My mother, age 86, with limited verbal capacity, and a tendency to be a little difficult at times, shattered her kneecap. I needed a rehab facility in which she could recover. Villa Maria was available, but had a rather low rating on yelp. I would like to Emphatically say that this is a wonderful facility. All of the staff have been available, knowledgeable, and willing to listen to me as I explained how to best serve my mother. I did not get lip service, I did not get rolled eyes. And when I showed up unannounced, my mother was being cared for very well. They did a great job identifying her needs and providing all of the appropriate specialists. It was clear that their goal was to get her well enough to go home. They did a wonderful job. I would not hesitate to send a family member there or to go there myself should I need such a facility. read more

Unfortunately my family member was sent to this facility. It's very smelly and is very unpleasant and unprofessional. There is a fact of it being understaffed as well they sit on the cellphones! I have seen aid drop off food and leave it there and by the time they came back .. the jello was all over this lady who was very weak. For the expense paid .. it just not worth it. We took in food so our family member would be able to eat. Ensure drinks etc. All to find out that after our family member passed away They return most of the food and drinks There was missing property and the list goes on! My mother was here short term for and I have only nice things to say about the staff and the care given here! The nurses were very knowledgeable and answered all questions I had regarding my mom. She is very alert and said that nurses (both CNA's and LVN's) were compassionate and gave her the absolute best care. The facility I can tell is clean well kept up with, I noticed they have made some improvements. All staff gives great service from the time she was admitted, to when she was discharged back home, I am very pleased! read more

This place is hell on earth for rehab or long term care. A literal jail. The staff is rude and I cannot believe anyone would ever write anything good about this place without seeing it. The care of the patients is inadequate. The nurses lie to the patients and say they are giving them the medications that they are not actually giving them. Or they sneak medication in to drug the patients because they do not want to be bothered. I saw one lady fall out of a wheelchair and have to go to the hospital. No one answers the phone when I call and this place is nothing but filth. There is a bedsore person that comes constantly to try and repair infectious sores from lack of care. This specialist sees people all day when there. This is a highly infectious place. Has a quarantine covid unit where people are ignored. I do not recommend it! Take your family home.Nurses are subject to leaving people screaming and being on their cellphones. Shut them down once and for all. For those who put their family members in there and don't follow up on the care, shame on you! read more

My father was in here long enough to get poor treatment, to be ignored and sedated by staff to keep him quiet because he was unable to use his "call" button, something that was confirmed by a staff member; which is not recommended for anyone on dialysis (according to his doctor). His health deteriorated substantially in Villa Maria's care. Reports were made of abuse. Investigators were contacted. Do not place your loved ones in this facility. I personally wish horrible things on those staff members who ignored, sedated and made fun of my father. I wish horrible things on the staff members who were part of his health deteriorating from their lack of care. I wish horrible things on the staff that saw the abuse and went along with it, instead of stopping it and reporting it. I have no kind words for this place. They said they sent my father to emergency when they saw his health decline, it was NOT them, it was his dialysis people. They sent him, where he stayed a few days before being sent home to die with family. My father was in this facility for rehabilitation... So he could get better and come home...Not get worse and come home to die. One star as it refuses to let me choose zero. read more

My sister-in-law has been residing at Villa Maria since Febuary, 2022. I find the staff friendly & knowledgeable. She is a long term patient. She has made friends with staff & they joke & have fun. The staff has done a great job caring for the patients during Covid. Karen, in Social Services has been incredible, helping the family navigate her long term care needs. Whenever a return call is needed, it is done quickly. There many activities available for patients. Heads of eack department providing services to her, meet with the familr regularly to discuss treatment. Transportation to her doctor is done, as needed & provided with a helpful attendant. We recommend Villa Maria! read more

My wife died there. They could not get the spelling of of her name correct nor did they bother to take proper precautions to avoid the flu issue. I would never put my worst enemy in that location. Hopefully they will resolve their issues... read more

