You walk in and everything looks soooo good! The place looks clean and you barely get a welcome. I bought 6 different kinds of sweet breads my total was $16! I thought to myself, ok this pan dulce has got to be that good! NOPE! The bread was old, soggy from the bottom and the rest was dry and hard! How is pan dulce soggy? Everything tasted the same, like sugar that's it. The concha didn't taste like a concha and it was hard and dry. The donuts were hard and greasy when I got home. I'm not sure how to rate this business. The baked goods looked appealing but they didn't have much flavor. However, since I didn't know what they were called or made of I didn't know what to expect. None of the staff spoke enough English to help me and I don't speak enough Spanish. It's self service and very reasonable. read more

stay away! horrible service! we had pre-ordered this cake in adance! specifically asked for only strawberries on it! we pick it up today and bot one strawberry on this cake! they put cherries and kiwi! spoke to the cashier and she was useless. stating no manager is in the store & that she doesnt know what to tell me!? i had to tell her multiple times to call someone because this was not the cake i had ordered and payed for in advance! she spoke to the "manager" on the phone and they only offered a $5 refund or to leave the cake & receive a full refund. what type of customer service is that?! i needed the cake for a family gather in literally 1hr! horrible horrible horrible! this is the first and last time ordering from this place! First of all the service is so so friendly! The ladies behind the counter seem so happy to be working and eager to serve their customers. The food was fresh and well prepared, although I only had some eggs with avocado, they have a great variety of Mexican tortas(sandwiches), tacos, steak dishes, etc, generous portions and great prices. They also have a large assortment of pastries, cakes and sweet breads which I took some to go, my son loved the pineapple pastries. I requested just fried eggs, avocado slices and bread, which is my usual breakfast and although my request was not on their menu they had no problem making it for me. I am from CA home of the hispanic people with great Mexican everything. Since I moved to Georgia I've been looking for a place that sells good Mexican sweet bread, I came here thinking I scored the jackpot a s I was fairly disappointed. I actually went when they opened so I can get the fresh stuff and all the bread(which was alot) was hard, cold and old) i asked for champurrado and it was also cold and tasted reheated or they tried. I wouldn't come back here again, but don't take my word for it. Try it and see if its up to you're standards. Unfortunately wasn't to mine. read more

We happened to be in the area and found this gem! True AUTHENTIC Mexican food. The portions are huge and fairly priced! The salsas were amazing. Overall, excellent service and food. WHY SO DRY? This little Mexican bakery is located in the Village Shopping Center with San Miguel, (Mexican bakery and taqueria). It carries a variety of baked/fried items such as cake, cupcakes, donuts and traditional pastries. My husband and I were looking for a delicious pastry snack. As we explored the various options, we were surprised by the following: The serving sizes are huge!. The cake was at least 2.5 inches high and the pastries were like small frisbees. We also noticed that their pastries are not nicely glazed as our pastries are and that instead of using powdered sugar, they used granulated sugar on their donuts. I don't like grit on my pastries. For the most part the items looked very dry and therefore not very appetizing. Unfortunately, it was difficult to tell if the items were really fresh. That thing that is shaped like a cinnamon roll and looks like a cinnamon roll with raisins is not a cinnamon roll. It is a savory roll shaped like a cinnamon roll and those raisin like bits are actually chopped peppers. I don't like seeing savory treats mixed with desserts because it confuses the flavors. There are no labels describing the various desserts. For those of you who have acquired a taste for these treats, you now have a new option. If you are new to Mexican desserts, just know that they are quite different from American desserts starting with the primary ingredients and toppings. Proceed with caution. read more

Good Mexican bakeries seem to be in short supply in the Atlanta area, but Santa Cecelia delivers the (baked) goods! My wife's from San Antonio, and grew up on Mexican sweets and pastries. We go back to San Antonio often, and never skip the bakery while we're there. While Santa Cecelia may not be on the same level as some of our favorite Mexican bakeries in San Antonio, we both agreed that all of the items we tried were very good, and done "right." Everything tasted freshly baked, the portions were huge, and the prices were incredible. We got 2 chocolate conchas (sweet bread), orejas (ear-shaped puff pasty), a large cookie, and a huge cinnamon roll puff pasty (don't know the proper name for it) for just over $5! It was easily enough to split between 6-8 people. Even though there were only 3 of us, we wanted to sample a bunch of different things, so we'll just have to "suffer" through finishing everything over the next day or 2. Keep in mind that the pastries likely won't last for much longer than that. The one knock I would give Santa Cecelia, as the other reviewer also pointed out, is that they don't have any labels on the cases. Fortunately, we were familiar with most of the items, but it would be nice to have short descriptions for those that aren't familiar with the items. The other reviewer also mentioned that the pastries were not as sweet as expected, but in my experience, I've always found Mexican pastries to be less sweet than what one might expect from typical American sweets. If you're expecting a Krispy Kreme doughnut, you'll probably be disappointed. I definitely wouldn't knock Santa Cecelia at all in this regard, as I found the sweetness level to be what I've come to expect from other Mexican baked goods that I've had. Ok, so I'm recently divorced and recently moved from Alpharetta to Roswell. I know there's plenty of money in Roswell too, but, at least in this part of town, it's not so much to be seen. Go down to Pastis if you want that. Instead, what you get here is genuinely good food made with skill and love. My first trip so far offered a sweet bread filled with custard and covered in chocolate (and SPRINKLES!) for probably a quarter of the price that Whole Foods would sell it. In addition, it was darn tasty and the people there incredibly friendly. I anxiously await my next visit! read more
