There are also issues with complex patient needs and Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements don't even begin to keep up with these needs. It is reflected in the quality of food, staff shortages, and the spaces for rehabilitation as well as the amount of time available for this. I saw many staff doing their best. The building, is old, many are, and this is not ideal. There are amenities that just are not available. I'm grateful for staff that thought outside the box to make my husband feel cared for, safe and capable of working to recover his strength.

All of the staff have been available, knowledgeable, and willing to listen to me as I explained how to best serve my mother. I did not get lip service, I did not get rolled eyes. And when I showed up unannounced, my mother was being cared for very well. They did a great job identifying her needs and providing all of the appropriate specialists. It was clear that their goal was to get her well enough to go home. They did a wonderful job. I would not hesitate to send a family member there or to go there myself should I need such a facility.

It is overwhelming to make decisions like choosing a Hospice agency. The reviews online are so concerning and make the decision of choosing a Hospice agency challenging. I hope my experience is helpful to others that are in the difficult position of have to make a critical decision of which Hospice to choose during a very emotional period.