A clean and well maintained skilled nursing facility! Staff was very welcoming and informative during a recent visit. Jared and Alan are both amazing! Great team of licensed and support staff. Rehab gym is good sized and well equipped with state of the art equipment. Patients seemed involved and informed with care. Patient rooms and common areas were clean and pleasant. I would strongly encourage Villa Maria and would absolutely have them care for my loved one. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. My mother was transfered here due to covid shut downs in her area and this has been the worst experience. She called me nightly, at times unable to reach water, but always with the same complaint, no one comes when called. Although she was not "suposed to" she ended up just taking herself to the bathroom and doing transfers herself because no one would arrive to help. It seemed that it was easier to allow residents to soil themselves than deal with transfers. The food was awful, never a fresh fruit. I was invited to one confrence call with her care team though I was told they are supposed to have one weekly. Due to covid I was not allowed to enter the facility so I can't speak to how things were run inside but I can say that on one visit a staff member just pointed down a hallway and said,"Her room is down there." I asked if I was allowed in and he just looked confused and kept pointing me in the direction of the room. Once in, I wandered around looking for my mother before someone asked me to wait outside again. Not a surprise they had a covid outbreak among staff while mom was there. I got her out but her mobility has suffered due to lack of exarcise. They kept her in a whelchair or bed most of the time with very little PT. I was told, "oh she just sits in front of the TV and she's fine." Not at all like my mom who is active and not a TV watcher. At discharge I was handed a bag of pills and that was it. I went home and had to decifer what was what. Now, as I call daily to try to deal with long term insurance issues I rarely can reach ANYONE, including a receptioist at times! I can only assume they are still in business but honestly I'm not sure how. I am sometimes put on hold for long periods of time, was given an incorrect email, no call back. Again, PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Mom has had several tours of duty in skilled nursing and this was not up to standards. read more

If I could give it less than a ONE STAR I would. I wouldn't send my F...ing Worst Enemy there for care!! My Dad would not let me fill out the survey to turn into the State because he knows how bad it would be. He didn't understand that I wasn't just trying to say what was WRONG with his care, but I was actually trying to protect future patients from staying here!! The staff was horrible and tried to pass their duties on to the next shift. Lied straight to my face did not have a call Button which is against all laws, said the part was ordered for 2 weeks finally asked for the purchase order and there wasn't one and said it wasn't going to be fixed so gave him a hotel Dinger Bell WTF. Could not shut his door because of that, so he had to listen to all the noise from all the rooms and had no privacy. Dad on a couple of occasions didn't get a meal. They bandaged the wrong leg!!! The staff didn't follow doctors instructions. Dad was in there for six weeks the doctor(In house) only came to see him 3 times and then diagnosed him from across the room and didn't even get within 3 feet of him. Swear she never touched him one time . He left with a bigger sore on his foot then which he came in with, ended up having to go see Dr Hayashi. The floors were not swept everyday it was total disgrace for the patients who stayed there and the staffs attitude was "Why should I do it today when someone else can do it later or never" one employee actually told me "Oh I thought I could sneak out without you noticing and I was going to pass it off to the next shift" Please do your research on your parents care do not send them to Villa Maria in Santa Maria California you will regret this!!! read more

This place has made big improvements. I was hesitant at first about letting my mom stay because of the reviews BUT AM I GLAD we chose villa Maria. My mother went in for acute rehab. 4 months later and she came back home healthier. The nursing staff was awesome and the PT/OT staff really took care of my mom. She could not stop talking about how funny the PT/OT were and how she looked forward to it everyday. She said the nurses attended to everything she needed and the cnas were friendly and helped her with everything. I was scared at first because they said my mother was in their PUI unit but the nursing staff explained to me very well what it is. They answered all my questions and concerns and they took care of my mother. I thank god for villa Maria has done and am grateful. The nurses, cnas, PT/OT are a god send. My mother is in Vill Maria right now. I was very concerned because of these reviews so when I did go to the facility I found that they were not so bad. It is an older facility and could use some paint and new equipment but I found the level of care more than acceptable. More importantly.. my Mother who had just come from Marian was much happier here. She claims the food is better and the people are much nicer and more attentive. I can attest to this because her attitude has change drastically in the few days she has been here. She is now eating very well, working on getting up on her feet and overall better in spirits at Villa Maria. There are plenty of people working here from the nice lady at the front desk to the orderlies cleaning up that seem to genuinely care about the patients and their work here. When I had questions or needed something for my Mother there was always someone eager to help. I also witnessed a genuine respect and compassion given to the patients by the staff. I will take away one star for the facility needing a little paint or newer equipment (staff was checking important things like call buttons while i was there) but I will give four stars for the professionalism and care by the staff which has made my Mother much more comfortable and happy. read more

