Harbor Cruise which has a 2 for 1 Axxess 2019 deal. This is a great activity to bring out-of-town guests so that will probably be the next time I go.

He called me the day before and first asked if we expected to get married (a fair question considering a surprise out at sea might be dangerous, lol). He asked if there was any music to put on for our ride - classic rock was a great choice. We arranged to meet at 6 PM and play off the sunset cruise as a birthday surprise as opposed to a proposal - she bought it completely. We got lucky and were able to see a mother whale and calf traveling north for the first 30 minutes of the trip. It was fun hearing Spencer communicate with the other vessels on the radio to let them know there was a whale nearby. Spencer coordinated to where about 45 minutes in as we headed back south to the harbor (and away from other boats) to go up to the front of the boat for the big moment. He used his own phone to take photos and video of the moment I proposed (afterwards airdropping them to my phone which was very considerate). The timing was great, but even afterwards Spencer was hanging off the sail and getting the wildest angles of us as a newly engaged couple - a true testament of how considerate and beyond words he was to make this moment special. He kindly opened champagne and poured us a couple glasses to celebrate as we nestled in near the harbor and enjoyed the moment - accompanied by dolphins and a beautiful sunset. I am without words for how perfect this day was. Spencer was the best captain and truly a gem of a human for making this proposal special. He truly made everything work perfectly. I guarantee we will be back for another boat ride with him. Thanks a million, Spencer!

As it turns out, all of the harbor seals, and sealions have names. We befriended one named Steve, he is much better at swimming than I am. He also taught me secret techniques to paddling. We had a fun ferry ride to the islands and even got to slow down to watch a large Sunfish (Mola Mola) snacking on some jellies. I recommend getting in line early to secure the best view seating on the ferry. Our kayak guides, Chuck and Adam, were exceptional--knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely passionate about what they do. They made the entire trip both fun and informative, while ensuring we always felt safe and well cared for. We were fortunate to have perfect weather and warm water, which allowed us to explore all seven sea caves--many of which are inaccessible during high tide or rougher conditions. It made the experience even more special. Having lived in Santa Barbara for 22 years, this was my first time visiting the islands, and it was truly unforgettable. The pristine landscapes, abundant sea life, and even spotting several tiny island foxes while enjoying our picnic lunch, made it an unforgettable adventure. We can't wait to do it again--highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique and exceptional experience!