I unfortunately had to put my father at this "un-skilled" nursing facility, for almost 2 weeks, which is a decision that I will regret. Once we brought him there, the staff saw that he had people coming to visit, nobody would come in to check on him. He had an ostomy bag that no one, and I mean no one could put one on and stay on. I ended up having to tell staff that the "Treatment Nurse" was not to touch him again. The director of Villa Maria was talked to by myself, and a family member and this was brought to his attention, not sure what he did with the info, but apparently nothing. I live 10 minutes away and my father would call me to come and help him, before a nurse would even answer the call. I had the "team" report (which I hadn't seen any of these people till that day) on how he can walk 75 ft, and we wondered how that could be when he couldn't get out of bed by himself, I thought maybe collectively he could walk that far in the 2 weeks he was there, however, insurance has plays a big part in this as well. The room was fairly clean, however dust under the head board of the bed, empty medical rappers (bandaids, alcohol swabs) on floor in corner. The last person that was in that room had left their medical bracelet with name and info on the table next to bed, the tv didn't work, I could go on forever.....the one thing that this place did do was to help me make up my mind that I would bring my dad home and not put him in a board-in-care, I figured he'd been through enough and I made the provisions to be able to care for him at home. read more

I stayed there in January 2016. It was more like a prison than a rehabilitation facility. The administrative staff were efficient and courteous, the physical therapists were excellent, but most of the nursing staff were rude and ignorant (several LNAs spoke only Tagalog). Also most of the patients were fervent born-again Christians, and hearing raucous gospel music broadcast by loudspeaker every night was beyond annoying. I requested and received early discharge. I would give this facility a big fat zero if I could! The one star goes to the friendliness of the staff that was on shift when my husband was admitted. It was a Saturday night at 10:30 when my 54 year old husband was admitted from Marian hospital after undergoing routine hip surgery from a bad fall. I honestly blame Marian for releasing my husband to the rehabilitation center far too soon and then on a Saturday night when there were no admin. staff On duty. My husband was very il snd suffered from chronic pain and pulmonary hypertension. This place was filthy, they were not prepared for my husbands arrival- i do not think his room was cleaned as the trash can was full and the notes and pictures from previous patient were still hanging on the wall. The place is run down! Looks like an old, seedy motel. The bed appeared way too small and rinky dink for my 6 foot 6 , 240pound husband! When i asked for them to give my husband his meds( which the Dr. Marian promised he'd get after his transfer was ridiculously painful. The guy moving him put him on a stretcher and dropped half his body ( the broken hip) The nursing staff, Lovely was her name said she could not give him his meds as it takes awhile so she allowed me to go home and bring back my husband's meds. So i did- i took him, 10 oxy's, 10 methodones and 10 xanex. To which i thought it odd, they did not have me sign anything. I do not know even for sure if the nurse gave him his meds as they would not allow me to stay with him because of Covid rules. I went back the next day to pick up his wallet and phone and asked for his meds. Back snd the nurse " Lovely" was with another patient- i waited 20 minutes and i felt like they were trying to avoid me! Something happened to my husband between 10:30 pm Saturday night to 10:0O am Sunday morning when i got a phone call they sent my husband to the E.R. At marian because of low oxygen levels. That night when i kissed my husband goodbye was the last time my husband was coherently able to talk or text me on his phone. He died a few days later after being on the b pap machine and his lungs finally gave out. I'm so upset i left my husband in the Villa Maria's care - i honestly believe he'd be alive today if he was at home with me or stayed at Marian which is what we wanted. This facility is a dirty dump! It should be investigated and the owners should take pride and update/ clean it up. It is absolutely absurd to me that people are sent there, especially helpless, sick people! Do not allow your loved ones to be sent to this place! It was so bad i took photos because i never imagined my 54 year old husband would die in their care, i did however worry about him catching a a bad infection! He also had a wound vac on his wound to which they were ill prepared for and never emptied it! It was full and in need of emptying when he was sent over. read more
